Assessment of Recent Tectonic Activity along the Yamuna Basin, Garhwal Region, NW-Himalaya, India: Based on Morphotectonic Analysis

Decoupling between climate and tectonics, transform the elevation of earth surface regionally by denudation and displacement of land. To extract the tectonic footprints on morphology of landform, geormophometry is widely accepted tool due to visible responses in Drainage architecture to an intense tectonic environment. The present morphology of Yamuna basin in the Garhwal Himalaya, India is a result of continuing crustal deformation;erosion and deposition in the area. The drainage system and geomorphic expression of topography have been significantly influenced by active tectonics in this basin. In present study, for numerical modelling to detect the influence of tectonic signals on landform, we used morphotectonic parameters, to gradient index (SL), valley floor height to width ratio (Vf), asymmetry factor (Af), basin shape index (BS) and hypsometric integral (HI), extracted from SRTM DEM with resolution of 30 m. All these morphotectonic parameters are integrated to produce an index of relative active tectonics (IRAT). The Yamuna basin is classified into three groups based on IRAT, very high (2.25) based on the degree of tectonic activity. Result shows approx. 56% of Yamuna basin experience high tectonic activity. This along strike deformation pattern pronouncedly emulates subsurface geometry based tectonic model.

The bulk of the world’s millet crop is produced by India,Nigeria,Niger,Mali,Burkina Faso,Chad,and *** millet(Eleusine coracana(L.)Gaertn),little millet(Panicum sumatrense Roth ex Roem.&Schult.),foxtail millet(Setaria italica(L.)***)and proso millet(Panicum miliaceum L.)are most commonly found species among various millet *** India,finger millet occupy the largest area under cultivation among the small *** millet stands unique among the cereals such as barley,rye and oats with higher nutritional contents and has outstanding properties as a subsistence food *** is rich in calcium(0.34%),dietary fiber(18%),phytates(0.48%),protein(6%–13%)minerals(2.5%–3.5%),and phenolics(0.3%–3%).Moreover,it is also a rich source of thiamine,riboflavin,iron,methionine,isoleucine,leucine,phenylalanine and other essential amino *** abundance of these phytochemicals enhances the nutraceutical potential of finger millet,making it a powerhouse of health benefiting *** has distinguished health beneficial properties,such as anti-diabetic(type 2 diabetes mellitus),anti-diarrheal,antiulcer,anti-inflammatory,antitumerogenic(K562 chronic myeloid leukemia),atherosclerogenic effects,antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.

Drought-Tolerant Pseudomonas spp. Improve the Growth Performance of Finger Millet(Eleusine coracana(L.) Gaertn.)Under Non-Stressed and Drought-Stressed Conditions

Application of plant growth-promoting bacteria(PGPB)is an environmentally sustainable option to reduce the effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plant growth and *** 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid(ACC)deaminase-producing drought-tolerant bacteria were isolated from a rain-fed agriculture field in the Central Himalaya of Kumaun region,Uttarakhand,India and evaluated for their efficiency in improving finger millet(Eleusine coracana(L.)Gaertn.)plant growth under non-stressed and drought-stressed *** bacteria withstood a substrate metric potential of -1.0 MPa(30% polyethylene glycol 8000)and therefore were considered *** strains were identified as Pseudomonas *** fatty acid methyl ester analysis and 16S rRNA gene *** ACC deaminase activity of these strains was characterized at the biochemical level,and the presence of acd S gene,the structural gene for ACC deaminase,was confirmed by the polymerase chain *** sets of pot trials in glass house were set up,one for normal(non-stressed)and the other for drought-stressed *** 5 weeks,one set of plants was subjected to drought stress for 5 d,while the other set continued to be *** same growth parameters were recorded for both sets of plants after 40 d of plant *** results of pot trials showed that treatments inoculated with ACC deaminase-producing bacterial strains significantly improved the growth performance of finger millet plants and foliar nutrient content as compared to uninoculated treatments under both non-stressed and drought-stressed *** addition,a significant increase in antioxidant activity was observed,wherein bacterial stain inoculation improved plant fitness by protecting it from oxidative damage induced by drought.

In the next generation of computing environment e-health care services depend on cloud *** Cloud computing environment provides a real-time computing environment for e-health care *** these services generate a huge number of computational tasks,real-time computing and comes with a deadline,so conventional cloud optimizationmodels cannot fulfil the task in the least time and within the *** overcome this issue many resource optimization meta-heuristic models are been proposed but these models cannot find a global best solution to complete the task in the least time and manage utilization with the least simulation *** order to overcome existing issues,an artificial neural-inspired whale optimization is proposed to provide a reliable solution for healthcare *** this work,two models are proposed one for reliability estimation and the other is based on whale optimization technique and neural network-based binary *** predictive model enhances the quality of service using performance metrics,makespan,least average task completion time,resource usages cost and utilization of the *** as compared to existing algorithms the proposedANN-WHOalgorithms prove to improve the average start time by 29.3%,average finish time by 29.5%and utilization by 11%.

Gallbladder cancer with tumor thrombus in the superior vena cava

BACKGROUND:Gastrointestinal cancers,especially pancreatobiliary cancers,are frequently associated with or are complicated by thromboembolic phenomena due to hypercoagulability and/or altered venous drainage,especially of the abdomen and lower *** report describes an unusual and interesting case of gallbladder carcinoma developing a viable tumor thrombus in the superior vena cava(SVC)with resultant SVC obstruction,while on gefitinibbased anti-epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)***:A 60-year-old woman was incidentally diagnosed to have gallbladder cancer on *** had disease recurrence and received systemic chemotherapy followed by gefitinib-based anti-EGFR ***,while on gefitinib-based therapy,she presented with clinical signs and symptoms suggestive of SVC ***:A whole body PET scan revealed a metabolically active tumor thrombus in the SVC,besides other sites of metabolically active disease inclusive of the lung parenchyma, lymph nodes and *** was treated with antithrombotics and external beam radiotherapy directed to the SVC thrombus leading to symptomatic *** continues to survive on the day of writing this ***:This rare complication,though theoretically possible,is unreported because of the short overall survival of advanced gallbladder cancer *** highlights that with the availability of better chemotherapeutic/biotherapeutic agents for increasing in the lifespan of cancer patients,we may come across such cases more frequently in the future.

Spinal cord compression secondary to bone metastases from hepatocellular carcinoma

Bone metastases are rare in primary hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. Spinal cord compression （SCC） due to bone metastases occur commonly in patients with lung and breast carcinomas, and metastatic HCC is an unusual cause of SCC. Spinal cord compression is an oncologic emergency and treatment delays can lead to irreversible consequences. Thus, the awareness that SCC could be a potential complication of bone metastases due to HCC is of significance in initiation of early treatment that can improve the quality of life and survival of the patients, if diagnosed earlier. This paper describes four cases of primary HCC with varied manifestations of SCC due to bone metastases. The first patient presented primarily with the symptoms of bone pains corresponding to the bone metastases sites rather than symptoms of associated hepatic pathology and eventually developed SCC. The second patient, diagnosed as having HCC, developed extradural SCC leading to paraplegia during the course of illness, for which he underwent emergency laminectomy with posterior fixation. The third patient developed SCC soon after the primary diagnosis and had to undergo emergency laminectomy. Post laminectomy he had good neurological recovery. The Fourth patient presented primarily with radicular pains rather than frank paraplegia as the first manifestation of SCC.

A Unified Model of Neoarchean-Proterozoic Convergence and Rifting of Indian Cratons: Geophysical Constraints

Neoarchean and Proterozoic sutures and collision zones are identified in the Indian Peninsular Shield based on high seismic velocity;gravity highs and high conductivity in the upper crust due to thrusting while sub- ducted side are demarcated based on geophysical signatures of crustal thickening and back arc type basins. Some of them appear to form triple junctions. The Bouguer anomaly map of the south Indian shield when transformed to apparent density map through harmonic inversion, provided high density linear zones coin- ciding with the shear zone and the transition zone-the Moyar Bhavani Shear Zone (MBSZ) between the Eastern Dharwar Craton (EDC) and the Western Dharwar Craton (WDC) and the Dharwar cratons and the Southern Granulite Terrain (SGT), respectively. It is supported by high seismic velocity and high conductiv- ity suggesting them to be caused by high grade granulite rocks related to Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic su- tures and collision zones. These investigations also suggest thick crust (~40 - 50 km) under the WDC and the SGT forming crustal root of 50 - 52 km in the south western part and thin crust of 31 - 32 km under the EDC indicating direction of convergence and subduction as E-W and N-S between the EDC and the WDC and Dharwar cratons and the SGT, respectively. It gave rise to contemporary lower crustal granulite rocks in the northern part of the SGT and Cauvery shear zone (CSZ) as collision related central core complex of various deep seated intrusive rocks of Paleo-Mesoproterozoic period. The second case belonging to Meso-proterozoic period is related to the collision of the Bundelkhand craton and the Bhandara-Bastar craton (BBC) and the Dharwar craton (DC) in Central India along the Satpura Mobile Belt (SMB) and the BBC and the DC along the Godavari Proterozoic Belt due to N-S and NE-SW convergences, respectively. Novel synthesis and characterization of CuO nanomaterials:Biological applications

CuO nanoparticles were synthesized at a relatively low temperature（80 ℃） for 2 h using polyethylene glycol-glycerol mixture which acts as a capping agent.A detailed characterization of the synthesized nanomaterials were performed utilizing X-ray diffraction（XRD）,infra-red spectroscopy（IR）,thermogravimetric analysis（TGA-DTA）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM）,photoluminescence（PL） by studying its crystalline phase,vibrational mode,thermal analysis,morphology and photoluminescence *** effect of annealing on the as-prepared nanoparticles were studied and compared with their corresponding bulk *** synthesized nanoparticles have been screened for in vitro cytotoxicity（1C_（50）） studies against the human cervical adenocarcinoma cell line（HeLa） using WITT assay *** as-prepared nanoparticle inhibits the proliferation of this HeLa *** standard disc diffusion method has been used to study the antibacterial activity of the samples against the human pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli（MTCC 729）,Proteus mirabilis（MTCC 425） and Klebsiella pneumoniae ***（MTCC 432）.The results have been compared with the positive control antibiotic *** synthesized nanoparticles would provide a potential alternative to antibiotics for controlling some of the microorganisms causing urolithiasis.

Bone metastases from primary hepatocellular carcinoma simulating multiple myeloma

A 65-year-old man presented with bone pains and anemia. Skull X-ray revealed multiple osteolytic lesions. The pa- tient was evaluated for multiple myeloma but detailed workup revealed the diagnosis of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with osteolytic bone metastases. Thus, bone metastases due to HCC, although rare, should be considered in patients presenting with bone pains due to os- teolytic lesions.

Mg2＋-ion Conducting Polymer Electrolytes： Materials Characterization and All-Solid-State Battery Performance Studies

For All-Solid-State battery applications, Mg2＋-ion conducting polymer electrolytes and Mg-metal electrode are currently considered as alternate choices in place of Li＋-ion conducting polymer electrolytes/Li-metal electrode. Present paper reports fabrication of All-Solid-State battery based on the following Mg2＋-ion conducting nano composite polymer electrolyte （NCPE） films： [85PEO： 15Mg（C104）2] ＋ 5% TiO2 （〈 100 nm）, [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2] ＋ 3% SiO2（-8 nm）. [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2] ＋ 3% MgO （〈 100 nm）, [85PEO：15Mg（C1O4）2] ＋ 3% MgO （-44 μm）. NCPE films were prepared by hot-press technique. Solid Polymer Electrolyte （SPE） composition： [85PEO： 15Mg（CIO4）2], identified as high conducting film at room temperature, has been used as ISt--phase host and nano/micro particles of active （MgO）/passive （SiO2, TiO2） fillers as IInd-phase dispersoid. Filler particle dependent conductivity studies identified above mentioned NCPE films as optimum conducting composition （OCC） at room temperature. Ion transport behavior of SPE/NCPE film materials was investigated previously. Present paper reports materials characterization and cell performance studies on All-Solid-State batteries： Mg （Anode） Ⅱ SPE or NCPE films tt C＋MnO2＋Electrolyte （Cathode）. Open circuit voltage （OCV） obtained was in the range： 1.79-1.92 V. The batteries were discharged at room temperature under different load conditions and some important battery parameters have been evaluated from plateau region of cell-potential discharge profiles. All the batteries performed quite satisfactorily specially under low current drain states.
