Single-photon laser ranging has widespread applications in remote sensing and target ***,highly sensitive light detection and ranging(lidar)has long been restricted in the visible or near-infrared *** appealing quest is to extend the operation wavelength into the mid-infrared(MIR)region,which calls for an infrared photon-counting system at high detection sensitivity and precise temporal ***,we devise and demonstrate an MIR upconversion lidar based on nonlinear asynchronous optical ***,the infrared probe is interrogated in a nonlinear crystal by a train of pump pulses at a slightly different repetition rate,which favors temporal optical scanning at a picosecond timing resolution and a kilohertz refreshing rate ***,the cross-correlation upconversion trace is temporally stretched by a factor of 2×10^(4),which can thus be recorded by a low-bandwidth silicon *** combination with the time-correlated photon-counting technique,the achieved effective resolution is about two orders of magnitude better than the timing jitter of the detector itself,which facilitates a ranging precision of 4μm under a low detected flux of 8×10^(−5) photons per *** presented MIR time-of-flight range finder is featured with single-photon sensitivity and high positioning resolution,which would be particularly useful in infrared sensing and imaging in photon-starved scenarios.

Prediction of chemical short-range order in high-/medium-entropy alloys

Chemical short-range orders(CSROs),as the built-in sub-nanoscale entities in a high-/medium-entropy alloy(H/MeA),have aroused an ever-increasing *** multi-principal elements in an H/MeA to form a complex concentrated solution,a variety of sub-systems of species exist to induce the metastable ordered compounds as candidates for ultimate *** issues remain pending on the origin of CSROs as to how to judge if CSRO will form in an H/MeA and particularly,what kind of CSROs would be stably produced if there were multiple ***,the first-principles method,along with the proposed local formation energy calculation in allusion to the atomic-scale chemical heterogeneities,is used to predict the CSRO formation based on the mechanical stability,thermodynamic formation energy,and electronic *** simulations are detailed in an equiatomic ternary VCoNi MeA with three kinds of potential compounds,i.e.,L1_(1),L1_(2),and B2,in the face-centered cubic *** turns out that L1_(1)is stable but hard to grow up so as to become the final CSRO.L1_(1)is further predicted as CSROs in CrCoNi,but unable to form in FeCoNi and CrMnFeCoNi *** predictions are consistent with the experimental *** findings shed light on understanding the formation of *** method is applicable to other H/MeAs to design and tailor CSROs by tuning chemical species/contents and thermal processing for high performance.

Novel Sum-of-Sinusoids Simulation Channel Modeling for 6G Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Vehicle-to-everything Communications

In this paper,a statistical cluster-based simulation channel model with a finite number of sinusoids is proposed for depicting the multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)communications in vehicleto-everything(V2X)*** the proposed sum-of-sinusoids(SoS)channel model,the waves that emerge from the transmitter undergo line-of-sight(LoS)and non-line-of-sight(NLoS)propagation to the receiver,which makes the model suitable for describing numerous V2X wireless communication scenarios for sixth-generation(6G).We derive expressions for the real and imaginary parts of the complex channel impulse response(CIR),which characterize the physical propagation characteristics of V2X wireless *** statistical properties of the real and imaginary parts of the complex CIRs,i.e.,autocorrelation functions(ACFs),Doppler power spectral densities(PSDs),cross-correlation functions(CCFs),and variances of ACFs and CCFs,are derived and *** results are generated and match those predicted by the underlying theory,demonstrating the accuracy of our derivation and *** proposed framework and underlying theory arise as an efficient tool to investigate the statistical properties of 6G MIMO V2X communication systems.

This work reports the use of defect engineering and carbon supporting to achieve metal-doped phosphides with high activities and stabilities for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HeR)and the oxygen evolution reaction(OeR)in alkaline ***,the nitrogen-doped carbon nanofiber-supported Ni-doped CoP_(3) with rich P defects(Pv·)on the carbon cloth(p-NiCoP/NCFs@CC)is synthesized through a plasma-assisted phosphorization *** p-NiCoP/NCFs@CC is an efficient and stable catalyst for the HeR and the *** only needs overpotentials of 107 and 306 mV to drive 100 mA cm^(-2) for the HeR and the OeR,*** catalytic activities are higher than those of other catalysts reported *** high activities of the p-NiCoP/NCFs@CC mainly arise from its peculiar structural *** density functional theory calculation indicates that the Pv·richness,the Ni doping,and the carbon supporting can optimize the adsorption of the H atoms at the catalyst surface and promote the strong electronic couplings between the carbon nanofiber-supported p-NiCoP with the surface oxide layer formed during the OeR *** gives the p-NiCoP/NCFs@CC with the high activities for the HeR and the *** used in alkaline water electrolyzers,the p-NiCoP/NCFs@CC shows the superior activity and excellent stability for overall water splitting.

The transient heat transfer behaviours in a packed bed have been studied using coupled computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and discrete element method(DeM).Intra-particle thermal diffusion,which is a crucial but rarely explored issue,is considered by introducing a one-dimensional diffusion equation in the DeM *** achieve a sufficiently long physical time of simulations,we further reduce the computational cost by applying periodic boundary condition to a small segment of the packed *** study demonstrates a shifting peak heat flow rate from the bottom to the top of the packed bed during the initial warming *** affirm that the influence of thermal diffusion within a particle is noteworthy only for particles exhibiting a high Biot number(e.g.,Bi=1.2).This insight enriches our understanding of heat transfer mechanisms in packed beds and their practical engineering applications.

Analysis of the role of dihydromyricetin derived from vine tea(Ampelopsis grossedentata)on multiple myeloma by activating STAT1/RIG-I axis

Multiple myeloma(MM)is a plasma cell malignancy and remains incurable as it lacks effective curative approaches;thus,novel therapeutic strategies are desperately *** study aimed to explore the therapeutic role of dihydromyricetin(DHM)in MM and explore its *** MM and normal plasma samples,human MM cell lines,and normal plasma cells were used for in vitro *** counting kit-8(CCK-8),flow cytometry,and trans-well assays were performed for the assessment of cell viability,apoptosis,migration,and invasion,*** real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)was employed to assess the mRNA expression of signal transducer and activator of transcription 1(STAT1)and retinoic acid-inducible gene I(RIG-I).Western blotting was employed to assess e-cadherin,N-cadherin,signal transducer,STAT1,p-STAT1,and RIG-I protein expression.A tumor xenograft model was used for in vivo ***,dihydromyricetin(DHM)dose-dependently restrained viability,apoptosis,migration,and invasion,and facilitated apoptosis of U266 *** DHM treatment,the ecadherin level was increased and the N-cadherin level was decreased in U266 and RPMI-8226 cells,suggesting the inhibitory effects of DHM on epithelial-mesenchymal transition(eMT)in ***,the levels of p-STAT1/STAT1 and RIG-I were down-regulated in ***,the STAT1 inhibitor fludarabine undid the suppressive effect of DMH on the malignant characteristics of U266 ***,DHM inhibited MM tumor growth and eMT,and activated STAT1/RIG-I pathway in ***,this study first revealed that DHM can restrain eMT and tumor growth in MM by activating STAT1/RIG-I signaling,which provides a novel drug for the treatment of MM.

Numerical insight into heat transfer enhancement by granules inner-migration in a moving bed:A performance comparison between slanted-stick and plow-shaped agitator

Waste heat recovery of high-temperature granules is one of the most promising sustainable energy supply and carbon reduction ways for industry.A moving bed indirect heat exchanger(MBIHe)with inner-migration was proposed for granular heat *** migration and the enhanced heat transfer induced by two types of agitators(i.e.,agitator with slanted stick A_(s)and with plow-shaped surface A_(p))in the MBIHe are analyzed based on DeM coupled with *** to the effective agitation,the average heat transfer coefficient in the granule side is enhanced to∼3 times compared to that without *** heat recovery efficiency in the moving bed reached more than 70%with the agitations of either A_(s)or A_(p).The heat efficiency of A_(s)is∼7%higher than that of A_(p),but with at least 60%greater rotational *** ensure reliable agitation,the A_(p)is suggested to be adopted in the MBIHe to induce granule migration.

Are Solar Active Regions Born with Neutralized Currents?

Solar active regions(ARs)are formed by the emergence of current-carrying magnetic flux tubes from below the *** for an isolated flux tube the direct and return currents flowing along the tube should balance with each other,it remains controversial whether such a neutralization of currents is also maintained during the emergence *** we present a systematic survey of the degrees of the current neutralization in a large sample of flux-emerging ARs which appeared on the solar disk around the central meridian from 2010 to *** vector magnetograms taken by Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory are employed to calculate the distributions of the vertical current density at the *** on the main phase of flux emergence,i.e.,the phase in which the total unsigned magnetic flux is continuously increased,we statistically examined the ratios of direct to return currents in all the *** a large-sample statistical study suggests that most of the ARs were born with currents close to *** degree of current neutralization seems to be not affected by the active-region size,the active-region growing rate,and the total unsigned *** only correlation of significance as found is that the stronger the magnetic field nonpotentiality is,the further the AR deviates from current neutrality,which supports previous event studies that eruption-productive ARs often have non-neutralized currents.
