Efficacy and safety of conversion of percutaneous cholecystostomy to endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder stenting in high-risk surgical patients

Background:Endoscopic transpapillary gallbladder stenting(ETGBS)has been used as an alternative to percutaneous cholecystostomy in patients with acute cholecystitis who are considered unfit for ***,there are few data on the efficacy and safety of ETGBS replacement of percutaneous cholecystostomy in high-risk surgical *** study aimed to evaluate the feasibility,efficacy,and safety of ETGBS to replace percutaneous cholecystostomy in high-risk surgical ***:This single center retrospective study reviewed the data of patients who attempted ETGBS to replace percutaneous cholecystostomy between January 2017 and September *** technical success,clinical success,adverse events,and stent patency were ***:ETGBS was performed in 43 patients(24 male,mean age 80.7±7.4 years)to replace percutaneous cholecystostomy due to high surgical *** technical success rate and clinical success rate were 97.7%(42/43)and 90.5%(38/42),***-related adverse events and stent-related late adverse events occurred in 7.0%(3/43)and 11.6%(5/43),*** the patients who successfully underwent ETGBS(n=42),only one had recurrent acute cholecystitis during *** median stent patency was 415 days(interquartile range 240–528 days).Conclusions:ETGBS,as a secondary intervention for the purpose of internalizing gallbladder drainage in patients following placement of a percutaneous cholecystostomy,is safe,effective,and technically ***,conversion of percutaneous cholecystostomy to ETGBS may be considered as a viable option in high-risk surgical patients.

Ethanol Extract of Lycopodium serratum Thunb. Attenuates Lipopolysaccharide-Induced C6 Glioma Cells Migration via Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Expression

Objectives： To elucidate how ethanol extract of L. serratum（ELS） could exert anti-migratory effects on glioma with the suppression of nuclear factor kappa B（NF-κB） downstream pathway. Methods： Cell viability of ELS on C6 glioma was detected by 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide（MTT） assay. Nitric oxide（NO） assay and 2＇,7＇-dichlorofluorescin diacetate（DCFH-DA） assay were applied to measure NO production and reactive oxygen species（ROS） generation on lipopolysaccharide（LPS）-induced C6 glioma cells. NF-κB, mitogen-activated protein kinase（MAPK）, inducible nictric oxide synthase（i NOS） and cyclooxygenase-2（COX-2） protein were determined by Western blot. Wound healing assay was used to investigate the inhibitory effect of ELS on fetal bovine serum（FBS）-induced migration and matrix metalloproteinase（MMP）-9 and-2 activity was examined by zymography. Results： ELS suppressed LPS-induced phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase（ERK）, c-Jun N-terminal kinase（JNK）, and p38 through inhibiting the expression of chemokine CCL2（or monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, MCP-1）. In addition, ELS inhibited the expression of i NOS, COX-2, and the production of NO by LPS in C6 glioma cells. ELS also significantly decreased serum-induced migration of C6 glioma cells in scratch wound healing in a dose-dependent manner（P〈0.01）. The activity of MMP-9 and-2 were also significantly attenuated by ELS with LPS treatment（P〈0.01）. Conclusion： Our results suggest that downregulation of MMP-9 gene expression might be involved in the anti-migration effect of ELS against LPS-induced C6 glioma cells.

Supercooling is recognized as a novel preservation method because it maintains the freshness of food without tissue damage caused by ice *** is a complicated matrix composed of several components with varying freezing points depending on the food *** this study,effects of food compositions on stability of supercooling preservation were investigated using a model food to define the interaction between supercooling maintenance and the factor of food ***,chicken meat(leg and wing)was used to confirm food freshness during extended *** higher the fat and salt content of the model food,better was the maintenance of the supercooled state;however,higher the moisture content,worse was the maintenance of supercooled *** presence of the fat layer affected the supercooling maintenance *** experiments with real food,the chicken leg and wing samples were 80%and 90%supercooled,*** samples conserved at superooling presented significantly lower drip loss,total volatile basic nitrogen,and total aerobic count than those of the *** addition,water holding capacity of supercooled samples were not significant differences compared to frozen samples.

Fruits extracts of Hovenia dulcis *** lipopolysaccharide—stimulated inflammatory responses through nuclear factor—kappaB pathway in Raw 264.7 cells

Objective:To investigate the anti-inflammatory effects and the action mechanism of the fruits of Horenia dulcis(***) in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced mouse macrophage Raw ***:The extract of *** fruits(EHDF) were extracted with 70%*** macrophages were treated with different concentrations of EHDF in the presence and absence of LPS(1 μg/mL).To demonstrate the inflammatory mediators including nitric oxide,inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase(COX)-2 expression levels were analyzed by usingin vitro assay ***-derived pro-inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-1 β.tumor necrosis factor- α and prostaglandin F_2 were determined using ELISA *** viability,heme oxygenase-1 expression,nuclear factor-kappaB and nuclear factor F.2-related factors 2 translocation were also ***:EHDF potently inhibited the LPS-stimulated nitric oxide,inducible nitric oxide ***-2,interleukin-1 β and tumor necrosis factor- α expression in a dose-dependent *** suppressed the phosphorylation of inhibited kappaB-alpha and p65 nuclear *** of macrophage cells with EHDF alone induced the heme oxygenase-1 and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor E2-reIated factor ***:These results suggest that the ethanol extract of *** fruit exerts its anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting inhibited kappaBalpha phorylation and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-kappaB.

Dynamic enhanced computed tomography imaging findings of an inflammatory fibroid polyp with massive fibrosis in the stomach

Inflammatory fibroid polyp(IFP) is a rare benign lesion of the gastrointestinal tract. We report a case of computed tomography(CT) imaging finding of a gastric IFP with massive fibrosis. CT scans showed thickening of submucosal layer with overlying mucosal hyperenhancement in the gastric antrum. The submucosal layer showed increased enhancement on delayed phase imaging. An antrectomy with gastroduodenostomy was performed because gastric cancer was suspected, particularly signet ring cell carcinoma. The histopathological diagnosis was an IFP with massive fibrosis. The authors suggest that when the submucosal layer of the gastric wall is markedly thickened with delayed enhancement and preservation of the mucosal layer, an IFP with massive fibrosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis.

Effect of angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor blocker and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor on the intraocular growth factors and their receptors in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

AIM： To investigate the effect of angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker （ARB） and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor （ACEI） on intraocular growth factors and their receptors in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. METHODS： Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups： control, diabetes mellitus （DM）, candesartan- treated DM, and enalapril-treated DM （each group, n---10）. After the induction of DM by streptozotocin, candesartan [ARB, 5 mg/（kg · d）] and enalapril [ACEI, 10 mg/（kg · d）] were administered to rats orally for 4Wko Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and angiotensin II （Ang II） concentrations in the vitreous were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and VEGF receptor 2 and angiotensin II type 1 receptor （ATIR） levels were assessed at week 4 by Western blotting. RESULTS： Vitreous Ang II levels were significantly higher in the DM group and candesartan-treated DM group than in the control （P=0.04 and 0.005, respectively）. Vitreous ATIR increased significantly in DM compared to the other three groups （P〈0.007）. Candesartan-treated DM rats showed higher vitreal ATIR concentration than the enalapril-treated DM group and control （P〈0.001 and P=0.005, respectively）. No difference in vitreous Ang II and ATIR concentration was found between the enalapril- treated DM group and control. VEGF and its receptor were below the minimum detection limit in all 4 groups. CONCLUSION： Increased Ang II and ATIR in the hyperglycemic state indicate activated the intraocular renin-angiotensin system, which is inhibited more effectively by systemic ACEI than systemic ARB.

Coordinated morphogenic adaptation of growing plants is critical for their survival and propagation under fluctuating *** morphogenic responses to light and warm temperatures,termed photomorphogenesis and thermomorphogenesis,respectively,have been extensively studied in recent *** photomorphogenesis,plants actively reshape their growth and developmental patterns to cope with changes in light ***,photomorphogenesis is closely associated with diverse growth hormonal ***,accumulating evidence indicates that light-directed morphogenesis is profoundly affected by two recently identified phytochemicals,karrikins(KARs)and strigolactones(SLs).KARs and SLs are structurally related butenolides acting as signaling molecules during a variety of developmental steps,including seed *** receptors and signaling mediators have been identified,and associated working mechanisms have been explored using gene-deficient mutants in various plant *** particular interest is that the KAR and SL signaling pathways play important roles in environmental responses,among which their linkages with photomorphogenesis are most comprehensively studied during seedling *** this review,we focus on how the phytochemical and light signals converge on the optimization of morphogenic *** also discuss molecular mechanisms underlying the signaling crosstalks with an aim of developing potential ways to improve crop productivity under climate changes.

Effect of supercooling storage applied with stepwise algorithm for fishes(salmon and olive flounder)and its freshness during extended storage

Supercooling storage reduces the temperature of a product by lowering its freezing point without phase transition and may extend its shelf ***,it is difficult to maintain the supercooled state of food as it is thermodynamically metastable.A slow cooling rate and minimal fluctuation are essential for achieving stable supercooling ***,a stepwise algorithm was adopted for supercooling storage in this *** and olive flounder were stored at 3℃(refrigeration),􀀀18℃(freezing),and􀀀2℃(supercooling)for 12 *** were maintained in a supercooled state and unfrozen during the storage *** stored after the supercooling treatment were superior with respect to drip loss and water holding capacity(WHC)compared to frozen samples,regardless of the type of *** and total volatile basic nitrogen values of olive flounder was higher than those in salmon owing to the higher water and protein content in olive flounder than in ***,the supercooled samples inhibited the increase in trimethylamine and volatile basic nitrogen *** growth was ***,a stepwise algorithm for stable supercooled storage was achieved,which effectively preserved fish quality better than freezing and refrigeration storage.
