Tuberculosis versus non-Hodgkin's lymphomas involving small bowel mesentery:Evaluation with contrast-enhanced computed tomography

AIM: To evaluate the specific computed tomography (CT) imaging criteria for differentiating tuberculosis involving the small bowel mesenteric lymph nodes from lymphomas. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the anatomic distribution,CT enhancement patterns of lymphoma in 18 patients with mesenteric tuberculosis and 22 with untreated non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL) involving small bowel mesentery (SBM). Of the 18 patients with tuberculosis,9 had purely mesenteric tuberculous lymphadenopathy (TL),and 9 had mesenteric TL accompanied with tuberculous mesenteritis (TLM). RESULTS: CT showed that tuberculosis and NHL mainly affected lymph nodes in the body and root of SBM. Homogeneously enhanced lymph nodes in the body and root of SBM were found more often in the NHL (P < 0.05). Homogeneously mixed peripheral enhanced lymph nodes in the body of SBM were found more often in mesenteric TL and TLM (P < 0.05). Peripheral enhanced lymph nodes in the root of SBM were found more often in mesenteric TL and TLM (P < 0.01). "Sandwich sign" in the root of SBM was observed more often in NHL (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Anatomic lymph node distribution,sandwich sign and specific enhancement patterns of lymphadenopathy in SBM on CT images can be used in differentiating between tuberculosis and untreated NHL involving SBM.

To understand the corrosion performance of additive-manufactured Ni-based in various corrosion media during the actual engineering application environment,the corrosion properties of NiFeCrMo alloys were investigated in 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution,1 mol/L H2SO_(4) solution,and 1 mol/L KOH solution,using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance *** electrochemical measurement results revealed that the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys have higher corrosion resistance in all three solutions,compared with the as-cast *** results of the scanning electron microscope confirmed that the degree of additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys after potentiostatic polarization in all three solutions is less serious.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed that the enhancement of the corrosion resistance for the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys is attributed to the modification of the composition of the passive *** manufactured processing promotes the enrichment of the element of Cr or Mo in the passive film and it suppresses the formation of the oxidation of the element of Fe,leading to higher stability of the passive *** reason for the higher corrosion resistance of the additive-manufactured NiFeCrMo alloys was related to the enrichment of the element of Cr,as well as the lower content of the elements of Ni and Fe near the grain boundaries,which are beneficial to forming a more compact passive *** combined results are essential for the applications of high-strength Ni-based as structural materials in a corrosion environment.

There have been several results that illustrate the best performance that a network can get through cooperation of relay nodes. For practical purposes, not all nodes in the network should be involved at the same time in every transmission. Therefore, optimal partner selection protocols in cooperative wireless networks are believed to be the first important thing that should be paid attention to. This problem in our article is considered in the context of regenerative nodes and non-altruistic cooperation （no pure relay exists; all nodes have their own data to transmit）. For each transmission, the protocol must provide the user （source node） a ＇best partner＇（relay node） to cooperate with （for network simplicity and less transmission signals here, assume that each user has only one cooperative node）. A criterion is essentially needed when defining what a ＇best partner＇ is; in this article, two factors, i.e, the successful transmission probability and the transmission power, are considered. Three optimal partner selection strategies with different goals are proposed and analyzed respectively. The simulation results show that these are all supposed to be good tradeoffs between power consumption and transmission performance.

Nano/micro-structured germanium oxide (GeO2) was prepared using GeCl4 and KOH by a simple solution method in alkalic alcoholic solution. Different morphologies of GeO2 were obtained by changing the reaction conditions. The effects of the reaction time, the concentration of the reactants, the reaction temperature and the dispersant upon the morphology of the deposited GeO2 have been investigated. The products were detected by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscope (AFM), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Novel cross-like structures were obtained by using n-butylamine as the dispersant. The formation of the cross-like structures has been discussed and a solution-liquid-solid (SLS) mechanism was proposed.

Photo-biocatalysis,the combination of photosensitization and biocatalysis,is an emerging solution for sunlight-based renewable *** is thus important to develop light antennas with both good light har-vesting and efficient electron ***,the intriguing electrical conductivity of dsDNA and its host effect(for nucleic acid dyes to harvest light)were explored simultaneously to develop a dsDNA-based light antenna for *** SYBR Green I(SG)as the example of the nucleic acid dye,the proposed SG-dsDNA system was found to be capable for visible-light-driven reduced nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)regeneration,and the turnover frequency of which(1.35 min^(-1))exceeded most of the existing photocatalytic *** SG can only be hosted by dsDNA,meanwhile dsDNA can be formed through hybridization between single strand DNA and its complementary strand,the pro-posed system adds an extra control of the photocatalytic activity(DNA base pairing-based switch).When integrating the SG-dsDNA system with NADH-dependent horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase(HLADH),successful synthesis of 2-phenylpropanol(a crucial intermediates of profens manufacturing)was achieved.

Negatively thermo-responsive 2D membranes,which mimic the stomatal opening/closing of plants,have drawn substantial interest for tunable molecular separation ***,these membranes are still restricted significantly on account of low water permeability and poor dynamic tunability of 2D nanochannels under temperature ***,we present a biomimetic negatively thermo-responsive MXene membrane by covalently grafting poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAm)onto MXene *** uniformly grafted PNIPAm polymer chains can enlarge the interlayer spacings for increasing water permeability while also allowing more tunability of 2D nanochannels for enhancing the capability of gradually separating multiple molecules of different *** expected,the constructed membrane exhibits ultrahigh water permeance of 95.6 L m^(-2) h^(-1) bar^(-1) at 25℃,which is eight-fold higher than the state-of-the-art negatively thermoresponsive 2D ***,the highly temperature-tunable 2D nanochannels enable the constructed membrane to perform excellent graded molecular sieving for dye-and antibiotic-based ternary *** strategy provides new perspectives in engineering smart 2D membrane and expands the scope of temperature-responsive membranes,showing promising applications in micro/nanofluidics and molecular separation.

The potential utilization and development of the Ba isotope tool depend on an accurateδ^(137/134)Ba determination of the *** the chemical purification,whether the adsorption process on the surface of the ionexchange resin could lead to the Ba isotopic fractionation and the degree of fractionation directly influence the accurateδ^(137/134)Ba *** the present work,first-principles calculations based on the density functional theory were used to quantify the Ba isotopic equilibrium fractionation factor between the aqueous solution and the resin in the acid leaching *** constructing and optimizing the geometric configurations of Ba-containing species,Ba(H_(2)O)_(n)^(2+),Ba(H_(2)O)_(n)Cl_(2),Ba(H_(2)O)_(n)(NO_(3))2,and the adsorbed Ba^(2+)on the surface of the resin,extracting the harmonic vibrational frequencies,we finally at 298 K obtained the fractionations,Δ^(137/134)Ba_(soln-ads)=0.07‰,Δ^(137/134)Ba_(Ba(H_(2)O)_(n)Cl_(2)-ads)=0.05‰,andΔ^(137/134)-Ba^(Ba(H_(2)O)_(n)(NO_(3))2-ads)=0.02‰.Overall,there were almost no Ba isotope fractionations during *** the Ba isotope fractionation can be magnified by the Rayleigh fractionation process in purification,the difference inδ137/134Ba between the initial and final stages did not exceed0.060‰(or 0.045‰)when leaching the standard sample with HCl or HNO_(3),which is equal to or less than the accuracy of Ba isotopic *** a common yield of89.75%,Ba isotopic fractionation induced by incomplete recovery was 0.015‰for HCl(or 0.011‰for HNO_(3)).Finally,if the influence of an incomplete recovery on theδ137/134Ba determination needs to be ignored,the recovery is suggested to be not less than 67%for HCl(or 46%for HNO_(3)).
