Correlation between expectations of recovery and injury severity perception in whiplash-associated disorders

Objective:To assess the correlation between expectations of recovery and whiplash patients' perceptions of injury severity using a simplified *** of recovery have been shown to predict rate of recovery from whiplash injury in population-based *** perception of having more severe pathology or more ominous diagnostic labels has also been associated with a worse ***:Consecutive patients with whiplash-associated disorder grade 1 or 2,presenting in the acute stage to a primary care centre,were asked "do you think that your injury will…" with response options "get better soon;get better slowly;never get better;don't know." Injury severity perception (ISP) was measured with a numerical rating scale which ranged from 0-10,on which subjects were asked to rate how severe (in terms of damage) they thought their injury *** anchors were labeled "no damage" (0) and "severe,and maybe permanent damage" (10).The primary outcome measure was the correlation between the subject's ISP score and expectation of ***:A total of 94 subjects (34 males,60 females,and mean age (40.6±10.0) years,range 19-60 years) were *** initial responses to expectation of recovery were:get better soon (29/94);get better slowly (22/94);never get better (11/94);don't know (32/94).The mean ISP score was 4.9±1.7 (range 2-9 out of 10).There was a high correlation between expectations and ISP scores (Spearman's rank correlation coefficient 0.68).Those who expected to recover soon and those who expected to get better slowly had the lowest ISP ***:The more slowly whiplash patients expect to recover,or the less sure they are of recovery,the more severe their initial perceptions of injury.

Background and objective:Expectations and beliefs are important predictors of outcome following minor head *** this paper,the primary purpose is to develop a simple symptom expectation questionnaire for minor head injury for use in future research ***:An existing database of 179 injury-naive subjects who completed a 56-item checklist of expected symptoms for minor head injury was analyzed to determine which items could correctly identify an a priori case definition of an expecter (a subject who expected at least one of these symptoms would remain chronic following minor head injury).A total of six of the 56 items were found to be discriminatory,and these were tested in additional subject groups against the original ***:From the original database of 179 subjects completing a 56-item symptom expectation checklist,135 expected that at least one of the 56 symptoms would be chronic following minor head *** 135 expecters,however,all chose at least one of six items:headache,anxious or worried,depressed,difficulty concentrating,dizziness,and neck *** these six items,in two new groups of subjects,all those who endorsed one of the 56 symptoms as likely to be chronic following minor head injury (expecters) could also be identified on the 6-item ***:A shortened (6-item) symptom expectation checklist of commonly reported symptoms following minor head injury (headache,anxious or worried,depressed,difficulty concentrating,dizziness,and neck pain) correctly identifies subjects who expect that at least one symptom will be chronic following minor head injury (i.e.,an expecter).

Methods:An existing database of 179 injury-naive subjects who completed a 56-item checklist of expected symptoms for whiplash injury was analyzed to determine which items could correctly identify an a priori case definition of an expecter(a subject who expected at least one of these symptoms would remain chronic following whiplash injury).A total of seven of the 56 items were found to be *** identified, discriminatory items were then tested in additional subject groups against the original questionnaire. Results:From the original database of 179 subjects completing a 56-item symptom expectation checklist,119 expected at least one of the 56 symptoms would be chronic following whiplash *** 119 ***,all chose at least one of seven items:headache,anxious or worried,depressed,neck pain,problems sleeping,back pain,or jaw *** these seven items,in two new groups of subjects given the 56- item symptom expectation checklist and then a new shortened(7-item) symptom expectation checklist one week later(and the same done for another group of 100 subjects in reverse order),all those who endorsed one of the 56 symptoms as likely to be chronic following whiplash injury (expecters) could also be identified on the 7-item checklist. This paper presents the views of 623 informal and formal small,medium,and micro enterprises(SMMEs)operating in the Gauteng Province of South *** objective of the study was to identify challenges and benefits that are experienced by SMMEs during and after the registration process leading to the transition from informal to formal business,the level of awareness by the SMMEs of the registration information,and the procedures in addition to the potential factors that inspire or discourage informal and prospective business *** reason for including both informal and formal SMMEs in the survey was to compare the perceptions of these groups of businesses regarding the triggers and/or barriers to register as a formal *** results show that for both informal and formal businesses,the liability of paying taxes was a major challenge while improved workers’health and safety accrued as a major *** research emerged as the main source of access to business registration information and *** costs involved in registration were highlighted as one of the major factors discouraging registration but the prospects of expanding the customer base and the ability to achieve a higher turnover as some of the main inspiring *** study recommends the development of policies that provide an enabling environment for sustainable enterprises but also to implement measures that improve productivity through access to finance,skills,infrastructure,markets,and technology transfers.

Cyanobacteria are gram-negative photosynthetic bacteria capable of producing toxins responsible for morbidity and mortality in humans and domestic animals. They are capable of forming concentrated blooms, referred to as harmful algal blooms (HABs). Characterization of HABs is necessary to reduce risks from human and animal exposures to toxins. Current methods used to classify cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins have limitations related to time, analyst skills, and cost. Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is a potential tool for rapid, robust cyanobacterial classification that is not limited by these factors. To examine the practicality of this method, library screening with default software algorithms was performed on HAB samples, followed by principle component cluster analyses and dendrogram analysis of samples meeting minimum quality requirements. Two tested spectrometers and software packages were successful at distinguishing cyanobacteria from green algae. Principle component cluster analysis and dendrogram analysis also resulted in clear differentiation between cyanobacteria and green algae. While these methods cannot be used independently to fully characterize HABs, they show the potential and practicality of FTIR as a screening tool.

目前,针对超高水充填、膏体充填、胶结充填和固体充填已经做了大量的实验和应用。本论文主要研究充填采煤矿压显现基本规律。固体充填开采是指将煤矸石、矸石、粉煤灰等固体废弃物用于充填采空区的采矿方法,其实质是在采矿过程中利用充填体提供围岩支撑力,来提供安全开采回填的空间。固体充填采矿技术可以避免许多事故的发生,包括开采过程中引起的地表沉陷、火灾和爆炸以及可以解放“三下”压煤(建筑物下、铁路下和水体下)、改善矿井通风效果和提高围岩的稳定性,并且能保证经济和环境协调发展。在中国,每个矿井都会面临“三下”压煤的难题,所以这一问题的解决显得尤为重要。矿压显现规律研究是基础。由于其各种技术、经济和环境的影响,固体充填开采也是管理矿山废弃物方面的重要手段,它提供了一种提高采矿效率的解决方案。固体充填采矿技术已经成为煤矿开采的一个重要手段,对地表沉陷的有效控制使这项技术在中国乃至世界范围内得到了广泛的应用。本论文主要通过对比研究综采机械化固体充填开采和传统的综采地表沉陷规律,掌握固体充填采矿技术对岩层控制的科学认识。翟镇煤矿7203W充填采煤工作面是一个固体充填开采的成功案例,工作面煤层快速开采之后,采空区固体充填体会引起顶底板垂直应力和垂直位移发生变化,导致异于传统综采面的矿压显现。通过数值模拟和现场监测,得到7203W固体充填采煤工作面的矿压显现规律。因此,本研究将为中国矿业大学和马达加斯加在采矿工程和岩土工程方面的科研合作和工程实践提供参考。想要达到上述研究目的,必须通过严谨的计划方案,往往实现计划目标的第一步是查阅参考文献了解所研究的方向。基于翟镇煤矿工程地质条件,尤其是7203W充填采矿工作面开采后对地表产生的变化规律进行研究,并分析固体充填采矿技术对地表沉陷控制的技术分析。本文主要研究内容如下:第一章提出文章整体介绍,主要包括研究背景、研究的意义、研究的目的、问题陈述、国内外文献综述和研究的技术路线等;第二章提出了岩层的移动特点和固体充填采煤岩层控制情况,对目前固体充填采矿技术在岩层移动特征主要因素及其控制方面进行总结;第三章详细介绍了翟镇煤矿现场条件和固体充填采矿技术在翟镇煤矿的现场实践情况;第四章通过数值模拟表明岩层移动规律,基于煤岩体的力学参数,利用Flac3D软件对7203W充填采煤工作面进行数值模拟,并根据翟镇煤矿的矿山地质条件分析了垂直应力和垂直位移在不同阶段的分布情况;第五章通过监测翟镇煤矿的原岩应力分析了实际矿山地质条件下的岩层移动规律,最后一章为结论和建议。采煤过程中的推进速度、顶板下沉引起的不同岩体结构、岩体物理力学性质、采场形状和尺寸、开采深度等因素都影响着岩层移动和顶板下沉规律,但想要获得这些问题的解决方案是比较困难的。因此,采用数值模拟以近似的方法来解决这些问题。目前,数值模拟广泛应用于各种工程中,尤其是在岩土工程中的应用解决了岩土问题的复杂不可预测性等问题。根据矿山地质条件及与7203W充填采煤工作面相关的地质力学参数,采用数值模拟方法,使用Flac3D软件模拟充填开采的推进速度对岩层运动的影响。同时,数值模拟离不开现场实测的验证。因此,通过现场测量建立岩层移动规律,即借助于电子仪器对岩层进行监测。研究技术路线的第一阶段是数据收集和分析;第二阶段是建立数值模拟模型,通过结果分析更好地了解引起岩层运动规律的主要因素和岩层变形特征;第三阶段是基于现场监测,通过分析监测结果得出不同推进速度下的岩层移动规律特征;最后一个阶段是总结充填开采矿压显现规律的提炼。在保证长壁开采工作人员的安全方面,井下顶板和工作面的岩层控制至关重要。为了使作业安全,使煤炭开采成为可能,岩层控制涉及系统的适应性,我们可以通过这个系统对岩层运动进行控制。固体充填采矿技术适用于“三下”煤层开采,有利于对地表建筑物和其他设施的保护,因此可以安全地对铁路下、水体下和建筑物下煤炭进行开采,同时解决矿区倾倒地表的煤矸石和煤电厂的粉煤灰存放问题,改善了矿区环境。固体充填采矿技术是把采矿和充填结合起来,该技术已在“三下”条件下成功的开采了煤炭资源,所以充填开采在控制岩层移动和控制地表沉陷方面具有很好的优势。与传统综采工作面有所区别的是固体充填采矿技术的主要设备有:(1)自移式带式输送机,确保固体充填物料从运输皮带上输送到充填刮板输送机上;(2)充填式液压支架,主要保证综采固体充填工作面连续生产,是综采固体充填开采的主要设备。夯实机构将从充填刮板输送机投放的固体材料推入采空区并压实,使充填体接触到直接顶以控制围岩;(3)充填刮板输送机,具有刮板输送机输送固体物料的功能,以及在一定时间内把所需的物料卸入到采空区内。固体充填开采的覆岩移动特征不同于垮落法开采,其主要特征是:下沉和破裂。均匀充填后统一沉降是充填采煤上覆岩层最常见的现象,但在垮落法开采中却不能见到。该
