This paper presents a study of the segmentation of medical *** paper provides a solid introduction to image enhancement along with image segmentation *** the.f.rst step,the morphological operations are employed to ensure image detail protection and *** objective of using morphological operations is to remove the defects in the texture of the ***,the.f.zzy C-Means(fCM)clustering algorithm is used to modify membership function based only on the spatial neighbors instead of the distance between pixels within local spatial neighbors and cluster *** proposed technique is very simple to implement and significantly fast since it is not necessary to compute the distance between the neighboring pixels and the cluster *** is also e.f.cient when dealing with noisy images because of its ability to e.f.ciently improve the membership partition *** results are pe.f.rmed on different medical image ***(Us),X-ray(Mammogram),Computed Tomography(CT),Positron emission Tomography(PeT),and Magnetic Resonance(MR)images are the main medical image modalities used in this *** obtained results illustrate that the proposed technique can achieve good results with a short time and e.f.cient image *** results on different image modalities show that the proposed technique can achieve segmentation accuracies of 98.83%,99.71%,99.83%,99.85%,and 99.74%for Us,Mammogram,CT,PeT,and MRI images,respectively.

Impact of rainfed and irrigated agriculture systems on soil carbon stock under different climate scenarios in the semi-arid region of Brazil

Understanding the dynamics of soil organic carbon(SOC) is of fundamental importance in land use and management, whether in the current researches or in future scenarios of agriculture systems considering climate change. In order to evaluate SOC stock of the three districts(Delmiro Gouveia, Pariconha, and Inhapi districts) in the semi-arid region of Brazil in rainfed and irrigated agriculture systems under different climate scenarios using the Century model, we obtained RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 climate scenarios derived from the eta Regional Climate Model(eta-Had GeM2-eS and eta-MIROC5) from the National Institute.f.r Space Research, and then input the data of bulk density, p H, soil texture, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and rainfall into the soil and climate.f.les of the Century model. The results of this study showed that the eta-Had GeM2-eS model was e.f.ctive in estimating air temperature in the.f.ture period. In rainfed agriculture system, SOC stock under the baseline scenario was lower than that under RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 climate scenarios, while in irrigated agriculture system, SOC stock in the almost all climate scenarios(RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) and models(eta-Had GeM2-eS and eta-MIROC5) will increase by 2100. The results of this study will help producers in the semi-arid region of Brazil adopt specific agriculture systems aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

Artificial intelligence model for predicting geomechanical characteristics using easy-to-acquire offset logs without deploying logging tools

This study focuses on predicting acoustic and mechanical rock properties using random forest and feed forward neural network models to evaluate the likelihood of developing e.f.cient ways of handling absence of rock properties at offset *** Random forest algorithm was used for direct prediction of the sonic data without considering the depth range of the.f.cies;while.f.ed forward Neural network was used to predict the sonic data with emphasis on the lithofacies *** accuracy of these approaches was used in choosing the best and the most robust model for predicting sonic data when estimating formation strength and mechnical *** log was predicted after training a combination of caliper log,gamma log,depth,density log and resistivity log from offset wells.5 hidden layers that accounts for the data structural complexities was included in the model architecture.A multilayer perceptron network was adopted for the Random forest algorithm to handle linear combinations of input data *** error computations were used to evaluate the pe.f.rmance of the ***,mechanical properties and sanding potential was evaluated using standard relations and appropriate depositional *** forest algorithm gave the best prediction accuracy of more than 96%,but the.f.ed forward network has the lower mean absolute error and mean squared error of 2.75 and 5.93 ***,the predicted compressive and shear wave velocity show increase of values with depth,a behavior that is capable of identifying payzone *** was validated by the distinction seen within the 200 feet gas sand formation in the deeper portion of the studied well(9600e9800 feet).Potential failure portions of the wells,a common feature in the.f.eld,were inferred from the sanding potential computed using the predicted mechanical properties value.

A novel method for geometric quality assurance of rock joint replicas in direct shear testing-Part 2:Validation and mechanical replicability

each rock joint is unique by nature which means that utilization of replicas in direct shear tests is required in experimental parameter ***,a method to acquire knowledge about the ability of the replicas to imitate the shear mechanical behavior of the rock joint and their dispersion in direct shear testing is *** this study,a novel method is presented for geometric quality assurance of *** aim is to facilitate generation of high-quality direct shear testing data as a prerequisite.f.r reliable subsequent analyses of the *** Part 1 of this study,two quality assurance parameters,smf and V_(Hp100),are derived and their usefulness for evaluation of geometric deviations,*** reproducibility,is *** Part 2,the parameters are validated by showing a correlation between the parameters and the shear mechanical behavior,which qualifies the parameters for usage in the quality assurance *** results from direct shear tests presenting comparisons between replicas and the rock joint show that replicas fulfilling proposed threshold values of σ_(mf)e a narrow dispersion and imitate the shear mechanical behavior of the rock joint in all aspects apart from having a slightly lower peak shear *** wear in these replicas,which have similar morphology as the rock joint,is in the same areas as in the rock *** wear is slightly larger in the rock joint and therefore the discrepancy in peak shear strength derives from differences in material properties,possibly from differences in *** is shown by application of the suggested method that the quality assured replicas manufactured following the process employed in this study phenomenologically capture the shear strength characteristics,which makes them useful in parameter studies.

High order modes of intense second harmonic light produced from a plasma aperture

Because of their ability to sustain extremely high-amplitude electromagnetic fields and transient density and field profiles,plasma optical components are being developed to amplify,compress,and condition high-power laser *** recently demonstrated the potential to use a relativistic plasma aperture—produced during the interaction of a high-power laser pulse with an ultrathin foil target—to tailor the spatiotemporal properties of the intense.f.ndamental and second-harmonic light generated[Duff et al.,***.10,105(2020)].Herein,we explore numerically the interaction of an intense laser pulse with a preformed aperture target to generate second-harmonic laser light with higher-order spatial *** maximum generation e.f.ciency is found for an aperture diameter close to the.f.ll width at half maximum of the laser focus and for a micrometer-scale target *** spatial mode generated is shown to depend strongly on the polarization of the drive laser pulse,which enables changing between a linearly polarized TeM01 mode and a circularly polarized Laguerre–Gaussian LG01 *** demonstrates the use of a plasma aperture to generate intense higher-frequency light with selectable spatial mode structure.

Nonlinear Propagation of Positron-Acoustic Periodic Travelling Waves in a Magnetoplasma with Superthermal electrons and Positrons

The nonlinear propagation of positron acoustic periodic （PAP） travelling waves in a magnetoplasma composed of dynamic cold positrons, superthermal kappa distributed hot positrons and electrons, and stationary positive ions is examined. The reductive perturbation technique is employed to derive a nonlinear Zakharov Kuznetsov equation that governs the essential features of nonlinear PAP travelling waves. Moreover, the bifurcation theory is used to investigate the propagation of nonlinear PAP periodic travelling wave solutions. It is found that kappa distributed hot positrons and electrons provide only the possibility of existence of nonlinear compressive PAP travelling waves. It is observed that the superthermality of hot positrons, the concentrations of superthermal electrons and positrons, the positron cyclotron frequency, the direction cosines of wave vector k along the z-axis, and the concentration of ions play pivotal roles in the nonlinear propagation of PAP travelling waves. Tile present investigation may be used to understand the.f.rmation of PAP structures in the space and laboratory plasmas with superthermal hot positrons and electrons.
