Rive. conflue.ce.(RCs) are.important fe.ture. w.thin rive. syste.s w.e.e.the.thre. dime.sional(3 D)flow.structure. and the.dow.stre.m mixing of flow. can cause.de.p scour hole.. De.pite.this, fe. me.hods have.be.n propose. to control scouring at RCs. In this study, application of a collar w.s e.pe.ime.tally e.amine. for local scour control at the.point w.e.e.tw. rive.s flow.toge.he.. In particular, e.pe.ime.tal te.ts w.0}e.done.w.th and w.thout collar application at thre. diffe.e.t locations. The.re.ults re.e.l that the.scour de.th is dire.tly proportional to the.discharge.ratio, i.e. the.ratio of late.al discharge.to that in the.channe. dow.stre.m of the.conflue.ce. and the.de.sime.ric Froude.numbe.(Frg).In addition, installation of a collar at RCs can de.re.se.the.scour de.th up to 100%, thus comple.e.y avoiding the.scour proce.s. The.re.ults also show.that by incre.sing the.Frg the.optimal installation location for a collar change. and move. tow.rds the.rive. be. le.e.. Using a collar can also re.uce.the.he.ght of the.point bar forme. dow.stre.m of the.conflue.ce. The.outcome. of the.study allow.de.ivation of an e.uation for pre.icting scour de.th w.e. a collar is applie. as a counte.me.sure. The.analysis of this e.uation show. that the.e.timate. are.mostly affe.te. by the.Frg.
