Late clinical characteristics of infants with retinopathy of prematurity and treated with cryotherapy

AIM： To describe the clinical characteristics and late results of patients with retinopathy of prematurity（ROP）treated with ＂6h cryotherapy＂.·METHODS： Out of 1252 infants screened for ROP, 52 patients were treated with temporal 6h cryotherapy from1997 to 2005 were recalled to our clinic. Among these 23 patients were available and 46 eyes of 23 infants were included to evaluate for visual acuity, refractive error,ocular alignment, nystagmus, retinal examination（abnormal branching of retinal vessels, retinal thinning,latis degenerations, tortuosity of vessels, straightening of temporal vessels, narrowing of the angle of vessel in the juxtapapillary entrance, pigment changes, macular heterotopia）, optic atrophy and optic disc cupping, axial length at birth and axial length at 1y.·RESULTS： The median age at examination was 7（5-18）*** 32.6% of patients, the visual acuity was ≤20/200 and the mean best corrected visual acuity was 20/35 as measured with a Snellen chart. Mean spherical refractive error was-1.76±2.69 D. The degree of myopia at the last examination was found to be correlated with the elongation of the eye in the first year of life. Exotropia was present in 17.4%（n =8） of infants and esotropia in13%（n =6）. The most common retinal abnormality was abnormal branching of retinal vessels（82.6%） followed by retinal thinning（52.2%）.·CONCLUSION： The late clinical outcomes of infants with ROP treated in our clinic with cryotherapy seems to comparable with results of laser treatment.

Image denoising,one of the essential inverse problems,targets to remove noise/artifacts from input *** general,digital image denoising algorithms,executed on computers,present latency due to several iterations implemented in,e.g.,graphics processing units(GPUs).While deep learning-enabled methods can operate non-iteratively,they also introduce latency and impose a significant computational burden,leading to increased power ***,we introduce an analog diffractive image denoiser to all-optically and non-iteratively clean various forms of noise and artifacts from input images–implemented at the speed of light propagation within a thin diffractive visual processor that axially spans<250×λ,whereλis the wavelength of *** all-optical image denoiser comprises passive transmissive layers optimized using deep learning to physically scatter the optical modes that represent various noise features,causing them to miss the output image Field-of-View(FoV)while retaining the object features of *** results show that these diffractive denoisers can efficiently remove salt and pepper noise and image rendering-related spatial artifacts from input phase or intensity images while achieving an output power efficiency of~30–40%.We experimentally demonstrated the effectiveness of this analog denoiser architecture using a 3D-printed diffractive visual processor operating at the terahertz *** to their speed,power-efficiency,and minimal computational overhead,all-optical diffractive denoisers can be transformative for various image display and projection systems,including,e.g.,holographic displays.

This article examines Block A,the first block-style building in Heybeliada Sanatorium in *** purpose of this research is to understand its architectural and spatial development and discuss how in fact it was a“prototype”of Turkish *** with a three-step methodology(documentation/evaluation/results)this research conducts architectural and spatial analysis on Block *** sources like architectural documentation and restitution drawings,the writings of the institution’s head doctor Tevfik Ismail Gökçe,periodicals on tuberculosis(TB),as well as pertinent literature are *** findings demonstrate that Block A’s development(1924—1945)was the result of knowledge transfer that introduced the universal sanatorium design principles,spatial experiments,adaptation to sociocultural norms,and trial-and-error *** only it had a major impact on shaping of the second block-type building in the complex,the“model”Block B,but it also became exemplary of the subsequent Turkish *** originality of this article is its exploration of the changing and evolving Block A in its resonation with the cultural tensions of Turkey’s modernization *** was established via the assessment of budgetary issues,medical developments and climatic experiments,the social issue of scarcity of TB beds in the country,spatial practices to separate the sexes as reflections of local traditions and culture in the shaping of spaces.

采用光化学反应研究了铜渣中Cu和Fe的溶解行为。实验采用石英玻璃夹套,在玻璃反应釜中间歇进行,在反应釜下埋入紫外线灯,并采用玻璃管作为送风装置。研究了不同波长UVA(365 nm)、UVB(311 nm)、UVC(254 nm)和真空UV光(185 nm)在浸出液中的行为。所有实验在相同条件下,在有和没有紫外线灯的情况下进行比较。研究了自由基形成机制对浸出环境的适应性及其在氧化溶液介质浸出中的可用性。在紫外光(185 nm)和非紫外光条件下,铜的提取率分别为85.1%和70.7%。综上所述,在紫外(185 nm)光反应器体系中,铜渣在最佳条件下的金属溶解率比无紫外光反应器体系效率更高。光化学反应器是使其适应湿法冶金应用和检验工艺的新途径。

All-optical synthesis of an arbitrary linear transformation using diffractive surfaces

Spatially-engineered diffractive surfaces have emerged as a powerful framework to control light-matter interactions for statistical inference and the design of task-specific optical ***,we report the design of diffractive surfaces to all-optically perform arbitrary complex-valued linear transformations between an input(Ni)and output(No),where Ni and No represent the number of pixels at the input and output fields-of-view(FOVs),***,we consider a single diffractive surface and use a matrix pseudoinverse-based method to determine the complex-valued transmission coefficients of the diffractive features/neurons to all-optically perform a desired/target linear *** addition to this data-free design approach,we also consider a deep learning-based design method to optimize the transmission coefficients of diffractive surfaces by using examples of input/output fields corresponding to the target *** compared the all-optical transformation errors and diffraction efficiencies achieved using data-free designs as well as data-driven(deep learning-based)diffractive designs to all-optically perform(i)arbitrarily-chosen complex-valued transformations including unitary,nonunitary,and noninvertible transforms,(ii)2D discrete Fourier transformation,(iii)arbitrary 2D permutation operations,and(iv)high-pass filtered coherent *** analyses reveal that if the total number(N)of spatially-engineered diffractive features/neurons is≥Ni×No,both design methods succeed in all-optical implementation of the target transformation,achieving negligible ***,compared to data-free designs,deep learning-based diffractive designs are found to achieve significantly larger diffraction efficiencies for a given N and their all-optical transformations are more accurate for N

The precise engineering of materials and surfaces has been at the heart of some of the recent advances in optics and *** advances related to the engineering of materials with new functionalities have also opened up exciting avenues for designing trainable surfaces that can perform computation and machine-learning tasks through light-matter interactions and ***,we analyze the information-processing capacity of coherent optical networks formed by diffractive surfaces that are trained to perform an all-optical computational task between a given input and output *** show that the dimensionality of the all-optical solution space covering the complex-valued transformations between the input and output fields-of-view is linearly proportional to the number of diffractive surfaces within the optical network,up to a limit that is dictated by the extent of the input and output *** diffractive networks that are composed of larger numbers of trainable surfaces can cover a higher-dimensional subspace of the complex-valued linear transformations between a larger input field-of-view and a larger output field-of-view and exhibit depth advantages in terms of their statistical inference,learning,and generalization capabilities for different image classification tasks when compared with a single trainable diffractive *** analyses and conclusions are broadly applicable to various forms of diffractive surfaces,including,e.g.,plasmomc and/or dielectric-based metasurfaces and flat optics,which can be used to form all-optical processors.
