Comparative Evaluation of Traditional Susceptibility Testing for MRSA with the PCR Approach

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a multi-drug resistant pathogen, which is responsible for increasing cases of serious diseases, including life-threatening diseases and nosocomial and community-acquired infections. Laboratory identification of MRSA is crucial and essential both for initiation of appropriate antimicrobial therapies and for effective infection control strategies that are designed to limit the spread of MRSA. In spite of the availability of commercial kits for MRSA detection in the market, the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) recommends the use of phenotypic methods, such as the disk diffusion method with oxacillin or with cefoxitin, as well as a serial dilution method with oxacillin. Nevertheless, some studies have shown that results obtained with such phenotypic methods are controversial. The aim of the study described in this paper was to comparatively evaluate the traditional susceptibility testing for MRSA with PCR as the gold standard assay. Analysis of collection (n = 68) isolates of Staphylococcus aureus revealed that the serial dilution method with oxacillin possessed the highest sensitivity (at 100%). In contrast, the disk diffusion methods with oxacillin and cefoxitin showed lower sensitivity (95.83%, 95% CI (78.81%-99.30%)). Furthermore, the borderline value of zone inhibition diameters for cefoxitin might be considered as a risk, and they may give false-susceptible result.

Theoretical and experimental data of the ion flotation of Ce (3+), Sm (3+), Eu (3+), Er (3+), Yb (3+) and Y (3+) from nitrate-chloride solutions with sodium dodecyl sulphate as a collector were obtained. The ratio of distribution coefficients from pH aqueous phase with different concentration of chloride-ions has been analyzed. Separation coefficients for all pairs of rare earth metals have been estimated. Gibb’s energies formation of hydroxo complexes of the rare-earth ions are obtained.

Advanced Ramming Mix Based on Fused Zirconia Stabilized by Com-bined Additives of CaO and MgO for Lining of Carbon Black Production Reactor

Fused materials from ZrO2 stabilized by CaO or MgO, or the combined additive consisting of CaO and MgO are made. With using chemical, petrographic, X-ray phase and electron microscopic researches the main characteristics of these materials are determined. It is shown that, the materials of all compositions have low water absorption; they are characterized by equal struc-ture. The materials stabilized by the combined additive consisting of CaO and MgO are presented by generally the cubic phase and a small amount of tetragonal and monoclinic ZrO2 phases. Depending on CaO： MgO ratio in the materials the tetragonal ZrO2 phase settles down in a cubic matrix in the form of separate grains, and sites of net like structure in the form of a ＂woven＂ interlacing （2.9% of CaO and 2. 6% of MgO ）. An influence of the above mentioned fused stabilized ZrO2 materials and quantity of monoclinic zirconia, on the forming of zirconia mix on a phosphate bond and properties of＂ .fired samples is studied. The samples from mix based on ZrO2 stabilized by the combined additive consisting of 2.9% CaO and 2.6% MgO with 20% of monoclinic Zr02 are characterized by the highest properties： after .firing at 1 580 ~C open porosity of 14. 3% - 14. 8%, apparent density of 4. 67 -4. 69 g · cm^-5, cold crushing strength of 62 - 68 MPa, thermal shock resistance （ 1 300℃←→air） of 15 thermal cycles, linear growth of 0. 2%. The manufacturing technology of powders mix-ture for ramming mix based on the new fused material .from ZrO2 stabilized by the combined additive is developed and its production is mastered. From this mixture the large-size, shaped products on the phosphate bond are made at one carbon black production plant, which are installed in the combustion chamber of the carbon black production reactor.

新的数字和互动媒体具有两大特点:网络新技术的应用发展迅速;其发展给传统媒体的形式、内容带来了巨大的变化。在网络发展的初期,由于网络的特性与年轻人的个性更为吻合,青年群体占据了当时世界各国网络用户的主要部分。中国互联网信息中心自1997年依附的历次研究数据显示:岁数在24岁以下的青少年网民一直为中国网络用户的主体。事实表明,“1977后出生的年轻人,一直与互联网的兴起有着密切的联系,成为有史以来第一批在数字环境下成长的一代,他们的行为和生活方式,明显体现了网络化、数字化的生存逻辑。”可以说,学生是信息需求者的最大群体,因为他们身处在一个较为封闭的校园环境中,而他们的新闻信息获取渠道,可分为传统的纸质报纸、广播、电视、计算机网络、移动新媒体。计算机网络作为国内外大学生的新闻信息采集的载体,它的重要性也在不断上升。网络占据了他们生活、学习的方方面面,而他们表现出来的青年文化也带有明显的网络烙印。为了具体了解当代大学生的媒介使用偏好,特实施此次调查。而本文通过对中哈两国学生群体如何使用互联网的研究和比较分析,来了解现如今大学生的互联网使用偏好,并促使大学生正确地使用媒介,克服网络带来的消极影响。通过本次调查,我们希望得出有效的数据和结论,为中哈两国大学生如何更好的使用互联网提供决策参考。目前,对大学生网络使用偏好的研究不多,尤其是对学生的网络使用偏好的研究更是少之又少,因此,本文具有填补该领域空白的意义。

Nanofibrous carbonaceous materials （NFC） as a new class of materials having many applications, can catalyze the selective oxidation of H2S to sulfur. The correlation between NFC structure and its activity and selectivity in H2S oxidation was determined. It is demonstrated that selectivity can be improved if NFC with more ordered structure be synthesized and the portion of the original catalyst in carbon be reduced by increasing the carbon accumulated in the catalyst.

＜正＞ Recent trials have shown superior efficacy of Artrofoon （anti - TNF alpha antibodies, ultra - low doses for oral use - AF） over diclofenac （DF） in rheumatoid arthritis （RA）. About 57% of patients treated with AF （8 tablets/day） met ACR20 criteria after 6 - month therapy （20% of patients treated with 100 mg of DF daily）. The aim of this study was to test clinical efficacy and safety of AF in osteoarthritis （OA）. In a pilot open - label, comparative trial patients with OA were randomized to receive either AF （8 tablets/day, n = 30） or DF （100 mg/ day,n = 22）. At month 6, total WOMAC （primary endpoint） decreased by 36. 1 and 29.5 points in AF and DF arms *** of WOMAC subscales:pain, stiffness and physical function（secondary endpoints） in AF group improved by 8.4,2.8,and 25.1 points respectively. Although Artrofoon’ s onset of action was slower at month 1, by month 3 the both drugs equalled in efficacy, and at month 6 AF was more effective than the comparator. Unlike DF,AF did not cause drug - related adverse *** is a novel oral anti - TNF - alpha antibody therapeutic that holds great promise both in RA and OA.

The influence of different factors on the plasma chemical reactions is widely studied today. However, insufficient consideration is given to the research of paramagnetic phenomena which takes place in plasma systems. The results of modeling the process of redistribution carbon isotopes between different phases while oxidizing it in high-frequency low-temperature plasma in an external magnetic field are shown in the article. The equilibrium concentrations of components involved in the oxidation process in a plasma system are defined. A principle possibility of isotope-selective plasma chemical reactions in a magnetic field was experimentally determined. The increase of concentration of 13C in the gas phase up to 1.3 times relative to natural abundance was obtained. It was found that the content of the carbon heavy isotope in the gas phase depends on the magnetic field action area. The best results were achieved with the combination of magnetic field impact area and the priority area of the appearance of plasma chemical reactions products.
