Walking is the most commonly chosen type of physical activity(PA)during pregnancy and provides several health benefits to both mother and *** initiatives have promoted the importance of walking in general,but little emphasis is directed toward pregnant women,the majority of whom are insufficiently *** women face a variety of dynamic barriers to a physically active lifestyle,some of which are more commonly experienced during specific times throughout the pregnancy *** is unique in that it appears resistant to a number of these barriers that limit other types of PA participation,and it can be meaningfully integrated into some transportation and occupational activities when leisure-time options are *** intervention work suggests that walking programs can be effectively adopted into a typical pregnancy ***,a great deal of work remains to administer successful pregnancy walking interventions,including developing and using validated methods of PA and walking *** narrative review discusses the unique advantages of walking during pregnancy,provides recommendations for future intervention work,and outlines the need for pregnancy-focused community walking *** search procedures were followed to determine sources from the literature specific to walking during pregnancy for use in each section of this review.

Mode filtering based on ponderomotive force nonlinearity in a plasma filled rectangular waveguide

Here a new scheme for mode filtering is proposed. Based on the ponderomotive force effect,propagation of the microwave dual-mode through a plasma-filled metallic rectangular waveguide is investigated. To excite the Te_（20） mode in a rectangular waveguide, the existence of fundamental modes is unavoidable. To filter the destructive mode（Te_（10））, the waveguide is filled with a collisional plasma. Based on the coupling effect, the energy of this destructive Te_（10） mode is transferred to the Te_（20） mode. The proposed structure acts like a mode convertor. The Te_（10） mode become more attenuated and instead the Te_（20） mode is amplified. The plasma filled rectangular waveguide acts as a mode filtering tool.

rapid Identification of rice Samples Using an electronic Nose

Four rice samples of long grain type were tested using an electronic nose (Cyranose-320).Samples of 5 g of each variety of rice were placed individually in vials and were analyzed with the electronic nose unit consisting of 32 polymer *** Cyranose-320 was able to differentiate between varieties of *** chemical composition of the rice odors for differentiating rice samples needs to be *** optimum parameter settings should be considered during the Cyranose-320 training process especially for multiple samples,which are helpful for obtaining an accurate training model to improve identification ***,it is necessary to investigate the e-nose sensor selection for obtaining better classification accuracy.A re- duced number of sensors could potentially shorten the data processing time,and could be used to establish an application pro- cedure and reduce the cost for a specific electronic *** research is needed for developing analytical procedures that adapt the Cyranose-320 as a tool for testing rice quality.

This work proposes a hybrid approach for solving traditional flowshop scheduling problems to reduce the makespan （total completion time）. To solve scheduling problems, a combination of Decision Tree （DT） and Scatter Search （SS） algorithms are used. Initially, the DT is used to generate a seed solution which is then given input to the SS to obtain optimal / near optimal solutions of makespan. The DT used the entropy function to convert the given problem into a tree structured format / set of rules. The SS provides an extensive investigation of the search space through diversification. The advantages of both DT and SS are used to form a hybrid approach. The proposed algorithm is tested with various benchmark datasets available for flowshop scheduling. The statistical results prove that the proposed method is competent and efficient for solving flowshop problems.

ethoxylation and propoxylation reactions are performed in the industry to produce mainly non-ionic surfactants and ethylene oxide(eO)–propylene oxide(PO) *** the reactions occur in gas–liquid reactors by feeding gaseous eO,PO or both into the reactor containing a solution of an alkaline catalyst(KOH or Na OH).Non-ionic surfactants are produced by using liquid starters like fatty alcohols,fatty acids or alkyl-phenols,while when the scope is to prepare eO–PO copolymers the starter can be a mono-or multi-functional alcohol of low molecular *** reactions are strongly exothermic,and eO and PO,in some conditions,can give place to runaway and also to explosive side ***,the choice of a suitable reactor is a key factor for operating in safe conditions.A correct reactor design requires:(i) the knowledge of the kinetic laws governing the rates of the occurring reactions;(ii) the role of mass and heat transfer in affecting the reaction rate;(iii) the solubility of eO and PO in the reacting mixture with the non-ideality of the reacting solutions considered;(iv) the density of the reacting *** these aspects have been studied by our research group for different starters of industrial interest,and the data collected by using semibatch well stirred laboratory reactors have been employed for the simulation of industrial reactors,in particular Gas–Liquid Spray Tower Loop reactors.

Synthesis of a copper(Ⅱ) oxide–montmorillonite composite for lead removal

The synthesis of a copper(II) oxide–montmorillonite composite and its application in the removal of lead(II) ions in solution were investigated. The Acros Organics (ACOr) montmorillonite was activated using potassium hydroxide solution. The activated ACOr montmorillonite was titrated with copper(II) nitrate solution to produce the copper(II) oxide–montmorillonite composite. Adsorption experiments were conducted using batch-mode techniques under reducing conditions at ambient temperature. The reaction mechanism indicated a higher proton coefficient, greater intraparticle diffusion, and higher mass transfer rates compared with those achieved with bare montmorillonite. The intraparticle diffusion constant derived from the slope was 2.93^-3 (mg·g^–1·min^–0.5), and the intercept C was 9.86,≠ 0. In the presence of a CuO coating, the adsorption efficiency was 85.55% at pH 4 and 89.62% at pH 7. Therefore, the copper(II) oxide-montmorillonite composite, as a novel adsorbent with a very high adsorption capacity, exhibited substantially enhanced adsorption of Pb^2+ ions compared with bare montmorillonite.

Cyclokinetic models and simulations for high-frequency turbulence in fusion plasmas

Cyrokinetics is widely applied in plasma physics. However, this framework is limited to weak turbulence levels and low drift-wave frequencies because high-frequency gyro-motion is reduced by the gyro-phase averaging. In order to test where gyrokinetics breaks down, Waltz and Zhao developed a new theory, called cyclokinetics [r. e. Waltz and Zhao Deng, Phys. Plasmas 20, 012507 （2013）]. Cyclokinetics dynamically follows the high-frequency ion gyro-motion which is nonlineaxly coupled to the low-frequency drift-waves interrupting and suppressing gyro-averaging. Cyclokinetics is valid in the high-frequency （ion cyclotron frequency） regime or for high turbulence levels. The ratio of the cyclokinetic perturbed distribution function over equilibrium distribution function δf/F can approach 1. This work presents, for the first time, a numerical simulation of nonlinear cyclokinetic theory for ions, and describes the first attempt to completely solve the ion gyro-phase motion in a nonlinear turbulence system. Simulations are performed [Zhao Deng and r. e. Waltz, Phys. Plasmas 22（5）, 056101 （2015）] in a local flux-tube geometry with the parallel motion and variation suppressed by using a newly developed code named rCYCLO, which is executed in parallel by using an implicit time-advanced eulerian （or continuum） scheme [Zhao Deng and r. e. Waltz, Comp. Phys. Comm. 195, 23 （2015）]. A novel numerical treatment of the magnetic moment velocity space derivative operator guarantee saccurate conservation of incremental entropy. By comparing the more fundamental cyclokinetic simulations with the corresponding gyrokinetic simulations, the gyrokinetics breakdown condition is quantitatively tested. Gyrokinetic transport and turbulence level recover those of cyclokinetics at high relative ion cyclotron frequencies and low turbulence levels, as required. Nuclear mechanics during constricted migration

Cell migration through narrow interstitial space in tissues is commonly seen in both physiological and pathological conditions. For example, immune cells have to squeeze through vasculature and extracellular matrix to reach the wound or diseased sites, and similarly cancer cells need to crawl through porous space in tissues to invade surrounding tumor-free regions. Therefore, the bulky stiff nucleus in the cell becomes a barrier during constricted migration making such process pore-size dependent with smaller pores exponentially alleviate the passage capability. However, in some cases, cells can actively deform their nuclei to squeeze through constrictions although some price needs to be paid. In this review, we focus on:(1) nuclear structures and morphological regulations,(2) proposed mechanisms that drive constricted migration,(3) short-term consequences such as nuclear envelope (Ne) rupture and DNA damage during such process,(4) biophysical factors that facilitate Ne rupture, and (5) long term consequences such as genomic variation caused by repetitive Ne rupture. Both experimental results and modeling are provided with the intention to better understand the constricted migration.

Lipid-lowering effect of microencapsulated peptides from brewer’s spent grain in high-sucrose diet-fed rats

Brewer’s spent grain(BSG)-a byproduct generated from the processing of beer-brewing industry-is currently recognized as an important source of bioactive peptides with potential health *** previous studies we demonstrated that peptides obtained from BSG(BSG-P)can exert in vitro biofunctional activities including hypolipidemic ***,there are no studies about the effects of gastrointestinal digestion on BSG lipid-lowering peptides and it is unknown whether the bioactive properties observed in vitro remain in *** aims of this work were to evaluate the microencapsulation as strategy to preserve hypolipidemic BSG-P under a simulated gastrointestinal digestion,and the bioavailability of microencapsulated BSG-P using a rodent model of hyperlipidemia and other metabolic-related disorders induced by the consumption of a high-sucrose *** vitro studies showed that microencapsulation improved the BSG-P reduced hypolipidemic activity observed under a simulated gastrointestinal digestion by increasing the inhibition of the fat digestion enzymes,pancreatic lipase and cholesterol ***,in vivo studies demonstrated that microencapsulated BSG-P were also able to reduce the increased serum lipid levels(triglycerides-TG-cholesterol and free fatty acids),energy intake,visceral adipocytes size and TG content observed in sucrose-rich diet-fed *** was accompanied by reduced liver lipids levels and the activities of key enzymes involved in dietary fat ***,our findings show that microencapsulation is a useful strategy to preserve the hypolipidemic activity of BSG-P and support the concept that microencapsulated BSG-P would be an interesting and cheaper natural source to prevent hyperlipidemias and its related-disorders.

Unsupervised learning of load signatures to estimate energy-related building features using surrogate modelling techniques

Characterization of an existing building’s energy-related features is critical to inform maintenance and retrofit ***,existing field-scale characterization methods tend to be labour intensive,invasive,and require high fidelity longitudinal data gathered through tightly regulated *** highlights the need for a low cost,scalable,and efficient screening *** paper puts forward a surrogate model-based approach to rapidly estimate energy-related building *** this end,energyPlus models for 12 midrise office archetypes,all with a rectangular footprint,are *** thousand variants of each archetype are generated by altering envelope,causal heat gain,and heating,ventilation,and air conditioning operation features.A unique load signature is derived for each variant’s heating and cooling energy *** parameters of the load signatures are clustered,then each cluster is associated with a set of plausible energy-related *** accuracy of the results was evaluated using five test buildings not seen by the *** method could effectively identify building features with reasonable accuracy and no significant degradation in performance across all 12 archetypes.
