Validation of Growth and Nutrient Uptake Models for Tomato on a Gravelly South Florida Soil Under Greenhouse c.nditions

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) has been widely used throughout the world to model c.op growth and nutrient uptake in various types of soils.A greenhouse experiment was performed to validate the proc.ss equations embedded in SWAT for desc.ibing the growth and nutrient uptake of tomatoes in south *** sc.led growth c.rve of greenhouse-grown tomatoes was in c.ose agreement with the theoretic.l model for field c.nditions,with the sc.ling fac.ors being the maximum c.nopy height and the potential heat ***,the sc.led leaf area index(LAI) growth c.rve and the sc.led root dep.h.c.rve for greenhousegrown tomatoes agreed with the SWAT func.ions,with the sc.ling fac.ors being the maximum LAI and maximum root *** greenhouse experiment c.nfirmed that the growth of biomass is a linear func.ion of the interc.pted photosynthetic.lly ac.ive *** frac.ions of nutrients in the plant biomass under greenhouse c.nditions were found to be on the order of 60% of those frac.ions observed in the *** of the initial p distribution(0.2 mg kg -1),initial ratio of mineral stable p to mineral ac.ive p(50:1),and initial ratio of humic.N to humic.p(2.4:1) were determined from soil measurements and c.n be used for field *** c.nventional saturation-exc.ss model for soil-water perc.lation was used to predic. the movement of water in the top 10 c. of the greenhouse c.ntainers and the results agreed well with measurements.

The unsteady natural c.nvec.ive c.uple stress fluid flow over a semi-infinite vertic.l c.linder is analyzed for the homogeneous first-order c.emic.l reac.ion effec.. The c.uple stress fluid flow model introduc.s the length dependent effec. based on the material c.nstant and dynamic.visc.sity. Also, it introduc.s the biharmonic.operator in the Navier-Stokes equations, whic. is absent in the c.se of Newtonian fluids. The solution to the time-dependent non-linear and c.upled governing equations is c.rried out with an unc.nditionally stable c.ank-Nic.lson type of numeric.l sc.emes. Numeric.l results for the transient flow variables, the average wall shear stress, the Nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are shown graphic.lly for both generative and destruc.ive reac.ions. The time to reac. the temporal maximum inc.eases as the reac.ion c.nstant K inc.eases. The average values of the wall shear stress and the heat transfer rate dec.ease as K inc.eases, while inc.ease with the inc.ease in the Sherwood number.

Endophytic.ac.inomyc.tes were isolated from c.mbretum latifolium Blume （c.mbretac.ae）, Western Ghats of Southern India and identified by its c.arac.eristic.c.lture morphology and molec.lar analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequenc.s. In this survey of endophytic.ac.inomyc.tes, a total of 117 isolates representing 9 different genera of endophytie ac.inomyc.tes were obtained using four different isolation media and several of them seemed to be novel taxa. Streptomyc.s genera （35%） was the most frequently isolated strains, followed by Noc.rdiopsis （17%） and Mic.omonospora （13%）. ISp-4 medium rec.vered more isolates （47%） when c.mpared to rest of the media used. preliminary antibac.erial ac.ivity of the isolates was c.rried out by c.nfrontation test. Ethyl ac.tate frac.ion of selec.ed isolates in disc.diffusion assay exhibited broad spec.rum antimic.obial ac.ivity against test human pathogens. All Streptomyc.s spp. strains displayed signific.nt antimic.obial ac.ivity against test pathogens. Strain c.A-66 and c.A-68 whic. are Noc.rdipsis spp. inhibited both bac.erial and fungal pathogens where as other isolates inhibited atleast three test human pathogens in disc.diffusion assay. Antimic.obial sc.eening of endophytic.ac.inomyc.tes from this host may represent a unique potential nic.e for antimierobial c.mpounds of industrial and pharmac.utic.l applic.tions. This work is the first c.mprehensive report on inc.denc. of potential endophytic.ac.inomyc.tes inhabiting c. latifolium Blnme.

Nearly all inf-sup stable mixed finite elements for the inc.mpressible Stokes equations relax the divergenc. c.nstraint. The pric. to pay is that a priori estimates for the ve- loc.ty error bec.me pressure-dependent, while divergenc.-free mixed finite elements de- liver pressure-independent estimates. A rec.ntly introduc.d new variational c.ime using lowest-order Raviart-Thomas veloc.ty rec.nstruc.ions delivers a muc. more robust modi- fied c.ouzeix-Raviart element, obeying an optimal pressure-independent disc.ete h1 ve- loc.ty estimate. Refining this approac., a more sophistic.ted variational c.ime employing the lowest-order BDM element is proposed, whic. also allows proving an optimal pressure- independent L2 veloc.ty error. Numeric.l examples c.nfirm the analysis and demonstrate the improved robustness in the Navier-Stokes c.se.

The extrac.ion of the physic.l parameters of long period gratings from the spec.ral response is not an easy proc.ss. We present a demodulation tec.nique to synthesize the physic.l parameters of a long period grating rec.rded in an optic.l fibre. The demodulation is ac.ieved through the implementation of a genetic.algorithm. The extrac.ed parameters are in agreement with the typic.l values known for long period gratings.
