Environmental benefits for a geothermal power plant with CO_(2) reinjection:case study of the Kizildere 3 U1 geothermal power plant

Geothermal power plants(GPP)with high non condensable gases(NCG)content geothermal fluid have shown to be environmental impacting relating to their energy production,which could be critical if no corrective actions are *** GPP of Kizildere 3 U1,located in Türkiye(Denizli),in where the geothermal fluid contains high percentage of CO_(2),99%of the NCG fraction,which represents the 3%of the geothermal fluid mass,is taken as a relevant case study to implement a new innovation consisting of NCG reinjection to reduce the amount of NCGs released to the *** order to calculate the present environmental impacts which the plant is causing(baseline);and the potential reduction of environmental impacts which can be achieved with the innovation(reinjection),a life cycle assessment(LCA)calculation were *** data were collected for all the relevant stages of the energy conversion cycle and complemented where necessary with secondary data from other geothermal power plants *** main results of the baseline environmental assessment show that the construction phase is the most impacting phase due to the materials used in the power plant building construction,electrical generation equipment and distributed machinery and infrastructures;the effects in the operation phase are dominated by the geothermal fluid *** this sense,the application of CO_(2) reinjection at the Turkish site into the reservoir will prevent the emission of 1,700 tons⋅year􀀀1 in the pilot site and 10%of the total emissions released along the life span of the GPP.

The Epidemio-Clinic Profile of Clandestine Abortion at Saint Joseph Hospital (Kinshasa)

Objective: To identify the epidemiologic profile of the woman having practiced the clandestine abortion, to determine the frequency and the complications of the clandestine abortion and to evaluate the prognosis of the clandestine abortion in our area. Method: The present study is descriptive and retrospective covering the period from January 2017 to December 2017, the one year period. On 118 patients received in the service for clandestine abortion, 60 were retained for the study. The 58 other files were excluded because of not containing sufficient information for this study. The descriptive statistical analyses were applied for the data analysis. Results: The frequency of the allowed patients for complication of clandestine abortion caused at the Saint Joseph hospital of Kinshasa was 6.03%. The most concerned population with this practice was less than 15 years and more than 45 years;they were unmarried (41.6%) and nulliparous (41.6%) in most cases. Ancillary medical staff (especially nurses) was accused the most in this practice of the illegal abortion caused by the dilatation and curettage with 50%. The genital haemorrhage constitutes the principal complication and reason for consultation and accounted for 78.3%. The assumption of responsibility is primarily medical and surgical. The vital prognosis is satisfactory for the immediate one, because no death is noted. Conclusion: The clandestine abortion remains public health problem in our communities. The results found in our study call for certain reflections so that to reduce its frequency and to avoid its complications.

Selection of a Plotting Position for a Normal Q-Q Plot. R Script

In this contribution an R script for the construction of a Normal Quantile-Quantile Plot or a Normal Q-Q Plot is presented. The assessing of the fit of a probability model to some sample data is performed by this probability plot. The Q-Q Plot compares the empirical quintiles of sample data with the corresponding quintiles of a theoretical distribution, previously selected. Specifically, the theoretical probability model considered in this paper is the normal distribution. Thus, the Normal Q-Q Plot is a graphical technique to assess whether a set of sample observations come from a normal distribution. The plotting positions are key elements in the construction of a Normal Q-Q Plot. The possibility for choosing between seven possible plotting positions is included in the R script developed. An example allows us to check the differences between these plotting positions and emphasizes the importance of these elements.

The current pressure on the built historical heritage requires a global evaluation to develop strategies for its preservation.A combined vision of the state of conservation of architectural heritage is essential to highlight the vulnerabilities of the structure from which harmonized measures can be proposed for its *** study proposes a multi-criteria analysis methodology that considers a qualitative and quantitative approach to organize the global conservation state of heritage buildings hierarchically.A global index can be determined on the basis of the generation of an interoperable data matrix by defining a set of indicators to assess different components of a *** index describes the risk with respect to the stability,safety,and habitability of the *** methodology aims to achieve the state of the building in an integral way by obtaining a simple and objective index that enables efficient comparison among different *** application of this methodology to a historic area allows creating a hierarchical map of risk to stablish priorities for intervention and enable a sustainable and critical management and planning over the actions of maintenance,conservation,and *** this way,a holistic vision of the complex reality of built heritage and the urban landscape is obtained to identify critical areas of priority intervention.

Potential seed germination-enhancing plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria for restoration of Pinus chiapensis ecosystems

Rhizosphere soil samples of three Pinus chiapensis sites were analyzed for their physicochemical properties,soil bacteria isolated and screened in vitro for growthpromoting *** isolates that showed promise were identified to five genera Dyella,Luteimonas,Euterobacter,Paraburkholderia and Bacillus based on the sequences of16 S rRNA *** the strains were isolated from nondisturbed *** bacteria significantly decreased germination time and increased sprout *** acetic acid and gibberellin production and phosphate solubilisation were *** indicate that these biochemicals could be essential for *** distribution and suggest the possibility that PGPR inoculation on *** seeds prior to planting could improve germination and possibly seedling development.

A New Proposal to Adjust a Straight Line to a Normal Q-Q Plot

In this paper a new proposal of a straight line, the ＂modified Tukey＇s line＂, for fitting to a normal quantile-quantile Plot, or normal Q-Q plot, is presented. This probability plot allows us to determine whether a set of sample observations is distributed according to a normal distribution. For this, the sample quantiles are represented against the quantiles of a theoretical probability model, which in this case is the normal distribution. If the data set follows the above mentioned distribution, the plotted points will have a rectilinear configuration. To verify this, there are different alternatives for fitting a straight line to the plotted points. Among the straight lines which can be fitted to a Q-Q plot, in this paper, besides the proposed straight line, the following straight lines are considered： straight line that passes through the first and third quartiles, straight line that passes through the 10th and 90th percentiles, straight line fitted by the method of least squares, straight line with slope s and constant the average of the data set, Theil＇s line and Tukey＇s line. In addition, an example, in which there are represented the different straight lines considered and the proposed straight line on a normal Q-Q plot obtained for the same set of observations, is developed. In this example the existing differences among the straight lines are observed.

Rainfall Influence on the Abundance of Bacteria in Dubrovnik Marine Waters

Microbiological testing of the sea gives us great knowledge about its quality for swimming. Here we are following the fluctuations in the abundance of E. coli colonies, intestinal enterococci and total coliforms on three beaches in Dubrovnik during the rainfall in winter and spring. Three beaches Porporela, Banje and Excelsior are the most visited beaches during the summer season. Samples were taken before, during and after the rainfall on the surface, in the depth of 0.5 m and 1 m. Membrane filtration was used for sample treatment. Expected increase in the abundance of colonies is shown most on the Banje beach where the total coliforms increased 15.80 times while on the Excelsior beach E. coli colonies increased 12 times during the rainfall. On the Porporela beach there was a mild increase of intestinal enterococci colonies for 6.66 times. Regarding the data of the Institute of Public Health Dubrovnik-Neretva County the beaches were mostly marked as “excellent” especially since 2003 when the sewers were regulated in the Dubrovnik Old Town. The number of all colonies after the rainfall reduced for 99.80% in all three locations.

Multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in adult hospitalization units

Objectives:The study aimed to the multicenter application of a nursing workload measurement scale in the internal medicine and surgery adults hospitalization ***:The study design was a multicenter,observational,and descriptive study.A multicenter application of the MIDENF®nursing workload measurement scale was carried out,which consists of 21 items,and covers the four nursing functions(patient care items,teaching,manager,and researcher),in units of hospitalization of adults of internal medicine and surgery of four different *** item contains one or more of the nursing interventions of Nursing Interventions Classification(NIC)and has an assigned time,after comparing the real time it takes to perform each intervention with the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association(NANDA)standardized *** study was carried out during nine months of the year 2020,measuring two days each month in the three work shifts(morning,evening,and night)to all patients admitted on the days of measurement in the indicated ***:The descriptive and inferential analysis of 11,756 completed scales,5,695 in general surgery and 6,061 in internal medicine,showed a greater care load for the two units during the morning shift(227,034 min in general surgery,261,835 min in internal medicine),especially in the items of“self-care”,“medication”,“common invasive procedures”,“fluid therapy”,and“patient and family support”,while the managerial function was similar during the three work shifts in the two units studied,getting values between 57,348 and 62,*** the analysis by shift and unit,statistical significance was obtained both for the total workload and the four nursing functions(P<0.001).Conclusions:It is shown that the use of validated scales with the standardized language of nursing functions,adapted to the units,provides objective information to adjust the nursing staff to the real situation of care in any hospital and unit where it is applied,improving quality

Preclinical evaluation of azathioprine plus buthionine sulfoximine in the treatment of human hepatocarcinoma and colon carcinoma

AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and the safety of azathioprine (AZA) and buthionine sulfoximine (BSO) bylocalized application into HepG2 tumor in ***: Different hepatoma and colon carcinoma cell lines (HepG2, HuH7, Chang liver, LoVo, RKO, SW-48, SW-480) were grown in minimal essencial medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum and 1% antibiotic/antimycotic solution and maintained in a humidified 37 ℃ incubator with 5% CO2. These cells were pretreated with BSO for 24 h and then with AZA for different times. We examined the effects of this combination on some proteins and on cellular death. We also studied the eff icacy and the safety of AZA (6 mg/kg per day) and BSO (90 mg/kg per day) in HepG2 tumor growth in vivo using athymic mice. We measured safety by serological markers such as aminotransferases and creatine ***: The in vitro studies revealed a new mechanism of action for the AZA plus BSO combination in the cancer cells compared with other thiopurines (6-mercaptopurine, 6-methylmercaptopurine, 6-thioguanine and 6-methylthioguanine) in combination with BSO. The cytotoxic effect of AZA plus BSO in HepG2 cells resulted from necroptosis induction in a mitochondrial-dependent manner. From kinetic studies we suggest that glutathione (GSH) depletion stimulates c-Jun amino-terminal kinase and Bax translocation in HepG2 cells with subsequent deregulation of mitochondria (cytochrome c release, loss of membrane potential), and proteolysis activation leading to loss of membrane integrity, release of lactate dehydrogenase and DNA degradation. Some of this biochemical and cellular changes could be reversed by N-acetylcysteine (a GSH replenisher). In vivo studies showed that HepG2 tumor growth was inhibited when AZA was combined with ***: Our studies suggest that a combination of AZA plus BSO could be useful for localizedtreatment of hepatocellular carcinoma as in the currently used transarterial chemoembolization method.
