The soft X-ray Imager(sXI)is part of the scientific payload of the solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere link Explorer(sMIlE)*** is a joint science mission between the European space Agency(EsA)and the Chinese Academy of sciences(CAs)and is due for launch in *** is a compact X-ray telescope with a wide field-of-view(FOV)capable of encompassing large portions of Earth’s magnetosphere from the vantage point of the sMIlE *** is sensitive to the soft X-rays produced by the solar Wind Charge eXchange(sWCX)process produced when heavy ions of solar wind origin interact with neutral particles in Earth’s *** provides a mechanism for boundary detection within the magnetosphere,such as the position of Earth’s magnetopause,because the solar wind heavy ions have a very low density in regions of closed magnetic field *** sensitivity of the sXI is such that it can potentially track movements of the magnetopause on timescales of a few minutes and the orbit of sMIlE will enable such movements to be tracked for segments lasting many *** is led by the university of leicester in the United kingdom(Uk)with collaborating organisations on hardware,software and science support within the Uk,Europe,China and the United states.

Exact solutions for magnetohydrodynamic nanofluids flow and heat transfer over a permeable axisymmetric radially stretching/shrinking sheet

We report on the magnetohydrodynamic impact on the axisymmetric flow of Al_(2)O_(3)/Cu nanoparticles suspended in H_(2)O past a stretched/shrinked *** the use of partial differential equations and the corresponding thermophysical characteristics of nanoparticles,the physical flow process is *** resultant nonlinear system of partial differential equations is converted into a system of ordinary differential equations using the suitable similarity *** transformed differential equations are solved *** of the magnetic parameter,solid volume fraction and stretching/shrinking parameter on momentum and temperature distribution have been analyzed and interpreted *** skin friction and nusselt number were also *** addition,existence of dual solution was deduced for the shrinking sheet and unique solution for the stretching ***,Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O nanofluid flow has better thermal conductivity on comparing with Cu/H_(2)O ***,it was found that the first solutions of the stream are stable and physically realizable,whereas those of the second ones are unstable.

Examining the effects of voluntary avoidance behaviour and policy-mediated behaviour change on the dynamics of sARs-CoV-2:A mathematical model

Background Throughout the sARs-CoV-2 pandemic,policymakers have had to navigate between recommending voluntary behaviour change and policy-driven behaviour change to mitigate the impact of the *** individuals will voluntarily engage in self-protective behaviour when there is an increasing infectious disease risk,the extent to which this occurs and its impact on an epidemic is not *** This paper describes a deterministic disease transmission model exploring the impact of individual avoidance behaviour and policy-mediated avoidance behaviour on epidemic outcomes during the second wave of sARs-CoV-2 infections in ontario,canada(september 1,2020 to February 28,2021).The model incorporates an information feedback function based on empirically derived behaviour data describing the degree to which avoidance behaviour changed in response to the number of new daily cases *** Voluntary avoidance behaviour alone was estimated to reduce the final attack rate by 23.1%,the total number of hospitalizations by 26.2%,and cumulative deaths by 27.5%over 6 months compared to a counterfactual scenario in which there were no interventions or avoidance behaviour.A provincial shutdown order issued on December 26,2020 was estimated to reduce the final attack rate by 66.7%,the total number of hospitalizations by 66.8%,and the total number of deaths by 67.2%compared to the counterfactual *** Given the dynamics of sARs-CoV-2 in a pre-vaccine era,individual avoidance behaviour in the absence of government action would have resulted in a moderate reduction in disease however,it would not have been sufficient to entirely mitigate transmission and the associated risk to the population in *** action during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in ontario reduced infections,protected hospital capacity,and saved lives.

The angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor and receptor-associated proteins

The mechanisms of regulation, activation and signal transduction of the angiotensin II (Ang II) type 1 (AT1) receptor have been studied extensively in the decade after its cloning. The AT1 receptor is a major component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAs). It mediates the classical biological actions of Ang II. Among the structures required for regulation and activation of the receptor, its carboxyl- terminal region plays crucial roles in receptor internalization, desensitization and phosphorylation. The mechanisms involved in heterotrimeric G-protein coupling to the receptor, activation of the downstream signaling pathway by G proteins and the Ang II signal transduction pathways leading to specific cellular responses are discussed. In addition, recent work on the identification and characterization of novel proteins associated with carboxy1-terminus of the AT1 receptor is presented. These novel proteins will advance our understanding of how the receptor is internalized and recycled as they provide molecular mechanisms for the activation and regulation of G-protein-coupled receptors.

An Efficient long short-TermMemory and Gated Recurrent Unit Based smart Vessel Trajectory Prediction Using Automatic Identification system Data

Maritime transportation, a cornerstone of global trade, faces increasing safety challenges due to growing sea traffic volumes. This study proposes a novel approach to vessel trajectory prediction utilizing Automatic Identification system (AIs) data and advanced deep learning models, including long short-Term Memory (lsTM), Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), Bidirectional lsTM (DBlsTM), simple Recurrent neural network (simpleRnn), and kalman Filtering. The research implemented rigorous AIs data preprocessing, encompassing record deduplication, noise elimination, stationary simplification, and removal of insignificant trajectories. Models were trained using key navigational parameters: latitude, longitude, speed, and heading. spatiotemporal aware processing through trajectory segmentation and topological data analysis (TDA)was employed to capture dynamic *** using a three-month AIs dataset demonstrated significant improvements in prediction accuracy. The GRU model exhibited superior performance, achieving training losses of 0.0020 (Mean squared Error, MsE) and 0.0334 (Mean Absolute Error, MAE), with validation losses of 0.0708 (MsE) and 0.1720 (MAE). The lsTM model showed comparable efficacy, with training losses of 0.0011 (MsE) and 0.0258 (MAE), and validation losses of 0.2290 (MsE) and 0.2652 (MAE). Both models demonstrated reductions in training and validation losses, measured by MAE, MsE, Average Displacement Error (ADE), and Final Displacement Error (FDE). This research underscores the potential of advanced deep learning models in enhancing maritime safety through more accurate trajectory predictions, contributing significantly to the development of robust, intelligent navigation systems for the maritime industry. © 2024 The Authors. The increasing anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases(GHG)is encouraging extensive research in CO_(2)*** reforming of methane(DRM)depicts a viable strategy to convert both CO_(2)and CH4into syngas,a worthwhile chemical *** the different active phases for DRM,the use of nickel as catalyst is economically favourable,but typically deactivates due to sintering and carbon *** stabilisation of ni at different loadings in cerium zirconate inorganic complex structures is investigated in this work as strategy to develop robust ni-based DRM *** and TPR-H2analyses confirmed the existence of different phases according to the ni loading in these ***,superficial ni is observed as well as the existence of a CeniO_(3)perovskite *** catalytic activity was tested,proving that 10 wt.%ni loading is the optimum which maximises *** catalyst was also tested in long-term stability experiments at 600and 800℃in order to study the potential deactivation issues at two different *** 600℃,carbon formation is the main cause of catalytic deactivation,whereas a robust stability is shown at 800℃,observing no sintering of the active phase evidencing the success of this strategy rendering a new family of economically appealing CO_(2)and biogas mixtures upgrading catalysts.

Interfacial Microstructure and Properties of Ti(C, n)/ni Bonded by Transient liquid-phase Diffusion

Effects of the main process parameters（temperature and time） on microstructure and properties of Ti（C, n）/ni interface bonded by （Cu＋nb） interlayer in a vacuum diffusion bonding device were investigated. The interfacial microstructures consisted initially of ni3nb metallic compound and eutectic of ni3nb ＋ Cuniss, and finally transformed to （Ti, nb）（C, n）＋ni3nb near Ti （C, n） and niCuss ＋ ni3nb near ni when diffusion bonding temperature was 1 523-1 573 k. It was clear that Cu was a constituent in the transient liquid phase （TlP） into which ni was dissolved by forming Cu-ni transition liquid. nb was dissolved in Cu-ni transition liquid rapidly. Ti （C, n） conld be wetted by resultant ni-nb-Cu transient liquid phase which was followed by a little （Ti, nb）（C, n） solid solution formed at interface. This increased the interface combining capability. Ultimately the interface shear strength was able to reach 140 MPa. The theoretle analysis and experimental results show that the growth of interfacial reaction layer ni3nb accords with parabola law, and the activation energy of diffusion reaction is 115.0±0.5 kJ/mol, while the diffusion reaction speed constant is 12.53 mm/s^1/2.

The dynamic mechanical properties of reactive powder concrete subjected to compressive impacts with high strain rates ranging from 10 to 1.1×102 s-1 were investigated by means of sHPB (split-Hopkinson-pressure-bar) tests of the cylindrical specimens with five different steel fiber volumetric *** properties of wave stress transmission,failure,strength,and energy consumption of RPC with varied fiber volumes and impact strain rates were *** influences of impact strain rates and fiber volumes on those properties were characterized as *** general forms of the dynamic stress-strain relationships of RPC were modeled based on the experimental *** investigations indicate that for the plain RPC the stress response is greater than the strain response,showing strong brittle *** RPC with a certain volume of fibers sustains higher strain rate impact and exhibits better deformability as compared with the plain *** a constant fiber fraction,the peak compressive strength,corresponding peak strain and the residual strain of the fiber-reinforced RPC rise by varying amounts when the impact strain rate increases,with the residual strain demonstrating the greatest *** the fiber content makes trivial contribution to improving the residual deformability of RPC when the impact strain rate is *** tests also show that the fiber content affects the peak compressive strength and the peak deformability of RPC in a different *** a constant impact strain rate and the fiber fraction less than 1.75%,the peak compressive strength rises with an increasing fiber *** peak compressive strength tends to decrease as the fiber volume exceeds 1.75%.The corresponding peak strain,however,incessantly rises with the increasing fiber *** total energy Edisp that RPC consumed during the period from the beginning of impacts to the time of residual strains elevates with the fiber volume increment as long as the fiber fraction

Circadian expression of clock genes and angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptors in suprachiasmatic nuclei of sinoaortic-denervated rats

Aim:To investigate whether the circadian expression of central clock genes andangiotensin Ⅱ type 1 (AT1) receptors was altered in sinoaortic-denervated (sAD)***:Male sprague-Dawley rats underwent sinoaortic denervation or asham operation at the age of 12 *** weeks after the operation,bloodpressure and heart period were measured in the conscious state in a group ofsham-operated (n=10) and sAD rats (n=9).Rest sAD and sham-operated ratswere divided into 6 groups (n=6 in each group).The suprachiasmatic nuclei (sCn)tissues were taken every 4 h throughout the day from each group for the determi-nation of the mRnA expression of clock genes (Per2 and Bmal1) and the AT1receptor by RT-PCR;the protein expression of Per2 and Bmal1 was determined byWestern ***:Blood pressure levels in the sAD rats were similar tothose of the sham-operated ***,blood pressure variabilities signifi-cantly increased in the sAD rats compared with the sham-operated *** variation of clock genes in the sCn of the sham-operated rats was char-acterized by a marked increase in the mRnA and protein expression during ***2 and Bmal1 mRnA levels were significantly lower in the sAD rats,especially during dark *** blot analysis confirmed an attenuation ofthe circadian rhythm of the 2 clock proteins in the sCn of the sAD ***1receptor mRnA expressions in the sCn were abnormally upregulated in the lightphase,changed to a 12-h cycle in the sAD ***:The circadian varia-tion of the 2 central clock genes was attenuated in the sAD *** baroreflexdysfunction also induced a disturbance in the expression of AT1 receptors in thesCn.
