Kyasanur Forest disease(KFD),a tick-borne viral hemorrhagic fever,is endemic in five districts of Karnataka state,*** reports of the spread of disease to neighboring districts of the Western Ghats,namely Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka,Nilgiri district in Tamil Nadu,Wayanad and Malappuram districts in Kerala,and Pali village in Goa are a cause for *** vaccination of the affected population,establishing an event-based surveillance system for monkey deaths in the national parks,wildlife sanctuaries and reserve forests of the Western Ghats would help detect the disease early and thereby help implement appropriate control measures.

Documenting the recovery of hydrologic functions following perturbations of a landscape/watershed is important to address issues associated with land use change and ecosystem restoration. High resolution LiDAR data for the USDAForestServiceSanteeExperimentalForestin coastalSouth Carolina,USAwas used to delineate the remnant historical water management structures within the watersheds supporting bottomland hardwood forests that are typical of the re- gion. Hydrologic functions were altered during the early1700’s agricultural use period for rice cultivation, with changes to detention storage, impoundments, and runoff routing. Since late1800’s, the land was left to revert to forests, without direct intervention. The resultant bottomlands, while typical in terms of vegetative structure and composition, still have altered hydrologic pathways and functions due to the historical land use. Furthermore, an accurate estimate of the watershed drainage area (DA) contributing to stream flow is critical for reliable estimates of peak flow rate, runoff depth and coefficient, as well as water and chemical balance. Peak flow rate, a parameter widely used in design of channels and cross drainage structures, is calculated as a function of the DA and other parameters. However, in contrast with the upland watersheds, currently available topographic maps and digital elevation models (DEMs) used to estimate the DA are not adequate for flat, low-gradient Coastal Plain (LCP) landscape. In this paper we explore a case study of a 3rd order watershed (equivalent to 14-digit hydrologic unit code (HUC)) at headwaters of east branch of Cooper River draining to Charleston Harbor, SC to assess the drainage area and corresponding mean annual runoff coefficient based on various DEMs including LiDAR data. Hydroxyapatite (HA) is effectively used as a bioimplant material because it closely resembles bone apatite and exhibits good biocompatibility. This paper describe synthesis technique of HA powder by sol-gel method. The product was sintered twice at two different temperatures 400°C to 750°C to improve its crystallinity. The final powder sintered at two temperatures was characterized by X-ray analysis, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) to reveal its phase content, morphology and types of bond present within it. Thermal analysis (TG–DTA) was carried out to investigate the thermal stability of the powder.

Currently distillery effluents have attracted worldwide attention for their application in agricultural land. The present investigation deals with the effect of application of various dosages of distillery effluent irrigation on soil physicochemical, Cellulase and Urease activities in a tropical agricultural field. Experiment was designed in factorial model by using randomized block design. Soil cores were sampled from the selected pits of both polluted and non polluted (control) sites. Majority of soil physicochemical properties (e.g. silt, clay, electrical conductivity, organic matter, total nitrogen contents, cellulase and urease activities) were significantly higher in the samples from polluted site than the non polluted site just after 15 to 30 days of incubation. Although application of effluents at lower rate substantially increased the enzyme activities, the same decreased at high effluent concentration. Prolonged incubation period resulted in gradual suppression of enzyme activity in both polluted and nonpolluted soil samples. Thus, the present investigation suggest that with the passage of time substrate for enzyme activity decreases which in association with residual toxicity resulted in the reduced enzyme activity.

We present results of a high resolution study of the filamentary infrared dark cloud G192.76＋00.10 in the S254-S258 OB complex in several molecular species tracing different physical conditions. These include three isotopologues of carbon monoxide （CO）, ammonia （NH3） and carbon monosulfide （CS）. The aim of this work is to study the general structure and kinematics of the filamen- tary cloud, and its fragmentation and physical parameters. The gas temperature is derived from the NH3 （J, K） = （1, 1）, （2, 2） and 12CO（2-1） lines, and the 13CO（1-0）, 13CO（2-1） emission is used to inves- tigate the overall gas distribution and kinematics. Several dense clumps are identified from the CS（2-1） data. Values of the gas temperature lie in the range 10 - 35 K, and column density N（H2） reaches the value 5.1 ×1022 cm-2. The width of the filament is of order 1 pc. The masses of the dense clumps range from ×30 M⊙ to - 160 M⊙. They appear to be gravitationally unstable. The molecular emission shows a gas dynamical coherence along the filament, The velocity pattern may indicate longitudinal collapse.
