Hard carbon(HC)is broadly recognized as an exceptionally prospective candidate for the anodes of sodium-ion batteries(SIBs),but their practical implementation faces substantial limitations linked to precursor factors,such as reduced carbon yield and increased ***,a cost-effective approach is proposed to prepare a coal-derived HC anode with simple pre-oxidation followed by a post-carbonization process which effectively expands the d_(002)layer spacing,generates closed pores and increases defect *** these modifications,the resulting HC anode attains a delicate equilibrium between plateau capacity and sloping capacity,showcasing a remarkable reversible capacity of 306.3 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.03 A·g^(-1).Furthermore,the produ ced HC exhibits fast reaction kinetics and exceptional rate performance,achieving a capacity of 289 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1),equivalent to~94.5%of that at 0.03 A·g^(-1).When implemented in a full cell configuration,the impressive electrochemical performance is evident,with a notable energy density of 410.6 Wh·kg^(-1)(based on cathode mass).In short,we provide a straightforward yet efficient method for regulating coal-derived HC,which is crucial for the widespread use of SIBs anodes.

The high rates of depression,burnout,and increased risk of suicide among medical students,residents,and physicians in comparison with other careers signal a mental health crisis within our *** contend that this crisis coupled with the inadequate acquisition of interpersonal skills during medical education results from the interaction between a challenging environment and the mental capital of ***,we posit that mindfulness-based practices are instrumental for the development of major components of mental capital,such as resilience,flexibility of mind,and learning skills,while also serving as a pathway to enhance empathy,compassion,self-awareness,conflict resolution,and relational ***,the evidence base supporting the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions has been increasing over the years,and a growing number of medical schools have already integrated mindfulness into their *** we acknowledge that mindfulness is not a panacea for all educational and mental health problems in this field,we argue that there is currently an unprecedented opportunity to gather momentum,spread and study mindfulness-based programs in medical schools around the world as a way to address some longstanding shortcomings of the medical profession and the health and educational systems upon which it is rooted.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries possess substantial potential for energy storage applications;however,they are hampered by challenges such as dendrite formation and uncontrolled side reactions occurring at the zinc *** our investigation,we sought to mitigate these issues through the utilization of in situ zinc complex formation reactions to engineer hydrophobic protective layers on the zinc anode *** robust interfacial layers serve as effective barriers,isolating the zinc anode from the electrolyte and active water molecules and thereby preventing hydrogen evolution and the generation of undesirable ***,the presence of numerous zincophilic sites within these protective layers facilitates uniform zinc deposition while concurrently inhibiting dendrite *** comprehensive evaluation of functional anodes featuring diverse functional groups and alkyl chain lengths,we meticulously scrutinized the underlying mechanisms influencing performance *** analysis involved precise modulation of interfacial hydrophobicity,rapid Zn2+ion transport,and ordered deposition of Zn2+***,the optimized anode,fabricated with octadecylphosphate（OPA）,demonstrated exceptional performance *** Zn//Zn symmetric cell exhibited remarkable longevity,exceeding 4000 h under a current density of 2 mA cm-2and a capacity density of 2 mA h cm-2,Furthermore,when integrated with a VOH cathode,the complete cell exhibited superior capacity retention compared to anodes modified with alternative organic molecules.

Lithium/fluorinated-carbon（Li/CFx） primary batteries are widely used in defense and military fields due to their stable discharge plateau, low self-discharge rate, and adaptability across a wide temperature range. However, enhancing their overall energy density and discharge capacity at low temperatures remains a critical challenge. Herein, we report a strategically designed LiBF4-based sulfite/carboxylate electrolyte, where the anion-involved solvation structure significantly enhances electrochemical kinetics by reducing the desolvation barrier. Simultaneously, it introduces a radical reaction mechanism that contributes to additional capacity. As a result, the Li/CFxprimary batteries with this formulated electrolyte deliver a specific capacity of 2,257.15 mAh g-1at 25 °C. More importantly, when operating at -40 °C, the batteries exhibit an exceptionally high discharge capacity of 1,549.4 m Ah g-1and an energy density of 2,868.6 Wh kg-1. Even at -60 °C, the Li/CFxcells achieve a specific capacity of 444.3 mAh g-1and an energy density of 821.8 Wh kg-1at 0.1 C, significantly outperforming previously reported organic-based liquid electrolytes. This work offers a viable strategy for enhancing the specific capacity and energy density of primary batteries in extreme environments, providing valuable insights for future developments.

The number of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is steadily increasing in order to meet the ever-growing demand for sustainable energy and a high quality of life for *** the same time,the resulting large number of LIB waste certainly poses safety hazards if it is not properly disposed of and will seriously harm the environment due to its inherent toxicity due to the use of toxic ***,the consumption of many scarce precious metal resources is behind the mass production of *** the light of severe environmental,resources,safety and recycling problems,recycling spent LIBs have become an essential urgently needed action to achieve sustainable social *** review therefore critically analyses the value and the need for recycling of spent LIBs from a variety of resources and the environment.A range of existing technologies for recycling and reusing spent LIBs,such as pretreatment,pyrometallurgy,hydrometallurgy,and direct recycled methods,is subsequently summarized *** addition,the benefits and problems of the methods described above are analyzed in *** also introduces recycling progress of other LIB components,such as anodes,separators,and electrolytes,as well as the high-value ***,the prospects for recycling LIBs are addressed in four ways(government,users,battery manufacturers,and recyclers).This review should contribute to the development of the recycling of used LIBs,particularly in support of industrialization and recycling processes.

The mechanical behavior of chonta palm wood(Bactris gasipaes) microparticles reinforced high density polyethylene(HDPE) under high strain-rate compressive and ballistic impact loading were *** palm wood microparticles were introduced into the HDPE via an extrusion process using parallel twin screw extruder to produce biocomposite containing 10, 20, 25, and 30 wt % chonta wood microparticles. In addition to mechanical tests, fractographic analysis was done to understand the failure mechanism in the biocomposites under dynamic and ballistic impact loads. The results indicate that both quasi-static and dynamic mechanical properties of HDPE are enhanced by reinforcement with chonta palm wood particles. The biocomposites containing 25 wt % wood microparticles exhibited the highest strength, stiffness, ballistic impact resistance and impact energy absorption capability. Introduction of microparticles of chonta palm wood as reinforcement into a polymeric matrix such as HDPE is therefore a promising method to develop biocomposites with enhanced capacity to withstand dynamic impact loading and absorb impact energy.

Sol-Gel Coating with 3-Mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane as Precursor for Corrosion Protection of Aluminium Metal

Sol—gel coatings offer a number of advantages over other methods of protection for metallic *** the present work,3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane（MPTS） was used as the precursor for sol—gel coating on aluminium *** gelation of MPTS sol—gel was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FT-IR） *** formed film was found to be stable up to 350 ℃ as evident from thermogravimetric analysis.X-ray diffraction study and scanning electron microscopy supported the formation of MPTS coating on aluminium surface while the characterization of the coating was done by FT-IR *** corrosion inhibition potential of the sol—gel coatings on metal in 3.5%（w/v） of NaCI solution was assessed as a function of different concentrations of MPTS using electrochemical polarization and impedance *** corrosion inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increasing MPTS *** results of the study unravel the use of MPTS as a precursor in the formation of sol—gel coating over aluminium surface so as to protect the metallic surface from corrosion in neutral environment.

This paper illustrates the efficacy of using accelerated gradient descent schemes for minimizing a uniaxially constrained Landau-de Gennes model for nematic liquid ***(alternating direction)minimization schemes are applied to a structure preserving finite element discretization of the uniaxial model:a standard gradient descent method,the“heavy-ball”method,and Nesterov’s *** performance of the schemes is measured in terms of the number of iterations required to obtain the equilibrium state,as well as the total computational time(wall time).The numerical experiments clearly show that the accelerated gradient descent schemes reduce the number of iterations and computational time significantly,despite the hard uniaxial constraint that is not“smooth”when defects are ***,our results show that accelerated schemes are not hindered when combined with an alternating direction minimization algorithm and are easy to implement.
