Campoplex capitator is an ichneumonid parasitoid with a narrow host range,comprising grapevine moth *** being considered one of.the possible candidates f.r biocontrol of.Lobesia botrana,knowledge about its biology is limited and massrearing f.r commercial purposes is still *** research provides a quantitative analysis of.the *** courtship and mating *** mating sequence was analyzed by high-speed video *** behavioral parameters,with special ref.rence to male wing f.nning and antennal tapping,were quantif.ed and linked with mating ***,we analyzed the occurrence of.population-level behavioral asymmetries during C capitator sexual interactions and their impact on male *** showed that male wing f.nning was crucial to successf.lly approach the *** achieving higher mating success perf.rmed wing-f.nning at higher f.equencies over unsuccessf.l *** wing f.nning,most of.males palpated the f.males body with their antennae,bef.re attempting *** overall mating success was>70%,with a rather long copula duration(254.76±14.21 s).Male wing-f.nning was lateralized on the lef. at population level,while antennal tapping displays were *** male displays do not dif.er in terms of.f.equency and duration of.their main *** research adds basic knowledge to the *** behavioral *** rearing protocols f.r *** are being developed male wing f.nning f.equency may represent a usef.l benchmark f.r monitoring mate quality over time,tackling mating success reductions due to prolonged mass-rearing.

The use of.magnesium alloys,as a biodegradable medical device,is an interesting challenge f.r the biomaterials *** rapid degradation and the release of.hydrogen,when exposed to biological f.uids,are the main drawbacks f.r clinical *** this work,a coating made of.polydopamine(PDOPA),is used as an intermediate layer to decrease the degradation rate of.AZ31 magnesium alloy/polymeric coating system,when exposed to Hank’s *** results highlighted:(i)the f.rmation of.a thin PDOPA layer,(ii)an increased adhesion in the organic coating/metallic substrate system,(iii)a decrease of.two orders of.magnitude of.the corrosion rate when the PDOPA f.lm is used together with an external organic coating,(iv)the ef.icacy in the use of.PDODA due to the synergistic ef.ect of.both,physical and chemical,interactions between the PDOPA layer and the organic coating.

Parametrical analysis of.the railways dynamic response at high speed moving loads

The paper introduces some f.ndings about a sensitivity analysis conducted on every geometrical and mechanical parameters which characterize the use of.a railway superstructure at the high velocity. This analysis was carried out by implementing a f.recast model that is derived f.om the simplif.ed Gazetas and Dobry one. This model turns out to be particularly appropriate in the explication of.problems connected to high velocity, since it evaluates both inertial and viscous ef.ects activated by the moving load speed. The model implementation requires the transf.r f.nction determination that represents the action occurred by the bed surf.ces on the railway and it theref.re contains inf.rmation concerning the geometrical and the mechanical characteristics of.the embankment, of.the ballast and of.the sub-ballast. The transf.r f.nction H has been evaluated with the f.nite elements method and particularly, by resorting the ANSYS code with a harmonic structural analysis in the f.equencies f.eld. The authors, f.om the critic examination of.the system＇s dynamics response in its entirety, glean a series of.observations both of.a general and a specif.c character, f.nally attaining a propose of.a design modif.cation of.the standard railway superstructure at the high velocity of.train operation adopted today especially in Italy.

Is bigger better？ Male body size af.ects wing-borne courtship signals and mating success in the olive f.uit f.y, Bactrocera oleae （Diptera： Tephritidae）

Variations in male body size are known to af.ect inter- and intrasexual selection outcomes in a wide range of.animals. In mating systems involving sexual signaling bef.re mating, body size of.en acts as a key f.ctor af.ecting signal strength and mate choice. We evaluated the ef.ect of.male size on courtship displays and mating success of.the olive f.uit f.y, Bactrocera oleae （Diptera： Tephritidae）. Wing vibrations perf.rmed during successf.l and unsuccessf.l courtships by large and small males were recorded by high-speed videos and analyzed through f.ame-by-f.ame analysis. Mating success of.large and small males was investigated. The ef.ect of.male-male competition on mating success was evaluated. Male body size af.ected both male courtship signals and mating outcomes. Successf.l males showed wing-borne signals with high f.equencies and short interpulse intervals. Wing vibrations displayed by successf.l large males during copulation attempt had higher f.equencies over smaller males and unsuccessf.l large males. In no-competition conditions, large males achieved higher mating success with respect to smaller ones. Allowing large and small males to compete f.r a f.male, large males achieve more mating success over smaller ones. Mate choice by f.males may be based on selection of.the larger males, able to produce high-f.equency wing vibrations. Such traits may be indicative of.＂good genes,＂ which under sexual selection could means good social-interaction genes, or a good competitive manipulator of.conspecif.cs.

This paper is devoted to the homogenization of.a semilinear parabolic equation with rapidly oscillating coef.icients in a domain periodically perf.rated by e-periodic holes of.size ε. A Neumann condition is prescribed on the boundary of.the *** presence of.the holes does not allow to prove a compactness of.the solutions in L2. To overcome this dif.iculty, the authors introduce a suitable auxiliary linear problem to which a corrector result is applied. Then, the asymptotic behaviour of.the semilinear problem as e → 0 is described, and the limit equation is given.

The identif.cation of.jets originating f.om quarks and gluons,of.en ref.rred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses perf.rmed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches f.r new particles decaying to quarks of.en rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of.the ef.iciencies of.quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of.140 f.^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perf.rmances in rejecting jets f.om gluon over jets f.om quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of.inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon f.action in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples def.ned by the jet *** in tagging ef.iciency between data and simulation are provided f.r jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and f.r multiple tagger working points.

Dear Editor,Gastric cancer represents a remarkable disease burden worldwide,ranking among the f.rst f.ve tumor types in incidence and mortality[1].Germline DNA variation has been extensively investigated in terms of.predisposition to sporadic gastric cancer,which represents more than 90%of.all cases[2].Currently available evidence shows that the f.action of.disease burden that can be attributable to known risk polymorphisms is small(f.circadian genes(also called clock genes)have been associated with the predisposition of.dif.erent tumor types[3].The circadian clock is a timetracking rhythmic biological system with a periodicity of.about 24 hours that enables organisms to anticipate environmental changes and allow them to modif. their behavior and physiological f.nctions in the most ef.icient *** rhythms are controlled by proteins encoded by circadian genes,which have been discovered in all studied ***,the disruption of.these rhythms has been linked with risk of.dif.erent diseases including *** regards to the latter,a growing wealth of.evidence supports the potential tumor suppressor role of.the biological clock[3,4].

The Tenchini's collection:a f.rensic anthropometric legacy of.19th century Parma, Italy

A group of.19th century inmates dead in the prison of.Parma are the protagonist of.an incredible scientif.c collection. Lorenzo Tenchini started the creation of.this collection and dedicated his work and his studies to its completeness. Anatomist and academic, Lorenzo Tenchini (1852–1906) dedicated his scientif.c studies to macroscopic anatomy, particularly about central nervous system and its correlation with psychic f.nction. In 1881 he became ordinary prof.ssor in Normal Human Anatomy at the University of.Parma dedicating himself.to the study of.the anatomical organization of.the brain and psychic and social disturbs. During the study of.the skulls and brains of.psychotic patients and the def.rmations of.skulls belonging to patients admitted in the Hospital of.Brescia, he started a collaboration with Alessandro Cugini (1829–1913), f.under of.the Institute of.Legal Medicine at the University of.Parma. Tenchini realized an anatomical collection, preserved today in the Museum of.Biomedicine of.the University of.Parma. This collection represents the master-piece of.his research carried out during his academic activity and still a unicum in the west-ern world, as there are no similar collection assembling such a multidisciplinary inf.rmation. The peculiarity of.this collection is due not only to the scientif.c interest of.the anatomic samples and their f.ll clinical documentation, but also to the methods employed in order to realize it. At the end of.the 19th century, as a student of.Cesare Lombroso (1835–1909), Tenchini based his work on the study of.the f.ce, the skull and brain of.each dead inmate of.Parma's prison or Colorno's mental hospital. These individuals as protagonists of.Tenchini's collection, leave a legacy identif.able as scientif.c heritage. Their skulls and brains, the reproduction of.their f.ces through ceroplastic and other anatomical samples treated with other techniques, are accompanied by an autoptic and psychiatric f.ll documentation, allowing t
