The continuously growing importance of batteries for powering(hybrid)electric vehicles and storing renewable energy has prompted a renewed focus on lithium-metal batteries(LMBs)in recent years,as its high theoretical specific capacity of about 3860 mA h g^(-1) and very low redox potential(-3.04 V *** standard hydrogen electrode)promise substantially higher energy densities compared to current lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)[1].however,lithium metal electrodes face severe challenges associated with the risk of dendritic lithium deposition and the high reactivity with traditional organic liquid electrolytes,resulting in a continuous loss of electrochemically active lithium and a relatively low Coulombic efficiency[2].To address these challenges,solid inorganic and polymer electrolytes have emerged as a potentially saferalternative.

The origin of sedimentary dolomite has become a long-standing problem in the Earth *** carbonate minerals like ankerite have the same crystal structure as dolomite,hence their genesis may provide clues to help solving the dolomite *** purpose of this study was to probe whether microbial activity can be involved in the formation of ***-carbonation experiments associated with microbial iron reduction were performed in batch systems with various concentrations of Ca^(2+)(0–20 mmol/L),with a marine iron-reducing bacterium Shewanella piezotolerans WP3 as the reaction mediator,and with lactate and ferrihydrite as the respective electron donor and *** biomineralization data showed that Ca-amendments expedited microbially-mediated ferrihydrite reduction by enhancing the adhesion between WP3 cells and ferrihydrite *** bioreduction,siderite occurred as the principal secondary mineral in the Ca-free ***,Ca-Fe carbonates were formed when Ca^(2+)ions were *** CaCO_(3) content of microbially-induced Ca-Fe carbonates was positively correlated with the initial Ca2+*** Ca-Fe carbonate phase produced in the 20 mmol/L Ca-amended biosystems had a chemical formula of Ca_(0.8)Fe_(1.2)(CO_(3))_(2),which is close to the theoretical composition of *** ankeritelike phase was nanometric in size and spherical,Ca-Fe disordered,and structurally *** simulated diagenesis experiments further demonstrated that the resulting ankerite-like phase could be converted into ordered ankerite under hydrothermal *** introduced the term“proto-ankerite”to define the Ca-Fe phases that possess near-ankerite stoichiometry but disordered cation *** the basis of the present study,we proposed herein that microbial activity is an important contributor to the genesis of sedimentary ankerite by providing the metastable Ca-Fe carbonate precursors.

白云石的成因机制至今仍是地球科学领域的一个谜题(“白云石问题”).铁白云石等碳酸盐矿物具有类白云石晶体结构,因此研究这些矿物的形成机制可为解答“白云石问题”提供新线索.本研究利用一株海洋异化铁还原菌(Shewanella piezotolerans WP3),在不同钙离子浓度(0~20mmol/L)条件下,通过氧化乳酸盐诱导水铁矿还原转化为次生碳酸盐矿物,以此评估微生物在铁白云石形成过程中的作用.实验结果表明,加入Ca^(2+)可以增强*** WP3细胞与水铁矿颗粒之间的黏附作用,从而提高反应体系中Fe(Ⅲ)还原速率.在不同Ca^(2+)浓度条件下,菌株WP3诱导生成的次生碳酸盐矿物类别有所差异:在0mmol/L Ca^(2+)体系中生成菱铁矿,而含钙体系中则为Ca-Fe碳酸盐固溶体,且这些固溶体的钙离子含量与反应体系中初始的Ca^(2+)浓度呈正相关关系.值得注意的是,在20mmol/L Ca^(2+)体系中生成的Ca-Fe碳酸盐固溶体化学组成为Ca0.8Fe1.2(CO3)2,与铁白云石类似.此外,这些微生物成因的“类铁白云石”具有纳米晶粒的形态,晶体结构中钙和铁元素呈无序分布,并且发育较多晶体缺陷.进一步成岩模拟实验证明,“类铁白云石”可以在水热条件下转化为有序铁白云石.基于成分类比性和转化规律,微生物成因的“类铁白云石”可能是沉积物(岩)中铁白云石的重要前驱体,可以被定义为“原铁白云石”.以上新发现对理解微生物在铁白云石乃至白云石形成中的贡献具有重要的启示意义.

Ultrasound-Guided Greater Occipital Nerve hydrodissection for Treatment of Cervicogenic headache: A Case Report

We describe an innovative technique of ultrasound-guided greater occipital nerve (GON) hydrodissection for treatment of cervicogenic headache and occipital neuralgia. A 35-year-old female presented to the pain clinic with severe chronic cervicogenic headache impacting her sleep, work and activities of daily living. Conservative management had failed to adequately resolve her pain. Ultrasound-guided suboccipital hydrodissection of the greater occipital nerve was performed with the patient in the prone position. After skin sterilization, the linear ultrasound transducer was oriented in a transverse orientation at the level of the C2-C3 vertebrae. The needle was advanced from medial to lateral “in-plane” under direct ultrasound visualization, until the needle was positioned at the C2 lamina. After confirming the needle tip position, 10 ml of hydrodissection fluid was injected with good visualization of distribution of the solution. The patient described immediate and significant improvement in her symptoms. She reported a sustained decrease in pain scores when followed up in the pain clinic at six and twelve weeks respectively. To the best of our knowledge this is the first application of ultrasound-guided hydrodissection of the GON for cervicogenic headache. It offers a novel, safe and effective technique to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of a common pain condition.

Neck pain is common and has multiple sources, but correct diagnosis and matched treatment provide the best outcomes. The first description of ultrasound-guided dorsal scapular nerve blockade using a single-shot local anesthetic technique for the diagnosis and treatment of neck pain is reported. A 38-year-old female patient presented with neck pain, and the history and clinical examination strongly suggested myofascial pain affecting the middle scalene muscle. The pain had been unresponsive to pharmacological therapy or physiotherapy. After identifying the dorsal scapular nerve (DSN) in the body of the middle scalene muscle, an ultrasound-guided nerve block was performed using a single injection of local anesthetic to alleviate the patient’s pain. It has been demonstrated that the dorsal scapular nerve can be identified in the neck and effectively blocked using ultrasound guidance. This technique has the potential to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of neck pain originating from the middle scalene muscle.

Male dominance hierarchies have been studied in many animals but rarely in bats(Chiroptera).The dominance rank of social animals may dictate access to resources and mates;therefore,it has important implications for an individual's fitness and is crucial for successful captive *** January and December 2018,at both Bristoi Zoo Gardens(Bristol,UK)and Jersey Zoo(Jersey,British Isles),we observed 19 male Livingstone's fruit bats Pteropus livingstonii using focal follows for 345 h overall,noting the outcome of all agonistic *** recorded instigators of interactions,along with winners and losers,and analyzed these data using the R-package"EloRating"to create Elo-rating temporal plots of dominance *** used generalized linear mixed models and multiple linear regression to analyze interaction data and test hypotheses regarding predictors of dominance rank,frequency of agonistic interaction,and choice of interaction *** was positively correlated with dominance rank up to around year 9,when an asymptote was *** ranked bats instigated the most agonistic interac-tions,and largely directed these interactions at bats with much lower rankings than *** were extremely stable throughout the data collection period at both *** conclude that Livingstone's fruit bats have a stable linear dominance hierarchy,with high-ranking,typ-ically older males instigating the most interactions with lowest ranking males to secure dominance *** study adds to the limited discourse on Pteropus social behaviors,indicating that some bat species may have social systems similar in complexity to some nonhuman primates.

Antioxidant peptides encrypted in flaxseed proteome:An in silico assessment

Flaxseed proteins and antioxidant peptides(AP)encrypted in their sequences were analysed in silico with a range of bioinformatics tools to study their physicochemical properties,allergenicity,and *** proteases(digestive,plant and microbial sources)were assessed for their ability to release known APs from 23 mature flaxseed storage proteins using the BIOPEP *** families of proteins identified were predominantly globulins,oleosins,and small amount of ***,253 APs were identified from these *** peptides were released by enzymatic hydrolysis from the globulins than those from oleosins and *** with other enzymes studied,the plant proteases(papain,ficin,and bromelain)were found to be superior to releasing APs from the flaxseed *** of toxicity by ToxinPred showed that none of the peptides released was *** of the APs showed structural features that are important for antioxidation,including relatively low molecular weight(dipeptides and tripeptides only);amphipathic properties(hydrophobicity range of-0.5 to+0.5);relatively low Boman index(≤2);broad range of pI(3.7-10.8),and an abundance of antioxidant amino acid residues(*** acid and histidine).This study demonstrate the suitability of flaxseed proteins as a source of APs.
