Heterogeneous interfaces produced by interdomain interactions on a nanoscale performs a crucial role in boosting the properties of an electrocatalyst toward oxygen evolution reaction(OER)***,a series of dual-phase electrodes with intimately connected heterointerfaces are prepared by in situ decomposing solid solution oxide of Ni_(x)Co_(y)Fe_(100-x-y)O,which grew on Ni foam massively via an ultrafast combustion ***,with high-reaction kinetics caused by the reduction treatment at 450℃,the less electronegative Fe and Co are more oxyphilic than Ni,which facilitated their co-exsolution and formation of CoFe_2O_4/NiO oxide with enriched oxygen *** from the nanoporous framework,heterojunction structure,and oxygen defects,the self-supporting electrodes present rapid charge/mass transmission and provide abundant active sites for *** optimized sample(R-SNCF4.5)shows low overpotentials of 226 and 324 mV at 10 and100 mA·cm^(-2),a small Tafel slope(46.7 mV·dec^(-1)),and excellent *** assembled R-SNCF4.5//Pt/C/NF electrolyzer demonstrates continuous electrolysis over 50 h at a current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2),under 1.51 *** functional theory(DFT)calculations verify that the strong electronic modulation plays a critical part in the CoFe_2O_4/NiO hybrid by lowering the energy barriers for the ratedetermining steps,and Fe sites are the most active OER sites.

A new species of Bostrychus (Gobiiformes: Eleotridae) from the East China Sea

DEAR EDITOR,Bostrychus,a genus in the family Eleotridae of the order Gobiiformes,was first established by Lacepède in 1801(Buffon,1801).Bostrychus currently contains seven recognized species,including two recent additions(*** and ***)described in 2005(Hoese&Kottelat,2005)and 2008(Larson,2008),*** natural range of Bostrychus species extends from East Asia to Australia,with the exception of ***,Steindachner,1879,which is distributed in West Africa(Herre,1946).Among the recognized species,***,***,and *** are relatively widespread,inhabiting diverse areas from estuaries to freshwater streams,while *** is only found at a single mangrove site in the Selangor State of Malaysia(Larson,2008).The remaining three species exhibit a high degree of habitat specialization and are highly localized(Hoese&Kottelat,2005):*** inhabits a cave stream in the Maros karst of southern Sulawesi,*** is confined to freshwater environments in the Aru Islands of Indonesia,and *** is found only in freshwater areas in southern Papua New Guinea and Irian Jaya.

Removal of kathon by UV-C activated hydrogen peroxide:Kinetics,mechanisms,and enhanced biodegradability assessment

Kathon(CMI-MI),a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(CMI)and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(MI),was extensively used in industry as a nonoxidizing biocide or ***,it would show adverse effects on aquatic life when it is discharged into surface *** this study,the removal performance,parameter influence,degradation products and enhancement of subsequent biodegradation of CMI-MI in UV/H_(2)O_(2)system were systematically *** degradation rate of CMI-MI could reach 90%under UV irradiation for 20 min when the dosage of H_(2)O_(2)was 0.3 mmol·L^(–1).The DOC(dissolved organic carbon)mineralization rate of CMI-MI could reach 35%under certain conditions([H_(2)O_(2)]=0.3 mmol·L^(–1),UV irradiation for 40 min).kobs was inversely proportional to the concentration of CMI-MI and proportional to the concentration of H_(2)O_(2).The degradation rate of CMIMI was almost unchanged in the pH range from 4 to *** the presence of CO_(3)^(2-)inhibited the removal rate of CMI-MI,SO_(4)^(2-),Cl^(-),NO_(3)^(-),and NH_(4)^(+) did not interfere with the degradation of CMI-MI in the *** was found that UV/H_(2)O_(2)system had lower energy consumption and more economic advantage compared with UV/PS system by comparing the EEO(electric energy per order)values under the same *** main organic products were identified,namely HCOOH and CH_(3)NH_(2).There’s also the formation of Cl^(-)and SO_(4)^(2-).After UV and UV/H_(2)O_(2)photolysis,the biochemical properties of CMI-MI solution were obviously improved,especially the UV/H_(2)O_(2)treatment effect was better,indicating that UV/H_(2)O_(2)technology is expected to combine with biotechnology to remove CMI-MI effectively and environmentally friendly from wastewater.

As a serious cardiovascular disease,atherosclerosis(AS)causes chronic inflammation and oxidative stress in the body and poses a threat to human ***-associated phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2)is a member of the phospholipase A2(PLA2)family,and its elevated levels have been shown to contribute to ***-PLA2 is closely related to a variety of lipoproteins,and its role in promoting inflammatory responses and oxidative stress in AS is mainly achieved by hydrolyzing oxidized phosphatidylcholine(ox PC)to produce lysophosphatidylcholine(lyso PC).Moreover,macrophage apoptosis within plaque is promoted by localized Lp-PLA2 which also promotes plaque *** paper reviews those researches of Chinese medicine in treating AS via reducing Lp-PLA2 levels to guide future experimental studies and clinical applications related to AS.

AIM:To investigate systemic immune-inflammation index(SII),neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),and plateletto-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)levels in patients with type 2 diabetes at different stages of diabetic retinopathy(DR).METHODS:This retrospective study included 141 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM):45 without diabetic retinopathy(NDR),47 with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR),and 49 with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).Complete blood counts were obtained,and NLR,PLR,and SII were *** study analysed the ability of inflammatory markers to predict DR using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)*** relationships between DR stages and SII,PLR,and NLP were assessed using multivariate logistic ***:The average NLR,PLR,and SII were higher in the PDR group than in the NPDR group(P=0.011,0.043,0.009,respectively);higher in the NPDR group than in the NDR group(PluSION:The NLR,PLR,and SII may be used as predictors of DR.

Cymbidium(Orchidaceae:Epidendroideae),with around 60 species,is widely-distributed across Southeast Asia,providing a nice system for studying the processes that underlie patterns of biodiversity in the ***,phylogenetic relationships of Cymbidium have not been well resolved,hampering investigations of species diversification and the biogeographical history of this *** this study,we construct a plastome phylogeny of 56 Cymbidium species,with four well-resolved major clades,which provides a framework for biogeographical and diversification rate *** dating and biogeographical analyses show that Cymbidium likely originated in the region spanning northern IndoBurma to the eastern Himalayas during the early Miocene(~21.10 Ma).It then rapidly diversified into four major clades in East Asia within approximately a million years during the middle *** *** to the adjacent regions(Borneo,Philippines,and Sulawesi)primarily occurred during the Pliocene-Pleistocene *** analyses indicate that the net diversification rate of Cymbidium has decreased since its origin,and is positively associated with changes in temperature and monsoon *** hydrothermal conditions brought by monsoon intensification in the early Miocene possibly contributed to the initial rapid diversification,after which the net diversification rate was reduced with the cooling climate after the middle *** transition from epiphytic to terrestrial habits may have enabled adaptation to cooler environments and colonization of northern niches,yet without a significant effect on diversification *** study provides new insights into how monsoon activity and temperature changes affected the diversification dynamics of plants in Southeast Asia.

Investigating the dynamics and interactions of surface features on Pine Island Glacier using remote sensing and deep learning

Pine Island Glacier(PIG),the largest glacier in the Amundsen Sea Embayment of West Antarctica,has contributed to over a quarter of the observed sea level rise around *** recent years,multiple observations have confirmed its continuous retreat,ice flow acceleration and profound surface *** these changes is crucial for accurately monitoring ice mass discharge and future Antarctic contributions to sea level ***,it is essential to investigate the complex interactions between these variables to comprehend how they collectively affect the overall stability of the intricate PIG *** this study,we utilized high-resolution remote sensing data and deep learning method to detect and analyze the spatio-temporal variations of surface melt,ice shelf calving,and ice flow velocity of the PIG from 2015 to *** explored the correlations among these factors to understand their long-term impacts on the glacier's *** findings reveal a retreat of 26.3 km and a mass loss of 1001.6 km²during ***,extensive surface melting was observed,particularly in the 2016/2017 and 2019/2020 melting *** data vividly illustrate prolonged and intense melting periods,correlating with a significant retreat in the glacier's terminus position in 2019/***,the comprehensive analysis of surface melting and the cumulative retreat of the ice shelf from 2017 to 2020 on the PIG shows atemporal relationship with subsequent significant changes in ice fow velocity,ranging from 10.9 to 12.2 m d^(-1),with an average acceleration rate of 12%.These empirical findings elucidate the intricate relationship among surface melt,ice flow velocity,and consequential glacier dynamics.A profound understanding of these interrelationships holds paramount importance in glacier dynamic changes and modeling,providing invaluable insights into potential glacier responses to global climate change.

Real-time predictions of the 2023–2024 climate conditions in the tropical Pacific using a purely data-driven Transformer model

Following triple La Ni?a events during 2020–2022, the future evolution of climate conditions over the tropical Pacific has been a focused interest in ENSO-related communities. Observations and modeling studies indicate that an El Ni?o event is occurring in 2023; however, large uncertainties remain in terms of its detailed evolution, and the factors affecting its resultant amplitude remain to be understood. Here, a novel deep learning-based Transformer model is adopted to make real-time predictions for the 2023–2024 climate conditions in the tropical Pacific. Several key fields vital to the El Ni?o and Southern Oscillation(ENSO) in the tropical Pacific are collectively and simultaneously utilized in model training and in making predictions; therefore, this purely data-driven model is configured in both training and predicting procedures such that the coupled ocean-atmosphere interactions are adequately represented. Also similar to dynamic models, the prediction procedure is executed in a rolling manner to allow ocean-atmosphere anomaly exchanges month by month; the related key fields during multi-month time intervals(TIs) prior to prediction target months are taken as input predictors, serving as initial conditions to precondition the future evolution more effectively. Real-time predictions indicate that the climate conditions in the tropical Pacific are surely to develop into an El Ni?o state in late 2023. Furthermore, sensitivity experiments are conducted to examine how prediction skills are affected by the input predictor specifications, including TIs during which information on initial conditions is retained for making predictions. A comparison with other dynamic coupled models is also made to demonstrate the prediction performance for the 2023–2024 El Ni?o event.

Introduction:Newer skin tests,including the ESAT6-CFP10(EC)skin test,were recommended for diagnosing Mycobacterium tuberculosis(***)***,no data exist assessing the diagnostic performance of the EC skin test among foreign students with different skin ***:A cohort study at Nanjing Medical University screened incoming foreign *** EC skin test was used to assess for *** infection,and results were read at 24,48,72,and 96-hours ***:Among 96 participants,*** infection rates at 24,48,72,and 96-hours post-injection were 3.13%,7.29%,13.54%,and 9.38%,*** infection rates were lower among individuals with darker skin tones,the difference was not statistically significant(P=0.186),and variations were consistent across different measurement *** analysis revealed 5.3%in the continuousincreasing group,86.5%in the low-stable group,and 5.2%in the elevated-decreasing ***,participants in the elevated-decreasing group had lighter skin tones,with trajectory patterns consistent across different skin ***:The EC skin test is safe,and redness diameter is a more reliable indicator than *** should be collected within 48 to 72 hours,with verification at 72 hours crucial if initial results are ***,skin color does not affect EC skin test outcomes.
