A Wnt10a-Notch signaling axis controls Hertwig’s epithelial root sheath cell behaviors during root furcation patterning

Human with bi-allelic WNT10A mutations and epithelial Wnt10a knockout mice present enlarged pulp chamber and apical displacement of the root furcation of multi-rooted teeth,known as taurodontism;thus,indicating the critical role of Wnt10a in tooth root ***,the endogenous mechanism by which epithelial Wnt10a regulates Hertwig’s epithelial root sheath(HERS)cellular behaviors and contributes to root furcation patterning remains *** this study,we found that HERS in the presumptive root furcating region failed to elongate at an appropriate horizontal level in K14-Cre;Wnt10a^(fl/fl)mice from post-natal day 0.5(PN0.5)to *** assays and immunofluorescent staining of cyclin D1 revealed significantly decreased proliferation activity of inner enamel epithelial(IEE)cells of HERS in K14-Cre;Wnt10a^(fl/fl)mice at PN2.5 and *** staining of E-Cadherin and acetyl-α-Tubulin demonstrated that the IEE cells of HERS tended to divide perpendicularly to the horizontal plane,which impaired the horizontal extension of HERS in the presumptive root furcating region of K14-Cre;Wnt10a^(fl/fl)***-seq and immunofluorescence showed that the expressions of Jag1 and Notch2 were downregulated in IEE cells of HERS in K14-Cre;Wnt10a^(fl/fl)***,after activation of Notch signaling in K14-Cre;Wnt10a^(fl/fl)molars by Notch2 adenovirus and kidney capsule grafts,the root furcation defect was partially *** together,our study demonstrates that an epithelial Wnt10a-Notch signaling axis is crucial for modulating HERS cell proper proliferation and horizontal-oriented division during tooth root furcation morphogenesis.

What can we learn from quality assurance badges in open-source software?

In the development of open-source software(OSS), many developers use badges to give an overview of the software and share some key features/metrics conveniently. Among various badges, quality assurance(QA) badges make up a large proportion and are the most prevalent because QA is of vital importance in software development, and ineffective QA may lead to anomalies or defects. In this paper, we focus on QA badges in open-source projects, which present quality assurance information directly and instantly,and aim to produce some interesting findings and provide practical implications. We collect and analyze 100000 projects written in popular programming languages from GitHub and conduct a comprehensive empirical study both inside and outside QA badges. Inside QA badges, we build a category classification for all QA badges based on the properties they focus on, which shows the types of QA badges developers use. Then,we analyze the frequency of the properties that QA badges focus on, and property combinations, too, which present their use status. We find that QA badges focus on various properties while developers give different preferences to different properties. The use status also differs between different programming languages. For example, projects written in C focus on Security to a great extent. Our findings also provide implications for developers and badge providers. Outside QA badges, we conduct a correlation analysis between QA badges and some software metrics that have potential relationships with code quality, contribution quality, and popularity. We find that QA badges have statistically significant correlations with various software metrics.

In recent years, the demand direction for electronic equipment has expanded into embedded and miniaturized devices. The heat radiation problem has become one of the most significant factors for hindering the development of electronic devices. Since heat radiation material is one of the important components in electronic devices, the demand for enhancing thermal conductivity is also increasingly urgent. Research on thermal conductive polymer composites has become a major direction for developing functional composites. This work reviewed the recent progress in the fabrication of thermal conductive polymer composites. Five different structures are presented, including the using of single fillers,hybrid fillers, double threshold percolation structure, segregated structure and other complex multiphase structures. Specifically, the preparation of high-performance thermal conductive polymer composites was introduced through the combination of various thermal conductive ***, the development direction of high thermal conductive polymer composites was briefly explored.

Multimorbidity and mortality among older patients with coronary heart disease in Shenzhen,China

BACKGROUND The current understanding of the magnitude and consequences of multimorbidity in Chinese older adults with coronary heart disease(CHD)is *** aimed to assess the association and population-attributable fractions(PAFs)between multimorbidity and mortality among hospitalized older patients who were diagnosed with CHD in Shenzhen,*** We conducted a retrospective cohort study of older Chinese patients(aged≥65 years)who were diagnosed with *** proportional hazards models were used to estimate the associations between multimorbidity and all-cause and cardiovascular disease(CVD)*** also calculated the *** The study comprised 76,455 older hospitalized patients who were diagnosed with CHD between January 1,2016,and August 31,*** them,70,217(91.9%)had multimorbidity,defined as the presence of at least one of the predefined 14 chronic *** with cancer,hemorrhagic stroke and chronic liver disease had the worst overall death risk,with adjusted HRs(95%CIs)of 4.05(3.77,4.38),2.22(1.94,2.53),and 1.85(1.63,2.11),*** CVD mortality,the highest risk was observed for hemorrhagic stroke,ischemic stroke,and chronic kidney disease;the corresponding adjusted HRs(95%CIs)were 3.24(2.77,3.79),1.91(1.79,2.04),and 1.81(1.64,1.99),***-cause mortality was mostly attributable to cancer,heart failure and ischemic stroke,with PAFs of 11.8,10.2,and 9.1,*** for CVD mortality,the leading PAFs were heart failure,ischemic stroke and diabetes;the corresponding PAFs were 18.0,15.7,and 6.1,*** Multimorbidity was common and had a significant impact on mortality among older patients with CHD in Shenzhen,***,heart failure,ischemic stroke and diabetes are the primary contributors to ***,prioritizing improved treatment and management of these comorbidities is essential for the survival prognosis of CHD patients from a holistic public health perspective.

Development characteristics and controlling factors of fractures in lacustrine shale and their geological significance for evaluating shale oil sweet spots in the third member of the Shahejie Formation in the Qikou Sag, Bohai Bay Basin

Natural fractures are critical for shale oil and gas enrichment and development. Due to the extremely high heterogeneity of shale, the factors controlling the formation of internal fractures, especially horizontal fractures, remain controversial. In this study, we integrate thin section analysis and microcomputed tomography(CT) data from several lacustrine shale samples from the third member(Es3) of the Shahejie Formation, Qikou Sag, Bohai Bay Basin, to assess the fractures in detail. The goal is to reveal the development characteristics, controlling factors, and geological significance for evaluating sweet spots in a shale oil play. The fractures in the Es3contain high-angle structural and horizontal bed-parallel fractures that are mostly shear and extensional. Various factors influence fracture development,including lithofacies, mineral composition, organic matter content, and the number of laminae. Structural fractures occur predominantly in siltstone, whereas bed-parallel fractures are abundant in laminated shale and layered mudstone. A higher quartz content results in higher shale brittleness, causing fractures, whereas the transformation between clay minerals contributes to the development of bedparallel fractures. Excess pore pressure due to hydrocarbon generation and expulsion during thermal advance can cause the formation of bed-parallel fractures. The density of the bed-parallel and structural fractures increases with the lamina density, and the bed-parallel fractures are more sensitive to the number of laminae. The fractures are critical storage spaces and flow conduits and are indicative of sweet spots. The laminated shale in the Es3with a high organic matter content contains natural fractures and is an organic-rich, liquid-rich, self-sourced shale play. Conversely, the siltstone, massive mudstone, and argillaceous carbonate lithofacies contain lower amounts of organic matter and do not have bed-parallel fractures. Precise separation and efficient recovery of Pd(Ⅱ) from high-level liquid waste by XAD-based adsorbents

Efficient separation of palladium (Pd（II）) from high-level liquid waste （HLLW） not only helps the safe disposal of nuclear waste,but also is a vital importan supplement to Pd（II） ***,16 kinds of nove Amberlite XAD resins-based adsorbents were prepared by vacuum impregnation method for the separation of Pd（II）from simulated HLLW,and the MMBT/XAD7HP prepared using 4-methyl-2-mercaptobenzothiazole （MMBT） as ligand and Amberlite XAD7HP resin （XAD7HP） as the carrier was selected as the optimal research *** analysis experiments proved the successful preparation of MMBT/XAD7HP,which exhibited ultrahigh adsorption selectivity for Pd（II）(distribution coefficient （Kd）≥12584.5 ml·g-1,separation factor (SFPd/M)≥2818.4) and superior adsorption capacity(Q≥130.1 mg·g-1).The adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms for Pd（II） matched with pseudo-secondorder （PSO） kinetics model and Langmuir model,indicating that the adsorption mode for Pd（II） by MMBT/XAD7 HP was monolayer chemical *** dynamic column experiments showed that MMBT/XAD7 HP achieved efficiently separation of Pd（II） from simulated HLLW,and the recovery rate was nearly 100% The adsorption mechanism was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and density functional theory（DFT）,and the ultrahigh selectivity of MMBT/XAD7 HP is attributed to the preferred affinity of the soft-N,S donor atoms in MMBT for Pd（II）.MMBT has the shortest frontline molecular orbital energy band gap （HOMO–LUMO） among the four ligands,which makes it easier to become an electron donor to attract Pd2+to participate in ***3-participates in the adsorption to keep charge *** summary,MMBT/XAD7 HP has broad application prospects for the treatment of Pd（II） in HLLW

A substructure-aware graph neural network incorporating relation features for drug-drug interaction prediction

Identifying drug–drug interactions(DDIs)is an important aspect of drug design research,and predicting DDIs serves as a crucial guarantee for avoiding potential adverse *** substructure-based prediction methods still have some limitations:(i)The process of substructure extraction does not fully exploit the graph structure information of drugs,as it only evaluates the importance of different radius substructures from a single perspective.(ii)The process of constructing drug representations has overlooked the significant impact of relation embedding on optimizing drug *** this work,we propose a substructure-aware graph neural network incorporating relation features(RFSA-DDI)for DDI prediction,which introduces a directed message passing neural network with substructure attention mechanism based on graph self-adaptive pooling(GSP-DMPNN)and a substructure-aware interaction module incorporating relation features(RSAM).GSP-DMPNN utilizes graph self-adaptive pooling to comprehensively consider node features and local drug information for adaptive extraction of *** interacts drug features with relation representations to enhance their respective features individually,highlighting substructures that significantly impact ***-DDI is evaluated on two real-world *** to existing methods,RFSA-DDI demonstrates certain advantages in both transductive and inductive settings,effectively handling the task of predicting DDIs for unseen drugs and exhibiting good generalization *** experimental results show that RFSA-DDI can effectively capture valuable structural information of drugs more accurately for DDI prediction,and provide more reliable assistance for potential DDIs detection in drug development and treatment stages.

A 2D stability analysis of the rock surrounding underground liquified natural gas storage cavern based on COMSOL Multiphysics

Underground liquified natural gas(LNG)storage is essential in guaranteeing national energy strategic reserves,and its construction is being *** stability of surrounding rock of underground LNG storage caverns under stress-low temperature coupling effect is the key factor determining the feasibility of LNG ***,a mathematical model used for controlling the stress-low temperature coupling and the processes of rock damage evolution is given,followed by a 2-D numerical execution process of the mathematical model mentioned above described based on Comsol Multiphysics and Matlab ***,a series of 2-D simulations are performed to study the influence of LNG storage cavern layout,burial depth,temperature and internal pressure on the stability of surrounding rocks of these underground storage *** results indicate that all the factors mentioned above affect the evolution of deformation and plastic zone of surrounding *** research results contribute to the engineering design of underground LNG storage caverns.
