Parallelized fluorescence imaging has been a long-standing pursuit that can address the unmet need for a comprehensive three-dimensional(3d)visualization of dynamical biological processes with minimal ***,the available approaches are limited to incomplete parallelization in only two dimensions or sparse sampling in three *** hereby develop a novel fluorescence imaging approach,called coded light-sheet array microscopy(CLAm),which allows complete parallelized 3d imaging without mechanical *** the concept of an“infinity mirror”,CLAm generates a light-sheet array with controllable sheet density and degree of ***,CLAm circumvents the common complications of multiple coherent light-sheet generation in terms of dedicated wavefront engineering and mechanical dithering/***,the encoding of multiplexed optical sections in CLAm allows the synchronous capture of all sectioned images within the imaged *** demonstrate the utility of CLAm in different imaging scenarios,including a light-scattering medium,an optically cleared tissue,and microparticles in fluidic *** can maximize the signal-to-noise ratio and the spatial duty cycle,and also provides a further reduction in photobleaching compared to the major scanning-based 3d imaging *** flexible implementation of CLAm regarding both hardware and software ensures compatibility with any light-sheet imaging modality and could thus be instrumental in a multitude of areas in biological research.

This Opinion piece is offered as a cursory overview of sperm development,function, and transport through the eyes of an equine veterinarian. my professional background is predominantly clinical in nature, but my fascination with sperm function and preservation has led to a fairly sizeable review of the scientific literature over the years in hopes of extracting laboratory findings that have application to my daily activities in the clinical arena. Spermatozoa are quite unique among cellular types with regard to both form and function, and represent the only endogenously derived cell type that exerts its action in a separate being. This paper takes the reader on a voyage with a mammalian spermatozoon, from its formative stages through its transport in the male and female reproductive tracts, and culminating with its interaction with an ovulated oocyte at the time of fertilization. Specific emphasis is placed on equine spermatozoa when notable research findings have been unveiled.

This paper will briefly describe the evolution of the LOd, the emerging world-wide semantic web （WWSW）, and explore the scalability and performance features Of the service oriented architecture that forms the foundation of the semantic technology platform developed at mImOS Bhd., for addressing the challenges posed by the intelligent future internet. This paper＂ concludes with a review of the current status of the agriculture linked open data.

determinants and rates of land degradation： Application of stationary time-series model to data from a semi-arid environment in Kenya

The causes of land degradation in the African drylands have been shown to vary. Some researchers consider climate to be the major contributor to degradation, with anthropogenic factors playing a minor role. Others reverse the significance of these two factors. A third group attributes land degradation to climate and anthropogenic factors equally. This study was undertaken to establish the factors influencing land degradation in a semi-arid environment in southeastern Kenya and the rate of change in vegetation types for a period of 35 years （1973-2007）. The reduction in grassland cover was used as an indicator of land degradation. Causes of land degradation were determined by a multiple regression analysis. A log-linear regression analysis was used to establish the rate of vegetation change. The multiple and log-linear regression analyses showed：（1） woody vegetation, livestock population and cultivated area to be the main contributors of reduction in grassland cover in the area, and （2） an increase in undesirable woody species, livestock population and cultivated area had a significant （P〈0.05） negative effect on grassland vegetation. Increased human population, low amounts of rainfall and drought showed no significant negative effect on grassland vegetation cover. In conclusion, human and livestock population growth and increased agricultural land have contributed to intensive crop cultivation and overgrazing in the semi-arid lands. This overuse of the semi-arid rangelands has worsened the deterioration of the natural grassland vegetation.

Tanzanian rainfall responses to El Nino and positive Indian Ocean dipole events during 1951-2015

The relative impacts of Indian and Pacific Ocean processes on Tanzanian rainfall was evaluated using composite and correlation *** was found that the seasonal responses of rainfall to positive Indian Ocean dipole(pIOd)and El Nino events are substantial from September-October-November(SON)to december-January-February(dJF),whereas the Indian Ocean dipole(IOd)exerts more control than El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)in both *** associated relationship with the sea surface temperature(SST)and large-scale atmo-spheric circulations revealed distinct *** the pure pIOd years,there is above-normal rainfall over the entire country.A strong rainfall condition is evident over the Lake Victoria basin and coastal and northeastern highland parts of the country during SON,while areas of the central and southern highlands exhibit substantial rains during *** the pure El-Nino events,Tanzania has suffered from insignificant,weak,and non-coherent rainfall conditions during ***,a contrasting insignificant rainfall signature is found between the north-ern and southern parts of the country during the subsequent dJF *** the co-occurrence of pIOd and El Nino,significant,excessive rainfall conditions are restricted to over the northern coast and northeastern areas of the country during SON,consistent with the rainfall pattern for pIOd.A weak,positive rainfall condition is observed over the entire country in the following season of ***,in terms of Tanzanian rainfall,the IOd/ENSO variability and the associated impacts can be explained by the anomalous SST and circulation anomalies.

Inter-cluster Voltage Balancing Control of modular multilevel Cascaded Converter Under Unbalanced Grid Voltage

This paper presents a novel inter-cluster direct current(dC)capacitor voltage balancing control scheme for the single-star configured modular multilevel cascaded converter(mmCC)-based static synchronous compensator(STATCOm)under unbalanced grid *** negative-sequence component of grid voltage at the point of common connection(PCC)causes unbalanced active power flow in the phase limbs of *** leads to the imbalance of dC voltages of the sub-module capacitors across the mmCC phases,and consequently,the malfunction of *** proposed solution is to inject both negative-sequence current(NSC)and zero-sequence voltage(ZSV)into the phase limbs of mmCC.A quantification factor Qf is used to achieve the sharing of inter-cluster active pow-er between the NSC and ZSV injection *** determination of the quantification factor has been *** addition to maintaining the dC voltages of sub-module capacitor across the mmCC phases balanced,it also prevents the overcurrent and overvoltage of converter by injecting NSC and ZSV with the right *** control scheme is validated on a 3.54 kV 1.2 mVA power system using mmCC-based STATCOm with 3-level bridge cells as *** results show that the proposed scheme provides superior effectiveness in eliminating the voltage imbalance of dC capacitor in the phase limb while maintaining low voltage and current ratings.

SPHLU:An Efficient Algorithm for Processing PRkNN Queries on Uncertain data

Query on uncertain data has received much attention in recent years, especially with the development of Location-based services(LBS). Little research is focused on reverse k nearest neighbor queries on uncertain data. We study the Probabilistic reverse k nearest neighbor(PRkN N) queries on uncertain data. It is succinctly shown that, PRkN N query retrieves all the points that have higher probabilities than a given threshold value to be the Reverse k-nearest neighbor(RkN N) of query data *** previous works on this topic mostly process with k > *** algorithms allow the cases for k > 1, but the efficiency is inefficient especially for large k. We propose an efficient pruning algorithm — Spatial pruning heuristic with louer and upper bound(SPHLU) for solving the PRkN N queries for k > 1. The experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm is even more efficient than the existent algorithms especial for a large value of k.

Efficacy of epothilones in central nervous system trauma treatment:what has age got to do with it?

Central nervous system injury,specifically traumatic brain and spinal cord injury,can have significant long lasting *** are no comprehensive treatments to combat the injury and sequalae of events that occurring following a central nervous system *** we discuss the potential for the epothilone family of microtubule stabilizing agents to improve outcomes following experimentally induced *** drugs,which are able to cross the blood-brain barrier,may hold great promise for the treatment of central nervous system trauma and the current literature presents the extensive range of beneficial effects these drugs may have following trauma in animal ***,the effect of the epothilones can vary and our most recent contributions to this field indicate that the efficacy of epothilones following traumatic brain injury is dependent upon the age of the ***,we present a case for a greater emphasis to be placed upon age when using an intervention aimed at neural regeneration and highlight the importance of tailoring the therapeutic regime in the clinic to the age of the patient to promote improved patient outcomes.
