The rapid increase in the publication of knowledge bases as linked open data （LOD） warrants serious consideration from all concerned, as this phenomenon will potentially scale exponentially. This paper will briefly describe the evolution of the LOD, the emerging world-wide semantic web （WWSW）, and explore the scalability and performance features Of the service oriented architecture that forms the foundation of the semantic technology platform developed at MIMOS Bhd., for addressing the challenges posed by the intelligent future internet. This paper＂ concludes with a review of the current status of the agriculture linked open data.

This Opinion piece is offered as a cursory overview of sperm development,function, and transport through the eyes of an equine veterinarian. My professional background is predominantly clinical in nature, but my fascination with sperm function and preservation has led to a fairly sizeable review of the scientific literature over the years in hopes of extracting laboratory findings that have application to my daily activities in the clinical arena. Spermatozoa are quite unique among cellular types with regard to both form and function, and represent the only endogenously derived cell type that exerts its action in a separate being. This paper takes the reader on a voyage with a mammalian spermatozoon, from its formative stages through its transport in the male and female reproductive tracts, and culminating with its interaction with an ovulated oocyte at the time of fertilization. Specific emphasis is placed on equine spermatozoa when notable research findings have been unveiled.

The relative impacts of Indian and Pacific Ocean processes on Tanzanian rainfall was evaluated using composite and correlation *** was found that the seasonal responses of rainfall to positive Indian Ocean Dipole(pIOD)and El Nino events are substantial from September-October-November(SON)to December-January-February(DJF),whereas the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD)exerts more control than El Nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)in both *** associated relationship with the sea surface temperature(SST)and large-scale atmo-spheric circulations revealed distinct *** the pure pIOD years,there is above-normal rainfall over the entire country.A strong rainfall condition is evident over the Lake Victoria basin and coastal and northeastern highland parts of the country during SON,while areas of the central and southern highlands exhibit substantial rains during *** the pure El-Nino events,Tanzania has suffered from insignificant,weak,and non-coherent rainfall conditions during ***,a contrasting insignificant rainfall signature is found between the north-ern and southern parts of the country during the subsequent DJF *** the co-occurrence of pIOD and El Nino,significant,excessive rainfall conditions are restricted to over the northern coast and northeastern areas of the country during SON,consistent with the rainfall pattern for pIOD.A weak,positive rainfall condition is observed over the entire country in the following season of ***,in terms of Tanzanian rainfall,the IOD/ENSO variability and the associated impacts can be explained by the anomalous SST and circulation anomalies.

SPHLU:An Efficient Algorithm for Processing PRkNN Queries on Uncertain Data

Query on uncertain data has received much attention in recent years, especially with the development of Location-based services(LBS). Little research is focused on reverse k nearest neighbor queries on uncertain data. We study the Probabilistic reverse k nearest neighbor(PRkN N) queries on uncertain data. It is succinctly shown that, PRkN N query retrieves all the points that have higher probabilities than a given threshold value to be the Reverse k-nearest neighbor(RkN N) of query data *** previous works on this topic mostly process with k > *** algorithms allow the cases for k > 1, but the efficiency is inefficient especially for large k. We propose an efficient pruning algorithm — Spatial pruning heuristic with louer and upper bound(SPHLU) for solving the PRkN N queries for k > 1. The experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm is even more efficient than the existent algorithms especial for a large value of k.

Central nervous system injury,specifically traumatic brain and spinal cord injury,can have significant long lasting *** are no comprehensive treatments to combat the injury and sequalae of events that occurring following a central nervous system *** we discuss the potential for the epothilone family of microtubule stabilizing agents to improve outcomes following experimentally induced *** drugs,which are able to cross the blood-brain barrier,may hold great promise for the treatment of central nervous system trauma and the current literature presents the extensive range of beneficial effects these drugs may have following trauma in animal ***,the effect of the epothilones can vary and our most recent contributions to this field indicate that the efficacy of epothilones following traumatic brain injury is dependent upon the age of the ***,we present a case for a greater emphasis to be placed upon age when using an intervention aimed at neural regeneration and highlight the importance of tailoring the therapeutic regime in the clinic to the age of the patient to promote improved patient outcomes.

Newmark displacement model for landslides induced by the 2013 Ms 7.0 Lushan earthquake, China

Predicting approximate earthquake-induced landslide displacements is helpful for assessing earthquake hazards and designing slopes to withstand future earth- quake shaking. In this work, the basic methodology outlined by Jibson （1993） is applied to derive the Newmark displacement of landslides based on strong ground-motion recordings during the 2013 Lushan Ms 7.0 earthquake. By analyzing the relationships between Arias intensity, New- mark displacement, and critical acceleration of the Lushan earthquake, formulas of the Jibson93 and its modified models are shown to be applicable to the Lushan earthquake dataset. Different empirical equations with new fitting coefficients for estimating Newmark displace- ment are then developed for comparative analysis. The results indicate that a modified model has a better goodness of fit and a smaller estimation error for the Jibson93 formula. It indicates that the modified model may be more reasonable for the dataset of the Lushan earthquake. The analysis of results also suggests that a global equation is not ideally suited to directly estimate the Newmark displacements of landslides induced by one specific earthquake. Rather it is empirically better to perform a new multivariate regression analysis to derive new coefficients for the global equation using the dataset of the specific earthquake. The results presented in this paper can be applied to a future co-seismic landslide hazard assessment to inform reconstruction efforts in the area affected by the 2013 Lushan Ms 7.0 earthquake, and for future disaster prevention and mitigation.

Tumour induced osteomalacia(TIO) is a rare and often unrecognized cause of hypophosphatemia. We report on a case of TIO due to a hemangiopericytoma originating from the left nasal sinus. The patient was a 55-year-old male with a 3-year history of left hip pain and an undisplaced left hip fracture. Biochemical testing demonstrated low levels of serum phosphate and serum 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D, and an elevated level of fibroblast growth factor 23. Octreotide scanning demonstrated uptake in the left nasal sinus area and a computed tomography scan revealed a left nasal sinus mass. The patient underwent surgical resection of the mass and histology was consistent with a sinonasal hemangiopericytoma. His serum phosphate levels normalized almost immediately after surgery and he had complete resolution of hip pain. Our case highlights the importance of considering TIO when assessing patients with low serum phosphate.

Stem cell research is a promising area of transplantation and regenerative medicine with tremendous potential for improving the clinical treatment and diagnostic options across a variety of conditions and enhancing understanding of human *** the past few decades,mesenchymal stem cell(MSCs)studies have exponentially increased with a promising ***,regardless of the huge investment and the research attention given to stem cell research,FDA approval for clinical use is still *** the challenges confronting stem cell research as a cellbased product,there appears to be evidence of superior effect and heightened potential success in its expressed vesicles,exosomes,as cell-free *** addition to their highly desirable intrinsic biologically unique structural,compositional,and morphological characteristics,as well as predominant physiochemical stability and biocompatibility properties,exosomes can also be altered to enhance their therapeutic capability or diagnostic imaging potential via physical,chemical,and biological modification *** importantly,the powerful therapeutic potential and superior biological functions of exosomes,particularly,regarding engineered exosomes as cell-free products,and their utilization in a new generation of nanomedicine treatment,vaccination,and diagnosis platforms,brings hope of a change in the near *** viewpoint discusses the trend of stem cell research and why stem cell-derived exosomes could be the game-changer.
