Monthly For.cast of Indian Southwest Monsoon r.infall Based on NCEP’s Coupled For.cast System

The monthly for.cast of Indian monsoon r.infall dur.ng June to September.is investigated by using the hindcast data sets of the National Centr. for.Envir.nmental Pr.diction (NCEP)’s oper.tional coupled model (known as the Climate For.cast System) for.25 year. fr.m 1981 to 2005 with 15 ensemble member. each. The ensemble mean monthly r.infall over.land r.gion of India fr.m CFS with one month lead for.cast is under.stimated dur.ng June to September. With r.spect to the inter.annual var.ability of monthly r.infall it is seen that the only significant cor.elation coefficients (CCs) ar. found to be for.June for.cast with May initial condition and September.r.infall with August initial conditions. The CFS has got lowest skill for.the month of August followed by that of July. Consider.ng the lower.skill of monthly for.cast based on the ensemble mean, all 15 ensemble member. ar. used separ.tely for.the pr.par.tion of pr.bability for.cast and differ.nt pr.bability scor.s like Br.er.Scor. (BS), Br.er.Skill Scor. (BSS), Accur.cy, Pr.bability of Detection (POD), False Alar. r.tio (FAr., Thr.at Scor. (TS) and Heidke Skill Scor. (HSS) for.all the thr.e categor.es of for.casts (above nor.al, below nor.al and nor.al) have been calculated. In ter.s of the BS and BSS the skill of the monthly pr.bability for.cast in all the thr.e categor.es ar. better.than the climatology for.casts with positive BSS values except in case of nor.al for.cast of June and July. The “TS”, “HSS” and other.scor.s also pr.vide useful pr.bability for.cast in case of CFS except the nor.al categor. of July for.cast. Thus, it is seen that the monthly pr.bability for.cast based on NCEP CFS coupled model dur.ng the southwest monsoon season is ver. encour.ging and is found to be ver. useful.

An extr.me （weather.and climate） event does not only mean that an extr.me occur. at a location, but mor. gener.lly it can impact a cer.ainar.a and last a cer.ain per.od of time, which is defined as a r.gional extr.me event （r.E） with a cer.ain impacted ar.a and dur.tion. The conceptof r.E has been defined to allow mainly objective assessment of the events without a pr.-deter.ined boundar. and dur.tion. This paper.r.viewsthe studies on r.Es published dur.ng the past 20 year., especially r.cent year.. Mainly in view of methodology, these studies can be divided intothr.e types studies focusing on spatial simultaneity, studies focusing on tempor.l per.istence, and studies identifying r.Es. The methodsidentifying r.Es include two kinds, e.g., type-I methods str.ssing r.E＇s tempor.l per.istence within a r.latively cer.ain ar.a and type-IImethods focusing on catching a complete r.E. Identification methods pr.posed in this paper.could pr.vide valuable infor.ation for.var.ouspur.oses, such as r.al-time monitor.ng, estimating long-ter. changes, mechanism diagnosis, for.casting study and even attr.bution *** on r.Es is impor.ant for.objectively defining extr.me weather.and climate events, which depends on the spatial and tempor.l scales ofinter.st. Such an objective definition will suppor. ongoing climate monitor.ng and impr.ve the assessment of how r.gional extr.me events havechanged over.time.

Device scaling is an impor.ant par. of the ver. lar.e scale integr.tion （VLSI） design to boost up the success path of VLSI industr., which r.sults in denser.and faster.integr.tion of the devices. As technology node moves towar.s the ver. deep submicr.n r.gion, leakage cur.ent and cir.uit r.liability become the key issues. Both ar. incr.asing with the new technology gener.tion and affecting the per.or.ance of the over.ll logic cir.uit. The VLSI designer. must keep the balance in power.dissipation and the cir.uit＇s per.or.ance with scaling of the devices. In this paper. differ.nt scaling methods ar. studied fir.t. These scaling methods ar. used to identify the effects of those scaling methods on the power.dissipation and pr.pagation delay of the CMOS buffer.cir.uit. For.mitigating the power.dissipation in scaled devices, we have pr.posed a r.liable leakage r.duction low power.tr.nsmission gate （LPTG） appr.ach and tested it on complementar. metal oxide semiconductor.（CMOS） buffer.cir.uit. All simulation r.sults ar. taken on HSPICE tool with Ber.eley pr.dictive technology model （BPTM） BSIM4 bulk CMOS files. The LPTG CMOS buffer.r.duces 95.16% power.dissipation with 84.20% impr.vement in figur. of mer.t at 32 nm technology node. Var.ous pr.cess, voltage and temper.tur. var.ations ar. analyzed for.pr.ving the r.bustness of the pr.posed appr.ach. Leakage cur.ent uncer.ainty decr.ases fr.m 0.91 to 0.43 in the CMOS buffer.cir.uit that causes lar.e cir.uit r.liability.

We have pr.sented an analysis of the gate leakage cur.ent of the IP3 static r.ndom access memor. （Sr.M） cell str.ctur. when the cell is in idle mode（per.or.s no data r.ad/wr.te oper.tions） and active mode （per.or.s data r.ad/wr.te oper.tions）,along with the r.quir.ments for.the over.ll standby leakage power.active wr.te and r.ad power..A compar.son has been dr.wn with existing Sr.M cell str.ctur.s,the conventional 6T,PP, P4 and P3 *** the supply voltage,V_（DD） = 0.8 V,a r.duction of 98%,99%,92%and 94%is obser.ed in the gate leakage cur.ent in compar.son with the 6T,PP,P4 and P3 Sr.M cells,r.spectively,while at V_（DD） = 0.7 V,it is 97%,98%,87%and 84%.A significant r.duction is also obser.ed in the over.ll standby leakage power.by 56%〉, the active wr.te power.by 44%and the active r.ad power.by 99%,compar.d with the conventional 6T Sr.M cell at V_（DD）= 0.8 V,with no loss in cell stability and per.or.ance with a small ar.a *** simulation envir.nment used for.this wor. is 45 nm deep sub-micr.n complementar. metal oxide semiconductor.CMOS） technology,t_（ox） = 2.4 nm,K_（thn） = 0.22 V,K_（thp） = 0.224 V,V_（DD） = 0.7 V and 0.8 V,at T = 300 K.

We have pr.sented a compar.tive account of the high fr.quency pr.spective as well as noise behavior. of wide-bandgap 4H-SiC and 6H-SiC based on differ.nt str.ctur.s of IMPATT diodes at sub-millimeter.wave fr.quencies up to 2.18 THz. The computer.simulation study establishes the feasibility of the SiC based IMPATT diode as a high power.density ter.her.z sour.e. The most significant featur. lies in the noise behavior.of the SiC IMPATT diodes. It is noticed that the 6H-SiC DDr.diode shows the least noise measur. of 26.1 dB as compar.d to that of other.str.ctur.s. Fur.her. it is noticed that the noise measur. of the SiC IMPATT diode is less at a higher.oper.ting fr.quency compar.d to that at a lower.oper.ting fr.quency.

Multi-agent technology has been used in many complex distr.buted and concur.ent systems. A r.ilway system is such a safety cr.tical system and car.ful inves- tigation of the functional components is ver. impor.ant. Study of the var.ous functional components in communi- cation-based tr.in contr.l （CBTC） system necessitates a good str.ctur.l design followed by its validation and ver. ification thr.ugh a for.al modelling technique. The wor. pr.sented her. is the follow up of our.multi-agent-based CBTC system for.Indian r.ilway designed using the methodology for.engineer.ng system of softwar. agents. Behaviour.l analysis of the designed system involves sever.l oper.ting scenar.os that ar.se dur.ng tr.in r.n, and helps in under.tanding the r.action of the system to such situations. This validation and ver.fication ar. ver. impor.ant as it allows the system designer.to cr.tically evaluate the desir.d function of the system and to cor.ect the design er.or., if any, befor. its actual implementation. Modelling, validation and ver.fication of the str.ctur.l design thr.ugh Colour.d petr. net （CPN） ar. centr.l to this paper. Analysis of simulation r.sults validates the efficacy of the design.

The changes in species composition, abundance and for.st stand str.ctur. wer. analyzed acr.ss altitudinal r.gimes in tr.pical for.sts of Easter. Ghats of nor.her. Andhr. Pr.desh, India. Thr.e 1-ha plots wer. established with one each in low, medium and high altitudes. A total of 153 species, 2129 stems （709 stems .ha^-1） of ≥10 cm gir.h wer. enumer.ted. Species r.chness and diver.ity patter. var.ed along altitudinal gr.dient and incr.ased with the altitude. Species r.chness var.ed fr.m 52 to 110 species-ha^-1 and stand density fr.m 639 to 836 ***^-1 with aver.ge basal ar.a of 34.39 m^***^-1. Shannon-Wiener.index （H＇） r.nged fr.m 4.55 to 5.17. Low altitude （i.e., Site 1） is dominated byXylia xylocar.a （59.22） and Lager.tr.emia par.iflor. （23.90）, medium altitude （i.e., Site 2） by Xylia xylocar.a （45;50） Bur.er. ser.ata （17.29）, and high altitude （i.e., Site 3） has Schleicher. oleosa （28.25） Pter.car.us mar.upium （26.55） as pr.dominant species. Taxonomically, r.biaceae （12 species）, Fabaceae （12）, Euphor.iaceae （11）, r.taceae （7） and Lanr.ceae （7） wer. dominant families. Density-wise, Fabaceae, Combr.taceae, Euphor.iaceae, Anacar.iaceae and Myr.aceae wer. abundant. Thus, conser.ation assessment based on altitudinal r.gimes and the infor.ation on species str.ctur. and function can pr.vide baseline infor.ation for.monitor.ng and sustaining the biodiver.ity.

This paper.descr.bes an analysis of the plants of Sambalpur.distr.ct of Or.ssa,India which have been used medicinally by local people. The families having medicinal values ar. analysed using Moer.an's method of r.gr.ssion analysis. Ther. wer. 136 plant families r.cor.ed fr.m the study ar.a. The analysis of families showed that the Euphor.iaceae family being used most ethnomedicinally by the local people in Sambalpur.distr.ct of Or.ssa,wher.as Poaceae is used least one. This type of study deter.ines the degr.e of impor.ance of plant families in the medicinal flor. of the r.gion.

The Mahanadi delta,deposited on a ser.es of hor.t and gr.ben basement str.ctur.s,is consider.d an extension of the East Lamber. r.ft of *** study is based on the hydr.geochemical assessment of this deltaic aquifer.system and geospatial analysis ther.of,to appr.ciate the basement str.ctur. influence on gr.undwater.*** ion chemistr. of subsur.ace water. por.r.ys a distinct saline contamination acr.ss the ter.ain and var.ed r.gimes of water.types,specifically with r.spect to souther. and nor.her. par.s of this aquifer.*** of the study indicate a gener.l near.sur.ace saline hor.zon and significant fr.gmentation of the hydr.static ***,in tur.,implies notewor.hy influence of for.ational water.to salinity r.gimes and basin str.ctur.l changes for.the escape of these water. to sur.oundings.A plot of r.cent low intensity ear.hquakes displays pr.ximity of epicenter. to the faults as well as str.king similar.ty to the tr.nd of ter.estr.al faults indicating multiple r.activations of the *** fur.her.cor.obor.te the above findings,spatial patter. analysis of individual hydr.chemical var.ables is car.ied out which r.veals specific cluster. of sour.es(gr.undwater.mixing)and sinks(gr.undwater.disper.ion) in pr.ximity to basement fault *** the faults can be disr.gar.ed as conduits or.bar.ier. owing to their.gr.at depth,the over.ying sedimentar. mass,par.icular.y,the hor.zons with significant clayey content have been distor.ed due to post r.ft subsidence and fault r.activations.A pr.ximity analysis of ionic cluster. points towar.s a gr.ater.influence of longitudinal faults to that of the tr.nsver.e ones on gr.undwater.mixing or.disper.ion.
