We have shown recently that concurrent harmaline,a monoamine oxidase-A inhibitor(MAOI),potentiates serotonin(5-HT) receptor agonist 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine(5-Me O-DMT)-induced *** objective of this study was to develop an integrated pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic(PK/PD) model to characterize and predict the thermoregulatory effects of such serotonergic drugs in *** thermoregulation was described by a mechanism-based indirect-response model with adaptive feedback ***-induced hypothermia and 5-Me O-DMT–elicited hyperthermia were attributable to the loss of heat through the activation of 5-HT1 Areceptor and thermogenesis via the stimulation of 5-HT2 Areceptor,*** serotonergic 5-Me O-DMT–induced hyperthermia was readily distinguished from handling/injection stress-provoked hyperthermic *** PK/PD model was able to simultaneously describe all experimental data including the impact of drug-metabolizing enzyme status on5-Me O-DMT and harmaline PK properties,and drug- and stress-induced simple hypo/hyperthermic and complex biphasic ***,the modeling results revealed a 4-fold decrease of apparent SC_(50) value(1.88–0.496 mmol/L) for 5-Me O-DMT when harmaline was co-administered,providing a quantitative assessment for the impact of concurrent MAOI harmaline on 5-Me ODMT–induced *** addition,the hyperpyrexia caused by toxic dose combinations of harmaline and 5-Me O-DMT were linked to the increased systemic exposure to harmaline rather than5-Me O-DMT,although the body temperature profiles were mispredicted by the *** results indicate that current PK/PD model may be used as a new conceptual framework to define the impact of serotonergic agents and stress factors on thermoregulation.

From the Solar Wind to the Magnetospheric Substorm

This paper gives a brief outline of the progression from the first substorm model developed in Ref.[4] and [8] based on Kennel's ideas[3], to the present views about the mechanism by which solar wind kinetic energy is converted to electromagnetic energy at the Bow Shock and by which this energy is transferred to the magnetosphere in the form of current; about the transformation of the energy of this current to gas kinetic energy of convecting plasma tubes, and, finally, the back transformation of gas kinetic energy to electromagnetic energy in secondary magnetospheric MHD generators. The questions of the formation of the magnetospheric convection system, the nature of substorm break-up, and of the matching of currents in the magnetosphere-ionosphere system are discussed.

Transfer learning from synthetic data for open-circuit voltage curve reconstruction and state of health estimation of lithium-ion batteries from partial charging segments

Data-driven models for battery state estimation require extensive experimental training data,which may not be available or suitable for specific tasks like open-circuit voltage(OCV)reconstruction and subsequent state of health(SOH)*** study addresses this issue by developing a transfer-learning-based OCV reconstruction model using a temporal convolutional long short-term memory(TCN-LSTM)network trained on synthetic data from an automotive nickel cobalt aluminium oxide(NCA)cell generated through a mechanistic model *** data consists of voltage curves at constant temperature,C-rates between C/30 to 1C,and a SOH-range from 70%to 100%.The model is refined via Bayesian optimization and then applied to four use cases with reduced experimental nickel manganese cobalt oxide(NMC)cell training data for higher use *** TL models’performances are compared with models trained solely on experimental data,focusing on different C-rates and voltage *** results demonstrate that the OCV reconstruction mean absolute error(MAe)within the average battery electric vehicle(BeV)home charging window(30%to 85%state of charge(SOC))is less than 22 mV for the first three use cases across all *** SOH estimated from the reconstructed OCV exhibits an mean absolute percentage error(MAPe)below 2.2%for these *** study further investigates the impact of the source domain on TL by incorporating two additional synthetic datasets,a lithium iron phosphate(LFP)cell and an entirely artificial,non-existing,cell,showing that solely the shifting and scaling of gradient changes in the charging curve suffice to transfer knowledge,even between different cell chemistries.A key limitation with respect to extrapolation capability is identified and evidenced in our fourth use case,where the absence of such comprehensive data hindered the TL process.

Pyrolysis-induced shrinking of threedimensional structures fabricated by twophoton polymerization:experiment and theoretical model

The introduction of two-photon polymerization(TPP)into the area of Carbon Micro electromechanical Systems(CMeMS)has enabled the fabrication of three-dimensional glassy carbon nanostructures with geometries previously unattainable through conventional UV *** of TPP structures conveys a characteristic reduction of feature size—one that should be properly estimated in order to produce carbon microdevices with *** this work,we studied the volumetric shrinkage of TPP-derived microwires upon pyrolysis at 900℃.Through this process,photoresist microwires thermally decompose and shrink by as much as 75%,resulting in glassy carbon nanowires with linewidths between 300 and 550 *** after the thermal decomposition induced by the pyrolysis step,the linewidth of the carbon nanowires was found to be dependent on the TPP exposure *** have also found that the thermal stress induced during the pyrolysis step not only results in axial elongation of the nanowires,but also in buckling in the case of slender carbon nanowires(for aspect ratios greater than 30).Furthermore,we show that the calculated residual mass fraction that remains after pyrolysis depends on the characteristic dimensions of the photoresist microwires,a trend that is consistent with several works found in the *** phenomenon is explained through a semi-empirical model that estimates the feature size of the carbon structures,serving as a simple guideline for shrinkage evaluation in other designs.

积雪被动微波遥感研究进展与前景展望

被动微波遥感可用于进行全天候的积雪监测。概述了国内外近年来积雪被动微波遥感研究进展,比较了常用的被动微波传感器SMMR(Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer)、SSM/I(Special SensorMicrowave/I mager)、AMSR-e(Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-earth Observing System)和MWRI(Microwave Radiation Imager)的参数特征,指出目前积雪被动微波遥感研究中存在的问题:1)干雪和湿雪的判别阈值受多种因素的影响,仍难以确定;2)各气象台站的实测雪深值缺乏代表性;3)分辨率不高,无法监测浅雪区信息等问题;4)容易造成积雪范围估计过大、雪深过深等问题。另外,雪的密度、粒径、降水、寒漠、植被、冻土等因素都在一定程度上影响了反演结果的精度。并对积雪被动微波遥感的应用前景提出了展望:1)在积雪遥感业务监测中,对可见光和被动微波数据进行融合,可充分发挥二者的优势;2)遥感和地理信息系统的结合,可以提高积雪遥感监测的精度和应用范围;3)随着积雪模型算法的进一步完善以及更高空间分辨率的AMSR-e和我国FY3卫星的被动微波数据MWRI的应用,被动微波遥感必将成为积雪监测的重要手段。4)被动微波遥感与可见光MODIS的积雪监测范围较为一致,当由于云的影响而无法得到满意的可见光影像时,则被动微波遥感就可发挥替代作用。5)被动微波遥感在积雪业务监测中还存在较多的问题,持续不断的地面监测和算法改进及验证是完善这项技术的重要保证。
