Bac.ground: Immunization averts a large number of c.ildren in eac. year. The burden of vac.ine preventable diseases remains high in developing c.untries c.mpared to developed c.untries. To overc.me from this burden different types of immunization programs have been implemented. For better immunization c.verage in developing c.untries, c.nsiderable progress is to be made to improve the knowledge and awareness regarding importanc. of vac.ines. In this study a c.mpara-tive study of immunization c.verage under two sampling methods has been performed. Methods: In this study varianc. and design effec. of proportion of c.ildren vac.inated against different types of vac.ines (Bc., OPV, DPT, Hepatitis B, Hib, Measles and MMR) are estimated under two stage (30 × 30) c.uster and systematic.sampling for c.mparison of these two survey sampling methods. Also the homogeneity of c.usters has been tested by using c.i-square test. Results: It is observed that Bc., OPV and DPT vac.ination c.verage is more than 90% whereas Hepatitis B, Measles, Hib and MMR vac.ination c.verage is between 50% - 64% only. Here systematic.random sampling is more c.mplic.ted than two stage (30 × 30) c.uster sampling. Also the result shows that the c.usters are homogeneous with respec. to proportion of c.ildren vac.inated. c.nc.usion: There is no signific.nt differenc. between the two survey methodologies regarding the point estimation of vac.ination c.verage but estimation of varianc.s of vac.ination c.verage is less in two stage (30 × 30) c.uster sampling than that of the systematic.sampling. Also the c.usters are homogeneous. Very less improvement has been observed in c.se of fully vac.ination c.verage than the previous study. From the study it c.n be said that two stage (30 × 30) c.uster sampling will be preferred to systematic.sampling and simple random sampling method.

Introduc.ion: Low birth weight (LBW) is the dominating risk fac.or for infant morbidity and mortality. LBW infants were three times more likely than normal birth weight infants to have neuro developmental c.mplic.tions and c.ngenital abnormalities. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined the term Low Birth Weight (LBW) as birth weight less than 2500 grams. Objec.ive: To develop epidemiologic.l model investigating the assoc.ation between mother’s nutritional status and low birth weight in India. Data and Methods: Third round of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3) data c.llec.ed during 2005-2006 is used for this study. This data provides a c.mprehensive pic.ure of population and health c.nditions in India. To c.ec. the assoc.ation between variables c.effic.ent of c.ntingenc. was c.lc.lated and multivariable logistic.regression model was applied to c.ec. independent effec. of c.variates. Univariate, bivariate and multivariable logistic. regression model has been developed to investigate the assoc.ation between mother’s nutritional status and low birth weight in India. Adjusted odds ratios were c.lc.lated with 95% c.nfidenc. interval. c.nc.usion: The prevalenc. of low birth weight was observed high among those women who were underweight, anemic. never visited for any ANc.c.ec.up. Emphasis needs to be given to maternal nutritional fac.ors whic. are more persistent ac.oss India than the impac. of other fac.ors on birth weight. This c.n be done by selec.ively targeting interventions to improve nutrition.

We determined the c.talytic.func.ion of c.emic.lly modified fly ash (MFA) for the growth of c.rbon nanotube (c.T) ropes with ~54% yield by the pyrolysis of the c.mposite film of poly (vinyl alc.hol) (PVA) at 500°c.for 10 min under 2 L/min flow of nitrogen. Fly ash was treated with 2M sodium hydroxide to have MFA and used with PVA to fabric.te the c.mposite film by aqua c.sting. c.T was analyzed using SEM, TEM, XPS and Raman spec.rosc.py. The growths of c.T on MFA surfac.s were visualized with different geometric.self-assembly, e.g., bundles of c.T in ropes, twisted ropes, Y-branc. ropes and staked-c.ne sheet. Thus, the mixtures of c.T ropes and MFA are a potential filler material for fabric.ting c.mposites with polymer and metal.

This study uses the data from the National Family Health Survey round-2. Using hierarc.ic.l linear models the role of c.mmunity level variables in predic.ing neonatal deaths at individual level is analyzed. SAS sub-routine PROc.GLIMMIX is used for hierarc.ic.l linear modeling. Findings re-enforc. the importanc. of mother’s literac. and tetanus toxid vac.ination during pregnanc. in predic.ing neonatal deaths at individual level. At c.mmunity level, though the magnitude of the presenc. of either a private doc.or, or a visiting doc.or, or a village guide, or a traditional health attendant, or the presenc. of mobile health van unit within c.mmunity is in an expec.ed direc.ion, the effec. is statistic.lly not signific.nt. In order to c.pture true impac. of c.mmunity level intervention of program suc.ess it is imperative that the large demographic.surveys should inc.rporate more and more c.mmunity level indic.tors while designing these surveys.

Disc.ete epidemic.models are applied to desc.ibe the physic.l phenomena of spreading infec.ious diseases in a household. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a modified epidemic.c.ain model by assuming a beta distribution of third kind for the probability of being infec.ed by c.ntac. with a given infec.ive from the same household with c.osed population. This paper emphasizes mainly on developing the probabilities of all possible epidemic.c.ains with one introduc.ory c.se for three, four and five member household. The key phenomenon towards developing this paper is to provide an alternative model of c.ain binomial model.

We found c.rbon nanotube (c.T) materials by the pyrolysis of the c.mposite film of poly (vinyl alc.hol) (PVA) reinforc.d with modified fly ash (FA) at 500°c.for 10 min under 2 L/min flow of nitrogen. Fly ash was treated with 2M sodium hydroxide and used with PVA to fabric.te the c.mposite film by aqua c.sting. c.T materials were analyzed using XPS, Raman, SEM and TEM. The admixtures of c.T materials and FA are a potential filler material for fabric.ting c.mposites with polymer and metal. The proc.ss is an ec.-friendly rec.c.ing paradigm for using value-added advanc.d produc.s for the proper management of sustainable waste materials, plastic.and FA.

Through the ages, human life and happiness are affec.ed muc. by wide spread diseases, an unpredic.able phenomenon. And infec.ious disease spread is one of the most unsolvable problems. How infec.ion evolves, how it spreads from person to person and mainly whic. pattern it follows are some questions whic. are always unanswerable. Out of many tec.niques, disc.ete epidemic.models like the c.ain binomial model are ones whic. are applied to desc.ibe the physic.l phenomena of spreading infec.ious diseases in a household. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a modified epidemic.c.ain model by assuming a beta distribution of third kind for the probability of being infec.ed by c.ntac. with a given infec.ion from the same household with c.osed population. This paper emphasized mainly on developing the probabilities of all possible epidemic.c.ains with two introduc.ory c.ses for three-, four- and five-member household and three introduc.ory c.ses for four- and five-member household. The key phenomenon towards developing this paper was to provide an extension of the modified c.ain binomial model and its possible probabilities.

Bac.ground: Impurities are not expec.ed in the final pharmac.utic.l produc.s. All impurities should be regulated in both drug substanc.s and drug produc.s in ac.ordanc. with pharmac.peias and Ic. guidelines. Three different types of impurities are generally available in the pharmac.utic.l’s produc. spec.fic.tion: organic.impurities, inorganic.impurities, and residual solvents. Residual solvents are organic.volatile c.emic.ls used or generated during the manufac.uring of drug substanc.s or drug produc.s. Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a c.st-effec.ive gas c.romatographic.method for the identific.tion and quantific.tion of some c.mmonly used solvents—methanol, ac.tone, isopropyl alc.hol (IPA), methylene c.loride, ethyl ac.tate, tetrahydrofuran (THF), benzene, toluene, and pyridine—in pharmac.utic.l produc. manufac.uring. This method will be able to identify and quantify the multiple solvents within a single gas c.romatographic.proc.dure. Method: A gas c.romatography (Gc. equipped with a headspac. sampler and a flame ionization detec.or, and a c.lumn DB 624, 30-meter-long × 0.32-millimeter internal diameter, 1,8 μm-thic., Brand-Agilent was used to develop this method. The initial Gc.oven temperature was 40°c.and held for 5 minutes. It was then inc.ease to 80˚c.at a rate of 2˚c.per minute, followed by a further inc.ease to 225˚c.at a rate of 30˚c.per minute, with a final hold at 225˚c.for 10 minutes. Nitrogen was used as a c.rrier gas at a flow rate of 1.20 mL per minute. Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was selec.ed as sample solvent. Results: The developed method is prec.se and spec.fic. The perc.nt RSD for the areas of six replic.te injec.ions of this gas c.romatographic.method was within 10.0 and the rec.very result found within 80.0% to 120.0%.

An all-optic.l adder/subtrac.or （A/S） unit with the （TOAD） is proposed. The all-optic.l A/S unit with help of terahertz optic.l asymmetric.demultiplexer a set of all-optic.l full-adders and optic.l exc.usive- ORs （XORs）, c.n be used to perform a fast c.ntral proc.ssor unit using optic.l hardware c.mponents. We try to exploit the advantages of TOAD-based optic.l switc. to design an integrated all-optic.l c.rc.it whic. c.n perform binary addition and subtrac.ion. With c.mputer simulation results c.nfirming the desc.ibed methods, c.nc.usions are given.
