The lack of food security leads us to turn to the riches of the forest, namely non-timber forest products (NTFP) and timber forest products (TFP). in Burkina, these products are a source of income for families, improving their living conditions. Tamarindus indica L. that is a NFTP, is widely used in both rural and urban areas. Unfortunately, tamarind is subject to attack by Caryedon serratus. its biological activity begins on the fruit before the harvest. The aim of our study is to evaluate some biodemographic parameters of the insect pest C. serratus Olivier. First100 healthy T. indica pods were placed in contact with ten pairs of C. serratus for 24 hours. 25 pods, each carrying a maximum of two eggs, were divided into five batches of 5 pods. Then a pair of C. serratus aged less than 24 h was placed in contact with 4 healthy pods for 24 h. every day, the pair was removed and transferred to another box containing 4 new healthy pods. A total of 20 replicates were performed. The results showed that C. serratus has an average lifespan of 14 days. However, the female (16 days) lived longer and laid an average of 34 eggs during her lifetime. The egg-laying period lasted 14 days, the number of eggs increased until reaching a maximum peak on the 4th day. C. serratus has an embryonic development time of 3 days and an emergence rate of 66.63%. However, the weight of males and females differed significantly (p = 0.0108). We found an intrinsic rate of natural increase of 0.12 and a population doubling time was 5.68 days. These results have enabled us to gain a better understanding of its development cycle and its capacity for regeneration. This allows us to implement control strategies for better stock protection.

中缅两国是友好邻邦,两国人民之间的传统友谊源远流长。自古以来,两国人民就以“胞波”(兄弟)相称。随着中国在国际上的地位越来越高,世界上各个国家的汉语热也逐渐发展起来,缅甸也不例外。本文主要通过调查问卷来初步了解缅族人在缅甸学习汉语时各方面出现的问题,并分析出现这些问题的原因,并提出了相应的解决方法。本文共分三章：第一章是缅甸汉语教学的背景。主要介绍中缅两国各方面的交往,如政治交往、贸易交往、宗教交往等等,以及汉语教学在缅甸的建立和发展情况。第二章是曼德勒地区缅族人学习汉语的主要问题。本章首先介绍了汉语在曼德勒地区的影响以及曼德勒地区汉语学习机构大概的情况。接着从宏观上分析了这些汉语学习机构各方面有待改进的问题：师资问题、教材问题、教法问题、管理问题等。随后通过问卷调查的结果,从微观上初步分析了缅族人在学习汉语时各具体语言要素方面(语音、语法、词汇)的困难和问题。第三章是针对上述调查分析的结果,提出了曼德勒地区缅族人学习汉语的对策研究。这一章主要是对政府机构和私人主办的汉语学习机构以及教师的教法提出建议和对策。

effect of a region-wide incorporation of an algorithm based on the 2012 international consensus guideline on the practice pattern for the management of pancreatic cystic neoplasms in an integrated health system

AiM To examine the practice pattern in Kaiser Permanente Southern California(KPSC), i.e., gastroenterology(Gi)/surgery referrals and endoscopic ultrasound(eUS), for pancreatic cystic neoplasms(PCNs) after the regionwide dissemination of the PCN management *** Retrospective review was performed; patients with PCN diagnosis given between April 2012 and April 2015(18 mo before and after the publication of the algorithm) in KPSC(integrated health system with 15 hospitals and 202 medical offices in Southern California) were ***2558(1157 pre-and 1401 post-algorithm) received a new diagnosis of PCN in the study period. There was no difference in the mean cyst size(pre-19.1 mm vs post-18.5 mm, P = 0.119). A smaller percentage of PCNs resulted in eUS after the implementation of the algorithm(pre-45.5% vs post-34.8%, P er proportion of patients were referred for Gi(pre-65.2% vs post-53.3%, P ery consultations(pre-24.8% vs post-16%, P er the implementation. There was no significant change in operations for PCNs. Cost of diagnostic care was reduced after the implementation by 24%, 18%, and 36% for eUS, Gi, and surgery consultations, respectively, with total cost saving of 24%.CONCLUSiON in the current healthcare climate, there is increased need to optimize resource utilization. Dissemination of an algorithm for PCN management in an integrated health system resulted in fewer eUS and Gi/surgery referrals, likely by aiding the physicians ordering imaging studies in the decision making for the management of PCNs. This translated to cost saving of 24%, 18%, and 36% for eUS, Gi, and surgical consultations, respectively, with total diagnostic cost saving of 24%.

Safety and efficacy of tenofovir in chronic hepatitis B-related decompensated cirrhosis

AiM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate(TDF) as a first-line therapy in decompensated liver disease. MeTHODS We enrolled 174 chronic hepatitis B-related liver cirrhosis patients treated with 300 mg/d TDF at six korean centers. Of the 174 cirrhosis patients, 57 were assigned to the decompensated cirrhosis group and 117 were assigned to the compensated cirrhosis group. We followed the patients for 12 mo and evaluated clinical outcomes, including biochemical, virological, and serological responses. We also evaluated changes in hepatic and renal function and compared the decompensated and compensated cirrhosis groups. ReSULTS The 1-year complete virological response(CVR) and Hepatitis B e antigen(HBe Ag) seroconversion were seen in 70.2% and 14.2% in the decompensated cirrhosis group, respectively. The rates of HBe Ag seroconversion/loss and ALT normalization at month 12 were similar in both groups. TDF treatment was also effective for decreasing the level of hepatitis B virus(HBV) DNA in both groups, but CVR was higher in the compensated group(88.9% vs 70.2%, P = 0.005). Tenofovir treatment for 12 mo resulted in improved Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP) and model for end-stage liver disease(MeLD) scores in decompensated group(P e 57 decompensated patients, 39(68.4%) achieved CTP class A and 27(49.1%) showed improvement in the CTP score of 2 points after 12 mo of TDF. The observed rate of confirmed 0.5 mg/d L increases in serum levels of creatinine in the decompensated and compensated cirrhosis group were 7.0% and 2.5%, respectively(P iON TDF therapy in decompensated cirrhosis patients was effective for decreasing HBV DNA levels and improving hepatic function with relatively lower CVR than in compensated cirrhosis. Thus, physicians should carefully monitor not only renal function but also treatment responses when using TDF in decompensated cirrhosis patients.

Modified Bean Seed Protein Phaseolin Did Not Accumulate Stably in Transgenic Tobacco Seeds after Methionine enhancement Mutations

The major seed storage protein phaseolin of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is deficient in methionine, an essential amino acid for human and animal health. To improve the nutritional quality of common bean, we designed methionine enhancement of phaseolin based on the three-dimensional structure of protein, de novo design principles and genetic information. Amino acid substitution and loop insertion were targeted to the interior and exterior, respectively, of the protein’s β-barrels. First, we introduced the methionine enhancement mutations into phaseolin cDNA, expressed cDNA in escherichia coli and purified monomeric non-glycosylated proteins. Biophysical analysis of e. coli-expressed proteins demonstrated a similar structural stability of wild-type and mutant phaseolin monomers. Here, we attempted to test the structural stability of the methionine-enhanced phaseolin by introducing phaseolin cDNA to tobacco via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of leaf disks, regenerating transgenic tobacco plants, and examining the accumulation of phaseolin protein in mature transgenic tobacco seeds. We used seven constructs containing different extents of methionine enhancement, ranging from the original 3 to maximum 33 methionines per 397 amino acid residues. eLiSA analyses indicated that the methionine-enhanced phaseolins did not accumulate as stably in mature transgenic tobacco seeds as the wild-type phaseolin. it seems likely that the methionine-enhanced phaseolin proteins were under the stringent scrutiny of the protein quality control mechanism in the endoplasmic reticulum (eR), Golgi complex and/or vacuolar protein bodies. The protein degradation is probably to occur in the vacuolar protein bodies due to the instability of the trimer assembly caused by the methionine enhancement mutations targeting either amino-acids substitutions or/and loop insertions to the interior β-sheets and tum/loop regions, respectively, of N- and C-barrel structures.

To the editor:Lipoprotein glomerulopathy (LPG) is an uncommon inherited renal disease characterized by lipoprotein thrombi in the markedly dilated capillary lumina of affected glomeruli, high plasma concentrations of apolipoprotein e (apoe), and proteinuria.[1] it mainly affects people of Japanese and Chinese origin, and approximately 117 cases have been reported to date.[2,3] Several genetic studies have demonstrated that APOe gene mutations may lead to the development of LPG;[4,5,6] however, conflicting published evidence has found that some patients with APOe variants were unaffected.[7] Thus, further studies are needed to examine the role of APOe mutations in the pathogenesis of *** study investigated a novel point mutation in the APOe gene in a family with one LPG patient and an asymptomatic carrier of the same APOe variant.

Nanoscale defects in the outer tube to preserve the electrical and optical features of the inner tube can be engineered to exploit the intrinsic properties of double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) for various promising applications. We demonstrated a selective way to make defects in the outer tube by the fluorination of DWCNTs followed by the thermal detachment of the F atoms at 1000 °C in argon. Fluorinated DWCNTs with different amounts of F atoms were prepared by reacting with fluorine gas at 25, 200, and 400 °C that gave the stoichiometry of CF0.20, CF0.30, and CF0.43, respectively. At the three different temperatures used, we observed preservation of the coaxial morphology in the fluorinated DWCNTs. For the DWCNTs fluorinated at 25 and 200 °C, the strong radial breathing modes (RBMs) of the inner tube and weakened RBMs of the outer tube indicated selective fluorine attachment onto the outer tube. However, the disappearance of the RBMs in the Raman spectrum of the DWCNTs fluorinated at 400 °C showed the introduction of F atoms onto both inner and outer tubes. There was no significant change in the morphology and optical properties when the DWCNTs fluorinated at 25 and 200 °C were thermally treated at 1000 °C in argon. However, in the case of the DWCNTs fluorinated at 400 °C, the recovery of strong RBMs from the inner tube and weakened RBMs from the outer tube indicated the selective introduction of substantial defects on the outer tube while preserving the original tubular shape. The thermal detachment of F atoms from fluorinated DWCNTs is an efficient way to make highly defective outer tubes for preserving the electrical conduction and optical activity of the inner tubes.

Magnesite and talc origin in the sequence of geodynamic events in Veporicum, inner Western Carpathians, Slovakia

This paper summarizes recent data about magnesite and talc genesis in Carboniferous host rocks of Western Carpathians (Slovakia) , which occur in two distinct belts in tectonic superunit Veporicum and its contact zone with Gemericum. The northern Sinec magnesite and talc belt (with main deposits kokava, Sinec, Samo, Hnust'a-Mutnik) contains economic accummulation of magnesite and talc, while in the southern Ochtina belt ( main deposits in Dubrava massif-Dubrava, Mikova, Jedl'ovec; Lubenik, Ochtina, kosice-Bankov, Banisko, Medvedia) the magnesite is *** magnesite genesis by successive replacement of Carboniferous calcite to dolomite and magnesite during metamorphic process Ml (northern belt 280-400℃; , southern belt 370-420℃: ; Radvanec & Prochaska, 2001; kodera & Radvanec, 2002) , being supplied by Mg from Permoscythian evaporitic bittern brines, relates to Variscan post-collisional (post-VD) evolution. The extensional tectonics and the high heat flow facilitated the generation of a hydrothermal *** time-separated later metamorphic and sourcely different fluid flow event (M2; 1. c. ) produced talc. Tectonic, microtectonic, metamorphic and geochronological data relate the talc origin with the Alpine Upper Cretaceous (88-84 Ma; Maluski in kovacik et al. , 1996) tectonothermal event AD2. This event, being the consequence of Alpine collisional ( AD1 ) crustal thickening and metamorphic core complex origin, meant regional extension and pervasive fluid flow of open system in crustal discontinuities. This process was prominent in the northern belt ( Sinec shear zone) located more closely to Veporic thermal dome, while towards its peripheral parts (southern Ochtina belt) the M2 metamorphic process and steatitization gradually *** from Sinec shear zone (being the prominent AD2 -AD3 structure of northern Sinec belt) , where the dolomite/magnesite lenses (replacement in M1) and their accompanying lithology were in AD1 sandwitched between more com
