The Chinese Tianshan belt is a major part of the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt,extending westward to Kyrgyzstan and *** Paleozoic tectonic evolution,crucial for understanding the amalgamation of Central Asia,comprises two stages of *** first collisional stage built the Eo-Tianshan Mountains,before a Visean unconformity,in which all structures are verging *** implied a southward subduction of the Central Tianshan Ocean beneath the Tarim active margin,that induced the Ordovician-Early Devonian Central Tianshan arc,to the south of which the South Tianshan back-arc basin *** the Late Devonian,the closure of this ocean led to a collision between Central Tianshan arc and the Kazakhstan-Yili-North Tianshan Block,and subsequently closure of the South Tianhan back-arc basin,producing two suture zones,namely the Central Tianshan and South Tianshan suture zones where ophiolitic mélanges and HP metamorphic rocks were emplaced *** second stage included the Late Devonian-Carboniferous southward subduction of North Tianshan Ocean beneath the Eo-Tianshan active margin,underlined by the Yili-North Tianshan arc,leading to the collision between the Kazakhstan-Yili-NTS plate and an inferred Junggar Block at Late Carboniferous-Early Permian *** North Tianshan Suture Zone underlines likely the last oceanic closure of Central Asia Orogenic Belt;all the oceanic domains were consumed before the Middle *** amalgamated units were affected by a Permian major wrenching,dextral in the *** correlation with the Kazakh and Kyrgyz Tianshan is *** Kyrgyz South Tianshan is equivalent to the whole part of Chinese Tianshan(CTS and STS) located to the south of Narat Fault and Main Tianshan Shear Zone;the so-called Middle Tianshan thins out toward the *** South Tianshan Suture of Kyrgyzstan correlates with the Central Tianshan Suture of Chinese *** evolution of this southern domain remains similar

Obesity and High Blood Pressure among Professional Long-Distance Drivers in Yaoundé, Cameroon: Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Drivers play a very important role in the transportation of people, goods and services in Cameroon. The data on obesity and hypertension amongst these professionals is insufficient. The study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of obesity and high blood pressure (HBP) among professional bus drivers in Yaoundé. Methods: This was an analytic cross-sectional study among long-distance bus drivers stationed in Yaoundé between march and April 2018. The data collected focused on driving history, eating habits, driver’s lifestyle, and anthropometric measurements. The analysis was completed using SPSS 21 software;STATA 13;SPAD 5.5 and Excel. Results: Of the 309 drivers, 27.18% and 17.80% were obese and hypertensive, respectively. The risk of developing HBP and obesity was higher among drivers with ≥20 years of driving experience. The risk of obesity was 3.99 (95% CI = 1.65 - 9.64);14.57 (95% CI = 3.65 - 58.16) and 15.23 (95% CI = 3.30 - 70.40) times higher in drivers with 10 - 14, 15 - 19 and 20 years of experience respectively. The risk of HBP was 3.64 (95% CI = 1.22 - 10.85);5.08 (95% CI = 1.18 - 21.92) and 9.42 (95% CI = 1.87 - 47.44) times higher in drivers with 10 - 14;15 - 19 years and 20 years of service, respectively. The more involved the drivers were in sporting activities, the less likely they are to be obese (RR = 0.46;95% CI = 0.24 - 0.88);the risk of HBP was 1.96 (95% CI = 1.05 - 3.67) times higher among drivers who were unable to make trips of at least 10 minutes. And the risk of HBP was less when drivers did not snack while traveling (RR = 0.43;95% CI = 0.21 - 0.90) than when they did. When a driver ate at least 3 meals a day, the risk of being obese was 5.75 (95% CI = 3.15 - 10.48) times higher. The risk of HBP was 4.04 (95% CI = 2.20 - 7.41) times higher in obese drivers than in those with a normal body mass index. We describe a patient with a Homo sapiens mutL homolog 1 (MLH1)-associated Lynch syndrome with previous diagnoses of two distinct primary cancers:a sigmoid colon cancer at the age of 39 years, and a right colon cancer at the age of 50 years. The mutation identified in his blood and buccal cells, c.1771delG, ***591Ilefs*25, appears to be a de novo event, as it was not transmitted by either of his parents. This type of de novo event is rare in MLH1 as only three cases have been reported in the literature so far. Further-more, the discordant results observed between repli-cation error phenotyping and immunohistochemistry highlight the importance of the systematic use of both pre-screening tests in the molecular diagnosis of Lynch syndrome.

Evaluation of an Ultrasound-Guided Focused Ultrasound CMUT Probe for Targeted Therapy Applications

Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer (CMUT) technology, which has been widely studied in the field of medical imaging, possesses strong design flexibility due to its manufacturing process. Many applications could benefit from this unique feature, especially those that require different operating ultrasonic frequencies. This article reports on the characterization of the therapeutic low-frequency field provided by an ultrasound-guided focused ultrasound CMUT probe that is connected to a custom ultrasonic scanner for hyperthermia applications. The study begins by mapping the focused ultrasonic beam in the vicinity of the focal spot and a parametric analysis providing the maximum peak-to-peak (PTP) pressure delivered by the probe under different acoustic conditions. The measured maximum PTP pressure at the targeted operating frequency of 1 MHz is 3 MPa, with a maximum of 3.6 MPa at 1.25 MHz. Based on an in vitro setup found in the literature, the temperature elevation at the focal point was measured, showing results in agreement with the targeted applications (max. ΔT = 7.5°C). The article concludes with a reliability study considering the delivered pressure and the self-heating of the CMUT probe: the results show the good stability of the pressure amplitude over 1.8 × 109 cycles at a duty cycle of 40%, with a moderate internal heating of 3°C.
