In this work, the use of lithium niobate （LiNbO3）, a ferroelectric and photocatalyst material, is investi- gated as a new type of cathode catalyst for wastewater-fed single-chamber microbial fuel cells （MFCs）. Carbon cloth electrodes coated with LiNbO3 were studied with and without UV-vis irradiation to assess its photocatalytic behavior in these devices. The synthesized phase of LiNbO3 was characterized by X- ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, particle size distribution, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. The MFC containing a LiNbO3-based cathode exhibited a maximum open circuit potential and power output of 400 mV and 131 mW/m^3, respectively, under irradiation. This cathode configuration also achieved the maximum chemical oxygen demand removal of 84% after 120 h of MFC operation. These results show that ferroelectric materials such as LiNbO3 could be used as cathode cat- alysts in MFC devices. As a complementary analysis, the removal of the heavy metals detected in the wastewater was also monitored.

The measurement of influence in social networks has received a lot of attention in the data mining community. Influence maximization refers to the process of finding influential users who make the most of information or product adoption. In real settings, the influence of a user in a social network can be modeled by the set of actions （e.g., ＂like＂, ＂share＂, ＂retweet＂, ＂comment＂） performed by other users of the network on his/her publications. To the best of our knowledge, all proposed models in the literature treat these actions equally. However, it is obvious that a ＂like＂ of a publication means less influence than a ＂share＂ of the same publication. This suggests that each action has its own level of influence （or importance）. In this paper, we propose a model （called Social Action-Based Influence Maximization Model, SAIM） for influence maximization in social networks. In SAIM, actions are not considered equally in measuring the ＂influence power＂ of an individual, and it is composed of two major steps. In the first step, we compute the influence power of each individual in the social network. This influence power is computed from user actions using PageRank. At the end of this step, we get a weighted social network in which each node is labeled by its influence power. In the second step of SAIM, we compute an optimal set of influential nodes using a new concept named ＂influence-BFS tree＂. experiments conducted on large-scale real-world and synthetic social networks reveal the good performance of our model SAIM in computing, in acceptable time scales, a minimal set of influential nodes allowing the maximum spreading of information.

In this work, a systematic approach is presented to obtain the input-output equations of a single loop 4-bar spatial mechanisms. The dialytic method along with Denavit-Hartenberg parameters can be used to obtain these equations efficiently. A genetic algorithm （GA） has been used to solve the problem of spatial mechanisms synthesis. Two types of mechanisms, e.g., RSCR and RSPC （R： revolute; S： spherical; C： cylindrical; P： prismatic）, have illustrated the application of the GA to solve the problem of function generation and path generation. In some cases, the GA method becomes trapped in a local minimum. A combined GA-fuzzy logic （GA-FL） method is then used to improve the final result. The results show that GAs, combined with an adequate description of the mechanism, are well suited for spatial mechanism synthesis problems and have neither difficulties inherent to the choice of the initial feasible guess, nor a problem of convergence, as it is the case for deterministic methods.

This paper deals with a design approach of a gait training machine based on a quantitative gait analysis. The proposed training machine is composed of a body weight support device and a cable-driven parallel robot. This paper is focused on the cable-driven robot, which controls the pose of the lower limb through an orthosis placed on the patient＇s leg. The cable robot reproduces a normal gait movement through the motion of the orthosis. A motion capture system is used to perform the quantitative analysis of a normal gait, which will be used as an input to the inverse dynamic model of the cable robot. By means of an optimization algorithm, the optimal design parameters, which minimize the tensions in the cables, are determined. Two constraints are considered, i.e., a non-negative tension in the cables at all times, and a free cable/end-effector collision. Once the optimal solution is computed, a power analysis is carried out in order to size the robot actuators. The proposed approach can be easily extended for the design study of a similar type of cable robots.

Optimizing the dataset size of a topo-bathymetric survey for Hammam Debagh Dam, Algeria

The capacity of water reservoirs may be considerably reduced by sediment transport and *** phenomenon may occur quickly in regions prone to erosion, such as Hammam Debagh Dam region in Algeria. For better management of water resources, it is important to estimate the volume of a reservoir by regular and frequent topo-bathymetric surveys. Topo-bathymetric surveys with a high point measurement density are expensive and time-consuming. To reduce this expense and to increase the frequency of topo-bathymetric surveys, it is required to optimize their size and density. The complete survey of the reservoir created by the Hammam Debagh Dam in Algeria was examined in comparison with 19 reduction subsets using geostatistics. The study showed that the complete dataset of 32,164 points, corresponding to a density of 42 points ha-1could be reduced to 10,000 points, i.e. 13 points ha-1,without affecting the estimation of the water volume in the reservoir. This reduction could considerably simplify the work load, reduce the expenses to do these surveys, and, therefore, allow for an increased frequency of topo-bathymetric surveys.

Aerobic Spore-Forming Bacteria in the Ultra High Temperature Milk Produced in the North West of Algeria

The occurrence of the spore-forming bacteria in different segments of production lines of Ultra High Temperature （UHT） milk of a commercial plant and its transfer to the final product was studied. The samples were collected from different segments of production lines from reception to packaging sections, over a period of 75 days at a rate of one sampling a week, from plants in North West of Algeria. The total colony count of aerobic spore-forming bacteria was done using Plate Count Agar （PCA） method. The results showed that there was more than 1 ×10^3 CFU/mL at the level of 50%, 25%, 37.5%, 62.5% and 37.5% of the analyzed samples of milk powder, pasteurized milk, UHT milk （before storage）, UHT milk stored at 55℃ for 7 days and UHT milk stored at 30℃ for 14 days, respectively. The mean total colony count of aerobic spore-forming bacteria was considerably lower in the UHT milk than in the other samples, while the higher proportion of aerobic spore-forming bacteria was noticed to be 32.58% and 30.90% in the UHT milk stored at 55℃ and 30℃, respectively. The results obtained by the classic biochemical identification （Bacillus API 20e）, interpreted by software of calculation for microbial identification reflected the presence of especially Bacillus sphaericus. The other species found were： Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus coagulans, Bacillus licheniformis and Bacillus stearothermophilus. The study reveals that the proportion of aerobic spore-forming bacteria in the final product depends on temperature and storage periods.

According to federal communication commission (FCC) rules, the 3.1 - 10.6 GHz band is allocated to the amateur ultra wideband (UWB) applications. On the other hand, the 5.15 - 5.825 GHz band is associated with the wireless LAN (WLAN) applications according to Ieee 802.11 and HIPeRLAN/2 standards. Therefore, an unwanted intrusion will be expected between these two frequency requests. In This paper a comprehensive review will be done over a wide range of UWB microstrip antennas which all have the band notching property over the WLAN band to effectively avoid this interference. All the band notching techniques in the recent papers will be categorized in 4 distinct methods including the tuning stub, the shaped slot, the parasitic element, and the fractal geometry. A few typical papers will be introduced and evaluated in each category for declaration purposes. At last, a comparison will be done between these methods and the relative papers.
