The single nucleotide polymorphisms of the chicken myostatin gene are associated with skeletal muscle and adipose growth

Myostatin, a new member of the TGF-p superfamily, is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle cells and functions as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth in animals. Recently, we have reported three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the chicken my-ostatin gene. Herein, we investigate the association of those SNPs with the production traits in a F2 chicken line derived from Broilers crossing to Silky with the least square analysis. The results show that the BB and AA genotypes are strongly associated with abdominal fat weight (AFW), abdominal fat percentage (AFP), and birth weight (BW) (P < 0.05). Breast muscle percentage (BMP) of the AA type is higher than that of the AB type. The breast muscle weight and breast muscle percentages of F2 individuals have significant difference between CC and DD genotypes (P< 0.05). Breast muscle weight (BMW) of EF birds is higher than that of EE birds (P< 0.05). In this report, we present the first genetic evidence to show that chicken myostatin not only plays an important role in controlling skeletal muscle growth and differentiation, but also may be involved in regulation of adipose growth in chicken.

Semi-hydro-equivalent design and performance extrapolation between 100 kJ-scale and NIF-scale indirect drive implosion

Extrapolation of implosion performance between different laser energy scales is investigated for indirect drive through a semi-hydroequivalent *** radiation transport is non-hydro-equivalent,the peak radiation temperature of the hohlraum and the ablation velocity of the capsule ablator are not scale-invariant when the sizes of the hohlraum and the capsule are scale-varied.A semi-hydro-equivalent design method that keeps the implosion velocity V_(i),adiabat α_(F),and P_(L)/R_(hc)^(2) (where P_(L) is the laser power and R_(hc) is the hohlraum and capsule scale length)scale-invariant,is proposed to create hydrodynamically similar *** semi-hydro-equivalent design and the scaled implosion performance are investigated for the 100 kJ Laser Facility(100 kJ-scale)and the National Ignition Facility(NIF-scale)with about 2 MJ laser *** is found that the one-dimensional implosion performance is approximately hydro-equivalent when V_(i) and α_(F) are kept the *** to the non-hydro-equivalent radiation transport,the yield-over-clean without α-particle heating(YOC_(noα))is slightly lower at 100 kJ-scale than at NIF-scale for the same scaled radiation asymmetry or the same initial perturbation of the hydrodynamic *** overall scaled two-dimensional implosion performance is slightly lower at 100 *** general Lawson criterion factor scales asχ_(noα) ^(2D)∼S^(1.06±0.04)(where S is the scale-variation factor)for the semi-hydro-equivalent implosion design with a moderate YOC_(noα).Our study indicates that χ_(noα)≈0.379 is the minimum requirement for the 100 kJ-scale implosion to demonstrate the ability to achieve marginal ignition at NIF-scale.

以鳡肌肉总RNA为模板,采用RT-PCR和RACE的方法,获得了鳡肌肉生长抑制素(myostatin,MSTN)基因的3个重叠片段,测序后拼接得到2177bp全长cDNA序列,其包含了5′端非翻译区的89个核苷酸和3′端非翻译区1052个核苷酸以及1125个核苷酸的开放性阅读框,翻译编码375个氨基酸,其中前22个氨基酸为鳡MSTN的信号肽。鳡MSTN具有MSTN的共同特征,有蛋白酶水解位点RIRR和在C端生物活性区含9个保守的半胱氨酸残基。核苷酸和氨基酸同源性分析发现鳡MSTN与厚颌鲂、草鱼和鲤等鲤形目鱼类的同源性较高,与鲈形目的同源性较低,与哺乳动物和鸟类的同源性最低;系统发育分析表明鳡MSTN与厚颌鲂亲缘关系最近。半定量RT-PCR分析表明,该基因在肌肉和脑中表达量最高,在心肌中也有较高表达,在肝脏、肠、鳃和肾等组织中未见明显表达,此结果表明鳡MSTN基因除对肌肉生长发育有调控作用以外,可能还有其他功能。

Let $ \mathcal{F} $ be a family of meromorphic functions in a plane domain D, and a and b be finite non-zero complex values such that $ a/b \notin \mathbb{N}\backslash \{ 1\} $ . If for $ f \in \mathcal{F}, f(z) = a \Rightarrow f'(z) = a $ and $ f'(z) = b \Rightarrow f''(z) = b $ , then $ \mathcal{F} $ is normal. We also construct a non-normal family $ \mathcal{F} $ of meromorphic functions in the unit disk Δ={|z|<1} such that for every $ f \in \mathcal{F}, f(z) = m + 1 \Leftrightarrow f'(z) = m + 1 $ and $ f'(z) = 1 \Leftrightarrow f''(z) = 1 $ in Δ, where m is a given positive integer. This answers Problem 5.1 in the works of Gu, Pang and Fang.

Gradient Estimates for the Heat Kernels in Higher Dimensional Heisenberg Groups

The author obtains sharp gradient estimates for the heat kernels in two kinds of higher dimensional Heisenberg groups -- the non-isotropic Heisenberg group and the Heisenberg type group Hn,m. The method used here relies on the positive property of the Bakry-Emery curvature F2 on the radial functions and some associated semigroup technics.

Structure and Pozzolanic Activity of Calcined Coal Gangue during the Process of Mechanical Activation

On the basis of analyzing coal gangue＇s chemical and mineral compositions, the structure change of coal gangue during the mechanical activation was investigated by XRD, FTIR, NMR, and the mechanical strength of the cement doped coal gangue with various specific surface area was tested. The experimental results indicate that, the lattice structure of metakaolin in coal gangue samples calcined at 700 ℃ disorganizes gradually and becomes disordered, and the lattice structure of α-quartz is distorted slightly. The pozzolanic activity of the coal gangue increases obviously with its structural disorganization.

Early Hydration of Composite Cement with Thermal Activated Coal Gangue

Composite cement samples were prepared by mixing clinker, gypsum with burnt coal gangues which was calcined at various temperatures. The mechanical strength and Ca（OH）2 content in the cement paste were tested, and the paste composition and microstructure were analyzed by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis （TG-DSC）, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, scanning electronic microscopy （SEM） and pore structure analysis. Results demonstrate that the thermal activated coal gangue could accelerate the early hydration of cement clinker obviously, which promotes the gangue hydration itself. The early hydrated products of the cement are C-S-H gel, Ca（OH）2 and AFt. The cement with 30% （in mass） the gangue exhibits higher mechanical strength, and among all the cement samples the one with the gangue burnt at 700 ℃ displays the highest hydration rate, mechanical strength, the most gel pores and the lowest total porosity.
