multiple sclerosis(mS)is a leading cause of chronic neurological disability in young to middle-aged adults,affecting~2.5 million people ***,most therapeutics for mS are systemic immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory drugs,but these drugs are unable to halt or reverse the disease and have the potential to cause serious adverse ***,there is an urgent need for the development of next-generation treatments that,alone or in combination,stop the undesired autoimmune response and contribute to the restoration of *** review analyzes current mS treatments as well as different cell-based therapies that have been proposed to restore homeostasis in mS patients(tolerogenic dendritic cells,regulatory T cells,mesenchymal stem cells,and vaccination with T cells).Data collected from preclinical studies performed in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis(eAe)model of mS in animals,in vitro cultures of cells from mS patients and the initial results of phase I/II clinical trials are analyzed to better understand which parameters are relevant for obtaining an efficient cell-based therapy for mS.

cO oxidation under lean and stoichiometric conditions over ceriazirconia with very low metal contents(cu,co,Ag and Pt)

In this work,several ceria-zirconia based catalysts with very lo w(and equimolar) metal contents were prepared,characterised and tested for the cO oxidatio n reaction(under lean and stoichiometric conditions),trying to emulate those conditions found in a diesel oxidation catalyst(DOc) system from a diesel engine and those encountered under gasoline exhaust(λ=1).The metals chosen are cu,co,Ag and Pt(as a reliable benchmark).The results reveal enormous differences among reducibility and catalytic activity despite quite similar structural and textural properties of the catalysts,showing differences among dispersion(Ag-catalyst seems to present a low level of dispersion).This catalyst seems to be characterised,as well,by a strong electronic interaction between ce and Ag centres which is suggested to yield an improved reducibility under H_(2)-TPR ***,the order in catalytic activity(cu>Ag>co≈Pt>>support) seems not to follow the order found in reducibility and the cu-catalyst seems to be the most active independently on the reaction conditions,yielding nearly overlapped cO oxidation catalytic *** restingly,a stro ng correlation between the catalytic activity under the two conditions tested and the OSc values of the ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2)-supported metal catalysts is ***,OSc parameter measured at 150℃ can be used as a relevant descriptor to evaluate the cO oxidation activity at low and medium conversions for the investigated catalysts,much better than the H_(2)-TPR measurements.

Single atom cu-N-c catalysts for the electro-reduction of cO_(2) to cO assessed by rotating ring-disc electrode

The electrochemical cO_(2) reduction reaction(cO_(2)RR) to controllable chemicals is considered as a promising pathway to store intermittent renewable energy. Herein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(cu-N-c) are successfully developed varying the copper amount and the nature of the copper precursor, for the efficient cO_(2)RR. The electrocatalytic performance of cu-N-c materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(RRDe), technique still rarely explored for cO_(2)RR. For comparison, products are also characterized by online gas chromatography in a H-cell. The as-synthesized cu-Nc catalysts are found to be active and highly cO selective at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 m KHcO_(3), while H_(2) from the competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. RHe). The optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing cu-N_(4) moieties exhibits a cO_(2)-to-cO turnover frequency of 997 h^(-1) at -0.9 V vs. RHe with a H_(2)/cO ratio of 1.8. These results demonstrate that RRDe configuration can be used as a feasible approach for identifying electrolysis products from cO_(2)RR.

Grouping tree species to estimate basal area increment in temperate multispecies forests in Durango,mexico

multispecies forests have received increased scientific attention,driven by the hypothesis that biodiversity improves ecological ***,a greater species diversity presents challenges for forest management and *** study aims to develop basal area growth models for tree species *** analysis is based on a dataset of 423 permanent plots(2,500 m^(2))located in temperate forests in Durango,***,we define tree species cohorts based on individual and neighborhood-based variables using a combination of principal component and cluster ***,we estimate the basal area increment of each cohort through the generalized additive model to describe the effect of tree size,competition,stand density and site *** principal component and cluster analyses assign a total of 37 tree species to eight cohorts that differed primarily with regard to the distribution of tree size and vertical position within the *** generalized additive models provide satisfactory estimates of tree growth for the species cohorts,explaining between 19 and 53 percent of the total variation of basal area increment,and highlight the following results:i)most cohorts show a"rise-and-fall"effect of tree size on tree growth;ii)surprisingly,the competition index"basal area of larger trees"had showed a positive effect in four of the eight cohorts;iii)stand density had a negative effect on basal area increment,though the effect was minor in medium-and high-density stands,and iv)basal area growth was positively correlated with site quality except for an oak *** developed species cohorts and growth models provide insight into their particular ecological features and growth patterns that may support the development of sustainable management strategies for temperate multispecies forests.

BaTiO3 solid solutions co-doped with Gd3+ and eu3+:Synthesis,structural evolution and dielectric properties

In this paper,the synthesis,structural evolution,and dielectric properties of BaTiO3solid solutions codoped with rare earth elements(Gd3+and eu3+) prepared using the solid-state reaction method are *** pure precursor powders of Bacl3,TiO2,Gd2O3,and eu2O3were mixed in stoichiometric proportions,ground in an agate mortar before being uniaxially pressed at 250 mPa and sintered at 1300℃ in air atmosphere for 6 h to obtain Ba1-3xGd2xTi1-3xeu4xO3（x=0,0.0015,0.01 and0.1）.X-ray diffraction（XRD） and Rietveld's refinement results reveal the crystal phase ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO3for the samples with x=0,0.0015 and 0.01, as well as a consistent increment in the lattice parameters caused by the *** solubility limit of Gd3+and eu3+in the BaTiO3structure is reached for the sample with x>0.01,and the orthorhombic eu2TiO5and monoclinic BaTi2O5secondary phases were *** Raman results show the characteristic peaks of ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO3around 716 cm-1（LO of A1 symmetry）,515 cm-1（TO of A1 symmetry）,and 305 cm-1（B1）.The maximum relative permittivity measured at 1 kHz was recorded to be 6151.8 for the sample with x=0.0015,and a decrease in the curie temperature to 105℃ with respect to the undoped sample was *** punctual microanalysis for the samples with x=0.0015,0.01,and 0.1 reveals grains composed of Ba,Ti,O,Gd,and eu homogeneously distributed in the *** Ba/Ti ratios for samples with x=0.0015,0.01 and 0.1 are 2.86,2.91,and 0.68,respectively,indicating substitution at the Ti site for samples with x=0.0015 and 0.01 and a substitution at the Ba site for the sample with x=0.1.
