Large-eddy simulations and vortex structures of turbulent jets in crossflow

Using the method of large-eddy simulation, the 3-dimensional turbulent jets in crossflow with stream-wise and transverse arrangements of nozzle are simulated, emphasizing on the dynamical process of generation and evolution of vortex structures in these flows. The results show that the basic vortex structures in literatures, such as the counter-rotating vortex pair, leading-edge vortices, lee-side vortices, hanging vortices, kidney vortices and anti-kidney vortices, are not independent physical substances, but local structures of the basic vortex structure of turbulent jets in crossflow-the 3-D stretching vortex rings originating from the orifice of the nozzle, which is discovered in this study. Therefore, the most important large-scale structures of turbulent jets in crossflow are unified to the 3-D vortex rings which stretch and twist in stream-wise and swing in transverse directions. We also found that the shedding frequencies of vortex rings are much lower than the one corresponding to the appearance of leading-edge and lee-side vortices in the turbulent jets.

Aim:To explore the binding mode of 2-substituted 1-indanone derivatives withacetylcholinesterase (AChE) and provide hints for the future design of new de-rivatives with higher potency and ***:The GOLD-docking con-formations of the compounds in the active site of the enzyme were used in subse-quent *** highly reliable and predictive three-dimensional quantitativestructure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) models were achieved by comparativemolecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity analysis(CoMSIA) *** predictive capabilities of the models were validated byan external test ***,the stabilities of the 3D-QSAR models were veri-fied by the leave-4-out cross-validation ***:The CoMFA andCoMSIA models were constructed successfully with a good cross-validated coef-ficient (q~2) and a non-cross-validated coefficient (r~2).The q~2 and r~2 obtained fromthe leave-1-out cross validation method were 0.784 and 0.974 in the CoMFA modeland 0.736 and 0.947 in the CoMSIA model,*** coefficient isocontourmaps obtained from these models were compatible with the geometrical and physi-cochemical properties of ***:The contour map demonstrated thatthe binding affinity could be enhanced when the small protonated nitrogen moi-ety was replaced by a more hydrophobic and bulky group with a highly partialpositive *** present study provides a better understanding of the inter-action between the inhibitors and AChE,which is helpful for the discovery of newcompounds with more potency and selective activity.

We investigate the elastic field induced by an edge dislocation in a multilayered laminated composite composed of(N—2)thin bonded elastic layers sandwiched between two semi-infinite elastic media.A simple closed-form solution is obtained when all the phases have equal shear modulus but different Poisson's ratios,and when the dislocation is located in the upper semi-infinite *** image force acting on the dislocation due to its interaction with the multilayered structure is also derived. Several specific examples are discussed in detail to illustrate the mobility of the edge dislocation. Some interesting behaviors of the dislocation are *** results indicate that it is possible to find at most(N—2)equilibrium positions for the edge dislocation in an N-phase composite structure.

In order to further reduce the sulfur content in liquid hydrocarbon fuels,a desulfurization process by adsorption for removing alkyl dibenzothiophenes was *** of model gasoline by bentonite adsorbents loaded with silver nitrate was *** test results indicated that the bentonite adsorbents loaded with Ag + ions were effective for adsorbing the alkyl *** crystal structure of bentonite adsorbents was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and their acidity was measured by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) *** factors influencing the desulfurization capability,including the Ag + loading,the baking temperature,as well as the reaction temperature,were *** desulfurization efficiency was enhanced by increasing the Ag + loading and the best result was obtained at a silver loading of 7 m%.It was found that the adsorption capacity of the alkyl dibenzothiophenes on bentonite loaded with Ag + ions increased with a decreasing *** of the adsorbent could also improve the desulfurization capacity,and the optimum baking temperature was 423 K.

The EC-SOD cDNA was cloned by polymerase chain reaction （PCR） and inserted into theEscherichia coli expression plasmid pET-28a（+） and transformed into *** BL21 （DE3）.The correspondingprotein that was overexpressed as a recombinant His6-tagged EC-SOD was present in the form of inactiveinclusion *** structure was first solubilized under denaturant conditions （8.0 M urea）.Then,after acapture step using immobilized metal affinity chromatography （IMAC）,a gradual refolding of the protein wasperformed on-column using a linear urea gradient from 8.0 M to 1.5 M in the presence of glutathione（GSH）and oxidized glutathione（GSSG）.The mass ratio of GSH to GSSG was 4:*** purified enzyme was active,showing that at least part of the protein was properly *** protein was made concentrated byultrafiltration,and then isolated using Sephacryl S-200 *** were two protein peaks in the A280 *** on the results of electrophoresis,we concluded that the two fractions were formed by protein subunitsof the same mass,and in the fraction where the molecular weight was higher,the dimer was formed throughthe disulfide bond between *** were detected in the two fractions,but the activity of thedimer was much higher than that of the single *** special activities of the two fractions werefound to be 3475 U/mg protein and 510 U/mg protein,respectively.

The screen-printed three-electrode system was applied to fabricate a new type of disposable amperometric xanthine oxidase ***-working,carbon-counter and Ag/AgCl reference electrodes were all manually printed on the polyethylene terephthalate substrate forming the screen-printed three-electrode system by the conventional screen-printing *** a mediator,Prussian blue could not only catalyze the electrochemical reduction of hydrogen peroxide produced from the enzyme reaction,but also keep the favorable potential around 0 *** optimum operational conditions,including pH,potential and temperature,were *** sensitivities of xanthine and hypoxanthine detections were 13.83 mA/M and 25.56 mA/M,respectively.A linear relationship was obtained in the concentration range between 0.10μM and 4.98μM for xanthine and between 0.50μM and 3.98μM for *** small Michaelis-menten constant value of the xanthine oxidase biosensor was calculated to be 3.90 μ*** results indicate that the fabricated xanthine oxidase biosensor is effective and sensitive for the detection of xanthine and hypoxanthine.

Limit language complexity of cellular automata which is first posed by S. Wolfram has become a new branch of cellular automata. In this paper, we obtain two interesting relationships between elementary cellular automata of rules 126, 146（182） and 18, and prove that if the limit language of rule. 18 is not regular, nor are the limit languages of rules 126 and 146（182）.

Motion graphs have been widely used as an effective technique in the synthesis of human *** synthesize well-formed motions,motion graphs require smooth transitions and good ***,the time and costs grow quadratically as the graph size *** this paper,we present a method to set up a hierarchical structure,called a structure *** coarse level of this graph models different motion categories and their transitions,and the fine level mainly captures different motion *** interpolation space method is used to improve the graph connectivity at the fine *** structure guides the establishment of a faster and more realistic graphical *** the building process,this structure also helps with searching the motion graph,by performing a traverse search and placing the findings into a direct look-up table or local search ***,when there is no direct link between the different motions,a navigation map is introduced to conduct an appropriate search path via a series of transition motion *** experimental results indicate that our approach could lower the computation time in construction and searching,while simultaneously providing a richer variety of motion styles.

The pyrolysis dechlorination of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) has been carried out by batch operation under atmospheric pressure. The kinetics involved in the PVC thermal decomposition was studied by using thermogravimetric technique. Several tests were carried out at the heating rate of 5-10℃/min, the yields of products and the distribution of chlorine were also studied. The kinetic parameters such as activation energies, reaction orders and preexponential factors under nitrogen atmosphere were calculated by applying Friedman’s method. The results showed that the PVC thermal degradation is substantially a two-step process. The first step mainly involves dechlorination of the polymers. HCI is the main volatile product and this reaction can be seen as a first-order reaction. A kinetic model for the thermal dechlorination of PVC has been developed.
