We give the sharp estimates for the degree of symmetry and the semi-simple degree of symmetry of certain compact fiber bundles with non-trivial four dimensional fibers in the sense of cobordism, by virtue of the rigidity theorem of harmonic maps due to schoen and Yau (Topology, 18, 1979, 361-380). As a corollary of this estimate, we compute the degree of symmetry and the semi-simple degree of symmetry of CP2×V, where V is a closed smooth manifold admitting a real analytic Riemannian metric of non-positive curvature. In addition, by the Albanese map, we obtain the sharp estimate of the degree of symmetry of a compact smooth manifold with some restrictions on its one dimensional cohomology.

The authors first prove a convergence result on the Ka(?)anov method for solving generalnonlinear variational inequalities of the second kind and then apply the Kacanov method tosolve a nonlinear variational inequality of the second kind arising in elastoplasticity. In additionto the convergence result, an a posteriori error estimate is shown for the Kacanov iterates. Ineach step of the Ka(?)anov iteration, one has a (linear) variational inequality of the secondkind, which can be solved by using a regularization technique. The Ka(?)anov iteration andthe regularization technique together provide approximations which can be readily computednumerically. An a posteriori error estimate is derived for the combined effect of the Ka(?)anoviteration and the regularization.

sediment erosion and siltation in waterways can have ecological consequences as disastrous economically as those related to transport and flooding of adjacent lands. The impact of sediment erosion and deposition on human societies is recorded in many historical documents. The paleoecological record also provides evidence of the long-term effects of siltation. sedimentation rates in the Chesapeake Bay estuary, in mid-Atlantic usA, have doubled and quadrupled over the last 200 to 300 years with the initiation and intensification of agriculture. The result has been filling in of many estuarine tributaries and the transformation of the estuary from a benthic to a planktonic ecosystem. This change took place as light became limiting in the water column and benthic plants could no longer photosynthesize, resulting in a proliferation of planktonic algae. Planktonic algal growth was also fueled by fertilizers attached to eroded soil particles. leading ultimately to eutrophication within the water column and anoxia of the bottom waters.

We present our recent work on both linear and nonlinear data reduction methods and algorithms: for the linear case we discuss results on structure analysis of sVD of columnpartitioned matrices and sparse low-rank approximation; for the nonlinear case we investigate methods for nonlinear dimensionality reduction and manifold learning. The problems we address have attracted great deal of interest in data mining and machine learning.

Background:Many kinds of orchids have significant health benefits although ade-quate research on their biological functions is yet to be carried *** study inves-tigated the paracetamol-induced liver damage-protecting effect of epiphytic Aerides odorata methanol extract(AODE).Methods:The protective effects of AODE were studied by analyzing its effect on liver function parameters,messenger RNA(mRNA)expression,and tissue histopatho-logical *** results were confirmed by ligand-receptor interaction of molecular docking and multitarget interaction of network pharmacological ***:AODE significantly(pse-dependent increase in acid phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phos-phatase,γ-glutamyl transferase,lactate dehydrogenase,and total bilirubin compared to the reference drug *** level decreased,and the antioxidant genes catalase(CAT),superoxide dismutase(sOD),β-actin,paraoxonase-1(PON1),and phosphofructokinase-1(PFK-1)were upregulated in AODE-treated paracetamol-intoxicated rats.A total of 376 compounds comprising phenols and flavonoids were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry(uPLC-qTOF-Ms).The online toxicity assessment using swissADME and admetsAR exhibited drug-like,nontoxic,and potential pharmaco-logical ***,in silico analysis showed that isoacteoside,one of the identified compounds,exhibited the best docking score(−11.42)with the liver pro-tein human pituitary adenylate cyclase-1(Protein Data Bank ID:3N94).Furthermore,network pharmacology analysis identified the top 10 hub genes,namely AKT1(protein kinase B),CTNNB1(catenin beta-1),sRC(proto-oncogene c-src),TNF(tumor necrosis factor),EGFR(epidermal growth factor receptor),HsP90AA1(heat shock protein 90α),MAPK3(mitogen-activated protein kinase 3),sTAT3(signal transducer and activator of transcription 3),CAsP3(caspase protein),

Does fishing venture matter for reducing post-harvest loss?Empirical evidence from Bangladesh

The study was conducted to estimate the post-harvest loss(PHL)of inland capture fisheries in Bangladesh based on the fishing venture i.e.,sole proprietorship,partnership and cooperatives using Questionnaire Loss Assessment Method(QLAM).A total of 1339 fishermen were selected using stratified random sampling where 792,485,and 62 were involved in the sole proprietorship,partnership,and cooperatives types of fishing venture *** data were collected from thirty-nine districts across six divisions through the direct interview method covering 92 fish *** results indicated that Ashar(June-July)to Agrahayon(November-December)was the peak fishing period for every fishing *** study revealed that the high volumes of fishes were caught from haor for partnership and cooperatives while river was for sole *** study accounted lower PHL for cooperatives than that of sole proprietorship and partnership and found significance differences among them from Tukey’s pairwise *** estimated PHL was higher for Puti(Puntius chola)in sole proprietorship and partnership whereas Tengra(Gagata cenia)in cooperatives *** study suggests to expand the cooperatives fishing ventures widely in Bangladesh where the predominant factors(i.e.,longer harvesting duration,delaying in marketing the fishes and temperature,excess supply,and etc.)of causing PHL in this venture should be taken under consideration.
