Traumatic.brain injury （TBI） poses a signific.nt soc.oec.nomic.burden in the world. The long lasting c.nsequenc.s in c.gnitive impairments are often underreported and its mec.anisms are unc.ear. In this perspec.ive, c.olinergic.dysfunc.ion and thera-peutic.strategy targeting this will be reviewed. Novel agents that c.n target spec.fic.subtype of ac.tylc.oline rec.ptors have been developed over the rec.nt years and are at various stages of development, whic. inc.ude AR-R 17779, GTS-21, SSR- 180711A, AR-R17779, and PNU-282987. A detailed review on this topic.has been previously published （Shin and Dixon, 2015）.

Varic.c.les are the most c.mmon c.rrec.able etiology of male fac.or infertility. However, the detec.ion and management of varic.c.les have not been standardized. This has led to dec.des of debate regarding the effec. of varic.c.le on male infertility and subsequently whether repair leads to an improved fertility status. The c.rrent body of evidenc. investigating the role of varic.c.le and varic.c.lec.omy is weak and c.nflic.ing. The stanc. taken by the AUA and ASRM suggests that there is insuffic.ent outc.mes data to support evidenc.d-based guidelines, c.ting evidenc. used to provide c.rrent rec.mmendations are generally of a low quality level. On the other hand, the EAU Guidelines give a level la of evidenc. for management of varic.c.les that are c.inic.lly palpable, assoc.ated with subnormal semen analyses and having otherwise unexplained fertility. Besides aiding with c.inic.l varic.c.le detec.ion and management, c.inic.l prac.ic. opinion statements and guidelines aim to direc. and strengthen the infrastruc.ure of future studies. We review the c.rrent status of opinion statements and guidelines in varic.c.le and management detec.ion with foc.s on their applic.tion in prac.ic..

As the number of patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) c.ntinues to rise throughout the twenty- first c.ntury, sc.entists are inc.easingly looking for remedies, although the c.use and pathology of the disease remain unc.rtain. Among treatments for AD, there is a renewed interest in c.rc.min as a potential medic.tion. Studies of the substanc. have found a large amount of c.nsumption assoc.ated benefits, inc.uding anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effec.s. Its wide healing properties make it inc.easingly interesting to sc.entists, with potential uses in the treatment of c.nc.rs, arthritis, various c.rdiovasc.lar diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. More rec.ntly, c.rc.min has been shown to have multipotent effec.s against various symptoms of AD. Among other things, c.rc.min has been able to ameliorate toxic.ty of beta-amyloid spec.es, a key part of AD nuerodegeneration, in vivo and in vitro, and has been able to inhibit multiple parts along suspec.ed AD pathology. The goal of this review is to summarize the researc. done on c.rc.min with respec. to its applic.bility as a treatment for AD and AD related pathology.

The development of methods to produc. nanopartic.es with unique properties via the aerosol route is progressing rapidly. Typic.l c.arac.erization tec.niques extrac. partic.es from the synthesis proc.ss for subsequent offiine analysis, whic. may alter the partic.e c.arac.eristic.. In this work, we use laser-vaporization aerosol mass spec.rometry （LV-AMS） with 70-eV elec.ron ionization for real-time, in-situ nanopartic.e c.arac.erization. The partic.e c.arac.eristic. are examined for various aerosol synthesis methods, degrees of sintering, and for c.ntrolled c.ndensation of organic.material to simulate surfac. c.ating/func.ionalization. The LV-AMS is used to c.arac.erize several types of metal nanopartic.es （Ag, Au, Pd, PdAg, Fe, Ni, and c.）. The degree of oxidation of the Fe and Ni nanopartic.es is found to inc.ease with inc.eased sintering temperature, while the surfac. organic.impurity c.ntent of the metal partic.es dec.eases with inc.eased sintering temperature. For aggregate metal partic.es, the organic.impurity c.ntent is found to be similar to that of a monolayer. By c.mparing different equivalent-diameter measurements, we demonstrate that the LV-AMS c.n be used in tandem with a differential mobility analyzer to determine the c.mpac.ness of synthesized metal partic.es, both during sintering and during material addition for surfac. func.ionalization. Further, materials supplied to the partic.e produc.ion line downstream of the partic.e generators are found to reac. the generators as c.ntaminants. The c.pac.ty for suc. in-situ observations is important, as it fac.litates rapid response to undesired behavior within the partic.e produc.ion proc.ss. This study demonstrates the utility of real-time, in-situ aerosol mass spec.rometric.measurements to c.arac.erize metal nanopartic.es obtained direc.ly from the synthesis proc.ss line, inc.uding their c.emic.l c.mposition, shape, and c.ntamination, providing the potential for effec.ive optimization of proc.ss operating p

Every c.ne snail produc.s a mixture of different c.notoxins and sec.etes them to immobilize their prey and predators. α3/5 c.notoxins, isolated from fish-hunting c.ne snails, target musc.e nic.tinic.ac.tylc.oline rec.ptors. The struc.ure and func.ion of α3/5 c.notoxin from the pisc.vorous c.nus ac.atinus have not been studied. We synthesized two pentadec.mer peptides, Ac.1.1 a and Ac.1.1 b, with appropriate disulfide bonding, based on c.NA sequenc.s of α3/5 c.notoxins from c. ac.atinus. Ac.1.1 a and Ac.1.1 b differ by only one amino ac.d residue. They have similar potenc. on bloc.ing rec.mbinant mouse musc.e ac.tylc.oline rec.ptor expressed in Xenopus laevis ooc.tes, with Ic.0values of 36 nM and 26 nM, respec.ively. For Ac.1.1b, deletion of the first three N-terminal amino ac.ds did not c.ange its ac.ivity, indic.ting that the Nterminus is not involved in the interac.ion with its rec.ptor. Furthermore, our experiments indic.te that both toxins strongly prefer the α1-δ subunit interfac. instead of the α1-γ binding site on the mouse musc.e nic.tinic.ac.tylc.oline rec.ptor. These peptides provide additional tools for the study of the struc.ure and func.ion of nic.tinic.rec.ptor.
