Combination treatment of inflammatory bowel disease:Present status and future perspectives

The treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),especially those with severe or refractory disease,represents an important challenge for the clinical *** seems to be no exaggeration to say that in these patients,not only the scientific background of the gastroenterologist is tested,but also the abundance of“gifts”that he should possess(insight,intuition,determ-ination,ability to take initiative,etc.)for the successful outcome of the *** daily clinical practice,depending on the severity of the attack,IBD is treated with one or a combination of two or more pharmaceutical *** combin-ations include not only the first-line drugs(e.g.,mesalazine,corticosteroids,antibiotics,etc)but also second-and third-line drugs(immunosuppressants and biologic agents).It is a fact that despite the significant therapeutic advances there is still a significant percentage of patients who do not satisfactorily respond to the treatment ***,a part of these patients are going to *** recent years,several small-size clinical studies,reviews,and case reports have been published combining not only biological agents with other drugs(e.g.,immunosuppressants or corticosteroids)but also the combination of two biologi-cal agents simultaneously,especially in severe *** our opinion,it is at least a strange(and largely unexplained)fact that we often use combinations of drugs in a given patient although studies comparing the simultaneous administration of two or more drugs with monotherapy are very *** mentioned above,there is a timid tendency in the literature to combine two biological agents in severe cases unresponsive to the applied treatment or patients with severe extraintestinal *** appropriate dosage,the duration of the administration,the suitable timing for checking the clinical and laboratory outcome,as well as the treatment side-effects,should be the subject of intense clinical research *** this

Metal-Organic Frameworks Housing Active Molecules as Bioinspired Catalysts

Malargüe Site Remediation: A Successful Solution for Uranium Mill Tailings

Comisión Nacional de energía Atómica(CNeA) has the responsibility for restoring uranium mining facilities once the operations have finished. CNeA, within its environmental Program and in compliance with its legal responsibilities, decides to implement a restoration project for all sites related to the mining and processing of uranium ores. The Malargüe Site is located within the Province of Mendoza in the city of Malargüe. It is the first site to successfully complete its remediation. The activities consist of relocation of tailings to an engineering repository. The tailings management(encapsulation) and rehabilitation of the area was finished in June 2017. The remediation alternative for the ore tailings was selected after conducting comparative studies and submitted the project to the society for consideration. The objective of the encapsulation of the mineral tails is to isolate them from the environment, also proceeding with the decontamination and rehabilitation of the area(landscaping,post-closure monitoring and 20 years monitoring period). encapsulation consisted of the construction of a containment cell for the mine tailings, to isolate them and prevent pollutants from entering the environment through the transfer routes. To clean the impacted areas, the soil was removed, it was incorporated into the encapsulation, and the filling was carried out with natural soils from the *** prevents radon transfer to the environment, as 222Ra is an alpha emitter with a half-life of four days, which produces its own radioactive progeny. Radon progeny are solids, and when a 222Ra nucleus emits an alpha particle into the air, the resulting 218Po nucleus, momentarily electrically charged, adheres to any dust particle. Remediation prevents the discharge into the air containing radon and also containing dust particles charged with intensely radioactive radon progeny. Objective:Premature rupture of membranes(PROM)is a common pregnancy disorder that is closely associated with structural weakening of fetal *** have found that formyl peptide receptor 1(FPR1)activates inflammatory pathways and amniotic epithelial-mesenchymal transition(eMT),stimulates collagen degradation,and leads to membrane weakening and membrane *** purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory and eMT inhibitory effects of FPR1 antagonist(BOC-MLF)to provide a basis for clinical prevention of ***:The relationship between PROM,FPR1,and eMT was analyzed in human fetal membrane tissue and plasma samples using Western blotting,PCR,Masson staining,and eLISA ***(LPS)was used to establish a fetal membrane inflammation model in pregnant rats,and BOC-MLF was used to treat the LPS rat *** detected interleukin(IL)-6 in blood from the rat hearts to determine whether the inflammatory model was successful and whether the anti-inflammatory treatment was *** used electron microscopy to analyze the structure and collagen expression of rat fetal ***:Western blotting,PCR and Masson staining indicated that the expression of FPR1 was significantly increased,the expression of collagen was decreased,and eMT appeared in *** rat model indicated that LPS caused the collapse of fetal membrane epithelial cells,increased intercellular gaps,and decreased ***-MLF promoted an increase in fetal membrane collagen,inhibited eMT,and reduced the weakening of fetal ***:The expression of FPR1 in the fetal membrane of PROM was significantly increased,and eMT of the amniotic membrane was ***-MLF can treat inflammation and inhibit amniotic eMT.

enhancing high-temperature oxidation resistance(at 1000 °C) of nickel superalloy obtained by laser powder bed fusion via reactive electric spark treatment

The high-temperature oxidation resistance of the nickel superalloy grown by the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) has been significantly increased as a result of in-situ formation of a thermal barrier layer (α-Al2O3+ CaMoO4) during oxidative annealing of surface layers modified by electric spark treatment (eST). The reactive eST of the LPBF-built items based on nickel eP741NP alloy was carried out with low-melting Al-12%Si， Al-6%Ca-0.6%Si and Al-7%Ca-1%Mn electrodes. It was found that at eST done by Al-7%Ca-1%Mn electrode an intermetallic (β-NiAl + γ’-Ni3Al) 15 microns thick layer reinforced by spherical oxide (CaMe)O nanoparticles was formed. Formation of that structure increases the wear resistance of LPBF nickel superalloy by 4.5 times. Further oxidative annealing at 1000 °C lead to a formation of continuous two-layered coating with an inner layer of α-Al2O3and an outer layer of CaMoO4， which together act as an effective barrier preventing the diffusion of oxygen into the volume of the superalloy.
