Ne.aB family of neuronal calcium-binding proteins in health and disease

The N-terminal eF-hand calcium-binding proteins 1–3(Ne.aB1–3) constitute.a family of predominantly neuronal proteins characterized by the presence of at least one eF-hand calcium-binding domain and a functionally less well characterized C-terminal antibiotic biosynthesis monooxyge.ase domain. All three family members were initially discovered due to their inte.actions with other proteins. Ne.aB1 associates with synaptotagmin-1, a critical neuronal protein involved in membrane trafficking and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. Ne.aB2 inte.acts with predominantly striatal G-protein-coupled receptors, while Ne.aB3 partners with amyloid-β A4 precursor protein-binding family A members 2 and 3, key regulators of amyloid-β production. This demonstrates the capacity of the family for inte.actions with various classes of proteins. Ne.aB proteins exhibit distinct subcellular localizations: Ne.aB1 is found in the nucleus and cytosol, Ne.aB2 resides in endosomes and the plasma membrane, and Ne.aB3 is present in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The.antibiotic biosynthesis monooxyge.ase domain, an evolutionarily ancient component, is akin to atypical heme oxyge.ases in prokaryotes but is not wellcharacterized in vertebrates. Prokaryotic antibiotic biosynthesis monooxyge.ase domains typically form dimers, suggesting that calcium-mediated conformational changes in Ne.aB proteins may induce.antibiotic biosynthesis monooxyge.ase domain dimerization, potentially activating some enzymatic properties. However, the substrate for this enzymatic activity re.ains uncertain. Alternatively, calcium-mediated conformational changes might influence protein inte.actions or the subcellular localization of Ne.aB proteins by controlling the.availability of protein–protein inte.action domains situated between the eF hands and the.antibiotic biosynthesis monooxyge.ase domain. Food waste gene.ation is a pressing issue that requires urgent attention and concerted efforts *** staggering amount of food wasted each year not only wastes valuable resources but also e.acerbates environmental,economic,and social *** Waste Management(FWM)consists of a complex array of criteria and sub-criteria,and treatments which seems *** is a need to e.aluate the FWM with the help of important criteria and sub-criteria and treatments to address this *** this study,we identified four important criteria,21 sub-criteria,and four alternatives of FWM for the case of Malaysia using the integrated approach of lite.ature review and expert ***,we employed the.approach of Modified Fuzzy Improved Analytical Hie.archy Process(IAHP)to corroborate the interre.ationships among the identified criteria and sub-criteria,and their associated *** study undertakes linear normalization methods to transform data into comparable numerical values and the Geometric Mean method to handle uncertainty in human ***,the Centroid method is employed to convert fuzzy weights into crisp sets for ease of *** results indicate that environmental is the most essential criterion,followed by social,economic,and *** addition,air and water pollution is identified as the most critical *** Soldier Fly is discovered as the most sustainable FWM treatment,since it performs the best while meeting all the criteria and sub-criteria *** analysis demonstrates that the outputs from the proposed method are robust and *** finding suggests a proper and robust approach to help decision-makers select suitable FWM treatments to tackle various criteria and alternatives especially when handling inconsistent and uncertain judgments during e.aluation.

This paper investigates the free vibration and transient response of interconnected structures including double curved beams and intermediate straight beams,which are.all constructed from functionally graded porous(FGP) materials. The strain potential and kinetic energies of each beam along with the work done by the external force.are calculated. Additionally, a higher-order beam element is introduced to derive stiffness and mass matrices, along with the force vector. The curved and straight beams are discretized, and their assembled stiffness, mass matrices, and force vectors, are *** conditions at the joints are used to derive the total matrices of the entire structure. Subsequently, the natural frequencies and transient response of the system are determined. The.accuracy of the mathe.atical model and the self-developed computer program is validated through the comparison of the obtained results with those of the existing lite.ature.and commercial software.aNSYS, demonstrating excellent ***, a comprehensive study is conducted to investigate the effects of various parameters on the free vibration and transient response of the considered structure.

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and Friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one.at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error be.ause its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of Fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

experimental data from the PeP-II B-factory at 10.6 GeV center-of-mass （c.m.） energy, obtained via initial-state radiation （ISR） with the BABAR detector, are presented. The cross sections for many hadronic processes have been measured from the production threshold to 4-5 GeV of the e^＋e^- c.m. energy. The obtained data allow to study a number of intermediate states and determine the parameters of known resonances and their branching fractions. The exclusive cross section for some number of hadronic sub-processes are presented.

Irisin is a myokine that is gene.ated by cleavage of the membrane protein fibronectin type Ⅲ domain-containing protein 5(FNDC5) in response to physical exercise. Studies reveal that irisin/FNDC5 has neuroprotective functions against Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia in the elderly, by improving cognitive function and reducing amyloid-β and tau pathologies as well as neuroinflammation in cell culture or animal models of Alzheimer's disease. Although current and ongoing studies on irisin/FNDC5 show promising results, further mechanistic studies are required to clarify its potential as a meaningful the.apeutic target for alleviating Alzheimer's disease. We recently found that irisin treatment reduces amyloid-β pathology by increasing the.activity/levels of amyloid-β-degrading enzyme neprilysin secreted from astrocytes. Herein, we present an overview of irisin/FNDC5's protective roles and mechanisms against Alzheimer's disease.
