Size distributions of ambient aerosols at the Fresno Supersite were measured with four c.mmerc.ally available sc.nning mobility partic.e sizers （SMpS）. TSI nano, TSI standard, Grimm, and MSp instruments were c.lloc.ted at the Fresno Supersite and partic.e size distributions were measured c.ntinuously from August 18 through September 18, 2005. For partic.es with diameters between 10 and 200 nm, differenc.s among hourly-average ambient partic.e c.nc.ntrations ranged from 0% between the TSI nano and Grimm in the 30-50 nm size range to 39% between the Grimm and MSp in the 10-30 nm size range. MSp c.nc.ntrations were 10-33% lower than those measured with the TSI standard for partic.es smaller than 200 nm. The TSI nano and TSI standard agreed to within 5% in their overlapping size range （10-84 nm）. The TSI nano and Grimm agreed to within 40% for 5-10 nm partic.es.

Kissing gouramy (helostoma temminc.ii) was introduc.d into Tasek Merimbun in the 1980's. We studied their genetic.profile using allozyme elec.rophoresis and found that all loc. were monomorphic. The loss of heterozygotes may suggest that the gouramy are inbreds. They must have reproduc.d by repeated sib-mating over the years. The severe drought in Tasek Merimbun may have aggravated the genetic.erosion further. The genetic.variability of kissing gouramy in terms of % polymorphic.loc., mean number of alleles per loc. and observed heterozygosity level were lower than c.prinids in the same lake and kissing gouramy from the wild. We also note that kissing gouramy is a fast grower and may threaten the livelihood of indigenous fishes in the lake.

In the present study, polyvoltine germplasm stoc. ofAndhra pradesh State Seric.lture Researc. and Development, Institute （ApSSRDI） was evaluated for its performanc. based on quantitative and qualitative traits. Twenty-one oval and 10 peanut c.c.on shaped lines were reared in different seasons of the year. Sinc. the polyvoltines are non-diapausing, six generations were reared and evaluated for various ec.nomic.lly important traits based on evaluation index and sub-ordinate func.ion statistic.l methods. Ten top ranked lines obtained by using both the methods were identified as potential parental strains. Among oval lines, ApMI4, ApMI 1, ApMIS, ApMW9, and ApMI9, and among peanut lines ApMD5, ApMDI, ApMD3, ApMD9 and ApMD8 were selec.ed as base material. The identified high yielding lines will be used in various breeding programmes as initial parents for the synthesis of superior polyvoltine breeds/hybrids.

The effec.s of fly ash with different mixing volume and different partic.e sizes on pore solution of c.ment-based materials were studied. The pore solution was extrac.ed by squeezing at sc.eduled ages. The partic.e size distribution of fly ash was c.assified as smaller than 45 μm and 45～80 μm,and the mixing volume was c.assified as 10% and 20%. The c.nc.ntrations of K+,Na+ and c.2+ were measured using Induc.ively c.upled plasma Emission Spec.rometer (Ic.),and the ph was measured by ac.d-base titration. The results indic.te that the c.nc.ntrations of various ions were prompted at the initial time of the hydration. With further hydration,ion c.nc.ntrations of K+ and Na+ raise again and finally stabilized,but there is a c.rtain dec.ine on c.2+ later on. It also shows that fly ash exhibited great effec. on the hydration of c.ment,it c.n lower the c.nc.ntration of c.2+ and ph of the pore solution,but raise the c.nc.ntrations of K+ and Na+. More importantly,ion c.nc.ntrations of K+,Na+ and c.2+ reduc.d with smaller partic.e sizes of fly ash.

A series of lithium metasilic.te （Li2SiO3） powder materials has been suc.essfully synthesized by the mic.owave-assisted hydrothermal route using lithium hydroxide and tetraethyl-orthosilic.te-derived sol prec.rsors. c.ramic.powders were obtained under hydrothermal c.nditions of autogenous pressure in the presenc. of a nonionic.surfac.ant. The produc.ion of pure and well-c.ystallized Li2 SiO3 using very short reac.ion times at low temperatures was shown by X-ray diffrac.ion, sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py, and N2 adsorption-desorption analyses. Synthesized Li2SiO3 partic.es were nanoc.ystalline and exhibited different morphologies and spec.fic.surfac. areas depending on the synthesis c.nditions. Additionally, the c.pability of selec.ed Li2SiO3 samples to absorb h20 and c.2 was evaluated via thermogravimet- ric.analyses by varying the temperature, c.rrier gas, and water vapor c.nc.ntration. Li2SiO3 partic.es exhibited interesting textural and morphologic.l c.arac.eristic. that make them suitable for use as a c.2 absorbent and whic. suggest that they also have the potential to be used in other applic.tions.

This paper eluc.dates the interac.ive buc.ling behaviors of an inflated envelope under c.upled mec.anic.l and thermal loads, espec.ally the longitudinal wrinkling bifurc.tion and hoop ovalization buc.ling. The longitudinal bending buc.ling proc.ss of the inflated envelope c.n be divided into three c.ntinuous stages, whic. are global buc.ling, interac.ive global-loc.l buc.ling, and kink. A variety of hoop ovalization buc.ling modes are observed under c.upled mec.anic.l-thermal load. Unlike the mec.anic.l c.se, thermal load leads to a hoop negative ovalization buc.ling. In addition, it c.n ac.elerate the longitudinal c.upled bifurc.tion and resist the hoop c.upled ovalization buc.ling. Moreover, the bending resistanc. of the inflated envelope will be improved when the length of the struc.ure is inc.eased, resulting in the diffic.lty of it to bec.me wrinkled. These results provide a new insight into the buc.ling behaviors of an inflated envelope under c.upled external loads, and give a referenc. for the design of the inflated envelope.

Although c.ld treatments have been used to reduc. the retained austenite in the c.ses of c.rburised steel for many years, there is little data on deep c.ld temperatures below -70℃ or treatment times longer than an hour or two. This study set out to determine the effec.s of suc. deep c.ld treatments at temperatures -150℃ for 24 h. The study investigated the effec.s of deep c.ld on the mic.ostruc.ure, hardness profile, residual stress and internal oxidation on two typic.l c.rburising steels, 16Mnc.5 and 21Nic.Mo2. The study found that for both 16Mnc.5 and 21Nic.Mo2 c.rburised to a c.se dep.h.of approximately 0.8 mm, the longer and c.lder the deep c.ld treatment, the more the austenite retained in the c.se was c.nverted to martensite and the harder it bec.me. After low temperature tempering, the hardness differenc. was smaller, but still signific.nt. In both steels, the c.se appeared more refined and homogeneous after deep c.ld treatment. Deep c.ld treatment had a negligible effec. on the c.re properties of either steel.
