Likelihood of hospitalization for a chronic respiratory condition following pediatric infection with enterovirus and rhinovirus strains

Background:Rhino-enteroviruses,particularly enterovirus strain D68(EV-D68),have been associated with severe respiratory distress in *** goal of this study was to compare the long-term outcomes of children with EV-D68 infection to that of children with other enterovirus/***:Nasopharyngeal swabs from 174 children presenting with respiratory distress were tested by PCR for respiratory *** primary outcome was diagnosis of a chronic respiratory condition within the followup *** to intensive care,and length of stay were *** ratios were determined using multinomial logistic ***:During 5 years of follow-up,the crude odds of diagnosis with a chronic respiratory condition were significantly more likely in EV-D68 cases(OR:1.95,95%CI:1.02,3.82),but failed to remain significant after adjusting for a past history of *** admission for a primary concern of asthma,length of stay both in hospital and intensive care were significantly longer in EV-D68 cases(OR:2.10[95%CI:1.56,2.82,p<0.001])and(OR:5.18[95%CI:1.90,6.28,p<0.001]),*** adjustment for a history of asthma,EV-D68 cases had significantly longer length of stay in hospital,admitted for 1.94 days for each day that controls were admitted(95%CI:1.40,2.68).In admissions to intensive care,EV-D68 cases spent 2.74 days for each day of admission in controls(95%CI:1.62,4.97,p<0.001).Conclusions:Ours is first study to assess prognostic respiratory outcomes of patients infected with EV-D68 in *** study finds that EV-D68 cases were significantly more likely be hospitalized for longer than other enterovirus/rhinovirus controls in subsequent admissions for respiratory *** for intensive care was significantly longer in EV-D68 *** next steps will be validation in a larger sample size.

Towards an enhanced understanding of the particle size effect on conversion/alloying lithium-ion anodes

Conversion/alloying materials(CAMs)represent a potential alternative to graphite as a Li-ion anode active material,especially for high-power *** far,however,essentially all studies on CAMs have been dealing with nano-sized particles,leaving the question of how the performance(and the de-/lithiation mechanism in general)is affected by the particle ***,we comparatively investigate four different samples of Zn_(0.9)Co_(0.1)O with a particle size ranging from about 30 nm to a few *** results show that electrodes made of larger particles are more susceptible to fading due to particle displacement and particle *** results also show that the conversion-type reaction in particular is affected by an increasing particle size,becoming less reversible due to the formation of relatively large transition metal(TM)and alloying metal nanograins upon lithiation,thus hindering an efficient electron transport within the initial particle,while the alloying contribution remains essentially *** generality of these findings is confirmed by also investigating Sn_(0.9)Fe_(0.1)O_(2) as a second CAM with a substantially greater contribution of the alloying reaction and employing Fe instead of Co as a TM dopant.

Data breaches have massive consequences for companies, affecting them financially and undermining their reputation, which poses significant challenges to online security and the long-term viability of businesses. This study analyzes trends in data breaches in the United States, examining the frequency, causes, and magnitude of breaches across various industries. We document that data breaches are increasing, with hacking emerging as the leading cause. Our descriptive analyses explore factors influencing breaches, including security vulnerabilities, human error, and malicious attacks. The findings provide policymakers and businesses with actionable insights to bolster data security through proactive audits, patching, encryption, and response planning. By better understanding breach patterns and risk factors, organizations can take targeted steps to enhance protections and mitigate the potential damage of future incidents.

目的评估深度学习重建（deep learning reconstruction, DL Recon）技术在提高直肠MRI快速自旋回波序列（turbo spin-echo, TSE）图像质量的价值。材料与方法前瞻性纳入2023年9月至2024年1月中国医学科学院肿瘤医院病理诊断为直肠癌... 详细信息

目的评估深度学习重建（deep learning reconstruction, DL Recon）技术在提高直肠MRI快速自旋回波序列（turbo spin-echo, TSE）图像质量的价值。材料与方法前瞻性纳入2023年9月至2024年1月中国医学科学院肿瘤医院病理诊断为直肠癌的初诊患者60例，对每位患者进行临床传统TSE序列及应用DL Recon技术的TSE序列（deep learning reconstruction-TSE,DL-TSE）扫描，并记录扫描时间，由两名影像科医师分别对两组图像（传统TSE、DL-TSE）的图像质量进行主观评价，采用“五分法”分别对病灶轮廓清晰度，图像伪影，病灶结构清晰度以及诊断信心进行评分；由两名影像科技师进行客观评价，分别计算DL-TSE和传统TSE图像的病灶信噪比（signal-to-noiseratio,SNR）以及病灶区域与周边组织的对比噪声比（contrast-to-noise ratio, CNR），采用配对样本t检验或配对样本非参数检验（Wilcoxon符号轶检验）进行统计学分析。结果图像主观评价显示DL-TSE序列的病灶轮廓清晰度、图像伪影、病灶结构清晰度以及诊断信心的主观评分得分均优于传统TSE序列，且差异具有统计学意义（P<0.001）。图像客观评价显示DL-TSE序列和传统TSE序列的SNR分别为24.26(15.95, 42.79)、11.84(7.63, 18.88)，差异有统计学意义（Z=-14.276,P<0.001）;DL-TSE序列和传统TSE序列CNR分别为10.75(7.19, 15.63),5.47(3.72, 8.86)，且差异有统计学意义（Z=-14.271,P<0.001）。DL-TSE序列的SNR及CNR相较于传统TSE序列均有明显提升。结论 DL-TSE序列通过采用原始K空间数据DL Recon算法，在保证图像质量和病变可检测性的情况下，可提升直肠癌患者序列图像SNR及CNR，并且可缩短36.6%扫描时间。
