Plant-substrate biochar properties critical for mediating reductive debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane

Dibromoethane is a widespread,persistent organic *** are known mediators of reductive dehalogenation by layered Fe^(Ⅱ)-Fe^(Ⅲ)hydroxides(green rust),which can reduce 1,2-dibromoethane to innocuous bromide and ***,the critical characteristics that determine mediator functionality are lesser *** biochar substrates were pyrolyzed at 600℃and 800℃,characterized by elemental analysis,X-ray photo spectrometry C and N surface speciation,X-ray powder diffraction,specific surface area analysis,and tested for mediation of reductive debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane by a green rust reductant under anoxic conditions.A statistical analysis was performed to determine the biochar properties,critical for debromination kine.ics and total debromination *** was shown that selected plant based biochars can mediate debromination of 1,2-dibromoethane,that the highest first order rate constant was 0.082/hr,and the highest debromination extent was 27%in reactivity experiments with 0.1μmol(20μmol/L)1,2-dibromoethane,≈22 mmol/L Fe^(Ⅱ)GR,and 0.12 g/L soybean meal biochar(7 days).Contents of Ni,Zn,N,and P,and the relative contribution of quinone surface functional groups were significantly(pely correlated with 1,2-dibromoethane debromination,while adsorption,specific surface area,and the relative contribution of pyridinic N oxide surface groups were significantly negatively correlated with debromination.

Antioxidant,hepatoprotective and hypolipide.ic effects of methanolic root extract of Cassia singueana in rats following acute and chronic carbon tetrachloride intoxication

Objective:To evaluate in vivo antioxidant and hepatoprotective activities of the methanolic extract of the root of Cassia singueana in rats following acute and chronic carbon tetrachloride ***:Malondialdehyde（MDA）,aspartate aminotransferase（AST）,alanine aminotransferase（ALT） and bilirubin as indices of liver damage and lipid peroxidation were detected in rats after intraperitoneal administration of extract（5 mg/kg）.Results:The liver, kidney and heart showed significant reduction（Pe levels of MDA from（0.18±0.04）,（0.23±0.07） and（0.26±0.10） nmol/mg respectively in the CCl4 control to（0.15±0.03）,（0.17±0.04） and（0.17±0.07） nmol/mg protein in groups pre-treated with the extract for three days at 5 mg/kg(.Similarly, compared to the CCl4 control,significant reduction（Pserum AST,ALT and bilirubin as well as in level of total cholesterol and MDA with concomitant increase in HDL cholesterol, superoxide dismutase and catalase levels when CCl4-intoxicated rats were treated with Cassia singueana root extract for two ***:These results suggest that methanolic extract of Cassia singueana contain potent antioxidant compounds that can offer significant protection against hepatic and oxidative injuries.

This paper deals with the problem of recreating horizontal alignments of existing railway *** main objective is to propose a simple method for automatically obtaining optimized recreated alignments located as close as possible to an existing *** on a previously defined geometric model,two different constrained optimization problems are *** first problem uses only the information provided by a set of points representing the track centerline while the second one also considers additional data about the existing *** proposed methodology consists of a two-stage process in which both problems are solved consecutively using nume.ical *** main results obtained applying this methodology are presented to show its performance and to prove its practical usefulness:an acade.ic example used to compare with other methods,and a case study of a railway section located in Parga(Spain)in which the geometry of its horizontal alignment is successfully recovered.

During the non-breeding season(september-April),Black-tailed Godwits(Limosa limosa)are commonly seen in coastal and inland wetlands of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta in *** hypothesize that the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta,at the overlap between the Central Asian and east Asian-Australasian flyways,may host three subspecies that breed in disjunct areas of temperate and northern Asia:***,***,and *** used mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA)haplotype network and biometric analysis to determine subspecies in captured individuals,and deployed GPS-GSM transmitters to verify breeding areas of individuals with subspecies *** test for differential habitat preferences,we sampled birds at two ecologically distinct habitats known to host the largest concentrations of non-breeding Black-tailed Godwits in Bangladesh:Nijhum Dweep National Park,a tidal coastal habitat with brackish water on the south-central coast,and Tanguar Haor(‘backmarsh'),a seasonal freshwater floodplain in the *** the non-breeding seasons of 2021-2022 and 2022-2023,we sampled and measured 93 Black-tailed Godwits,54 of which were equipped with GPS-GSM *** mt DNA haplotype network analysis confirmed the presence of limosa,melanuroides,and bohaii subspecies at the study ***,indeed,Black-tailed Godwits subspecies,despite having distinct breeding ranges,exhibit(partially)overlapping non-breeding ranges in *** subspecies composition differed significantly between sites,with limosa and bohaii dominating in Tanguar Haor and melanuroides in Nijhum *** the 21 individuals that were tracked to their breeding grounds,18 migrated to the expected breeding range of their respective ***,one bird with a limosa haplotype migrated to a known breeding area of bohaii,whereas two birds with melanuroides haplotypes migrated to the supposed breeding range of ***,while ecological factors at both ends of the flyways may s

Linear Pre.iction for Some Rosenblatt and Rosenblatt-Volterra Processes

Rosenblatt and Rosenblatt-Volterra processes are two families of stochastic processes that are described by double Wiener-It? integrals with singular kernels. The Rosenblatt processes have exponential singular kernels and the Rosenblatt-Volterra processes have singular Volterra kernels for the Wiener-It? integrals. empirical evidence shows that for many control systems the assumption of Gaussian noise is not appropriate so Rosenblatt and Rosenblatt-Volterra processes are some generalizations of Gaussian processes that can provide natural alternatives to Gaussian probability laws. Furthermore,the results for Rosenblatt and Rosenblatt-Volterra processes are tractable for some applications. These results can be compared to pre.iction for Gaussian processes and Gauss-Volterra processes.

This editorial comments on the study by Pierzynowska et al investigating the acini-islet-acinar(AIA)reflex,which integrates the exocrine and endocrine functions of the *** study investigates whether exogenous amylase introduced to the interstitial fluid surrounding pancreatic islets can inhibit insulin ***,high serum amylase levels were associated with pancreatitis,but recent findings suggest that low amylase levels are more linked to metabolic diseases like diabetes and *** their experiment,six pigs were used to examine the effects of amylase infusion on insulin release during an intravenous glucose tolerance *** pigs received different treatments(amylase,saline,or bovine serum albumin),and blood samples were taken over two hours to measure insulin and glucose *** results showed amylase delayed glucose-stimulated insulin release,whereas bovine serum albumin increased insulin levels supporting the existence of the AIA reflex and suggesting amylase as a key metabolic *** supplementation,particularly withα-amylases,may offer therapeutic benefits in preventing and managing metabolic disorders,including diabetes and *** research is warranted to explore the full scope of amylase’s role in metabolic health and its therapeutic potential.

Basin inversion controls on diagene.ic evolution of Lower Cretaceous non-marine succession:the english Wealden sandstones

Modelling the diagene.ic history of a tectonically active basin is crucial for understanding the depositional and post-depositional processes including the evolution and development of porosity and permeability. This study describes the diagene.ic imprints of the inverted Lower Cretaceous Weald Basin and examines the depositional and tectonic controls on the diagene.ic, porosity and permeability evolution of its ***-two representative sandstone samples from the Weald Basin were subjected to detailed microscopic(optical and scanning electron) analyses. The dominant early diagene.ic fabrics include grain-coating detrital clays, degraded and dissolved detrital grains, and vermiform kaolinite pore-filling cement while uplift-related or telogene.ic characteristics are mainly post-compactional pore-filling goethite and hematite cement. This work is significant because it presents the first diagene.ic model of the Lower Cretaceous Wealden sandstones which can be very useful for understanding basins with similar depositional and tectonic settings.

Continuous-flow columns packed with zero-valent iron and iron sulfide as a feasible strategy to remediate the persistent contaminant nitroguanidine

The insensitive munitions compound nitroguanidine(NQ)is used by the *** to avoid unintended ***,NQ also represents an emerging contaminant whose environmental emissions can cause toxicity toward aquatic organisms,indicating the need for effective remediation ***,we investigated the feasibility of treating water contaminated with NQ in continuous-flow columns packed with zero-valent iron(ZVI)or iron sulfide(FeS).Initially,the impact of pH on NQ transformation by ZVI or FeS was evaluated in batch *** pseudo first-order rate constant for NQ transformation(k_(1,NQ))by ZVI was 8-10 times higher at pH 3.0 compared to pH 5.5 and 7.0,whereas similar k_(1,NQ)values were obtained for FeS at pH *** on these findings,the influent p H fed to the ZVIand Fe S-packed columns was adjusted to 3.0 and 5.5,*** reactors transformed NQ into nitrosoguanidine(Nso Q).Further transformation of Nso Q by ZVI produced aminoguanidine,guanidine,and cyanamide,whereas Nso Q transformation by Fe S produced guanidine,ammonium,and traces of *** outperformed Fe S as a reactive material to remove *** ZVI-packed column effectively removed NQ below detection even after 45 d of operation(490 pore volumes,PV).In contrast,NQ breakthrough(removal efficiencyserved after 18 d(180 PV)in the Fe S-packed *** high NQ removal efficiency and long service life of the ZVI-packed column(>490 PV)suggest that the technology is a promising approach for NQ treatment in packed-bed reactors and in situ remediation.
