Introduction: Cardiovascular disease represents a major public health burden worldwide. Research and management of risk factors contribute to the prevention of these diseases. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of dyslipidemia in the biochemistry unit of the Charles De Gaulle Pediatric University Hospital (CHUP-CDG) in Ouagadougou. Material and Methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study, with retrospective data collection from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022. Patients of all ages who performed a lipid panel in the CHUP-CDG biochemistry unit during the study period have been included. Results: A total of 2872 patients have been included. The mean age of the study population was 27.72 ± 19.51 years and the M/F sex ratio was 0.81. Among the patients, 22.84% had at least one dyslipidemia. The prevalences of hypercholesterolemia, hypo-HDL cholesterolemia and hyper-LDL cholesterolemia were 11.57%, 49.19% and 57.50% respectively. Hypertriglyceridemia and mixed hyperlipidemia were present in 9.04% and 2.08% of patients. Hypercholesterolemia was significantly more frequent in the female sex (p = 0.0077);hyper-LDL cholesterolemia (p = 0.0255) and mixed hyperlipidemia (p Conclusion: The relatively high prevalence of dyslipidemia in the study indicates a worrying situation. It would therefore appear essential to extend the search for risk factors nationwide, particularly those that can be modified, in order to reduce morbidity and mortality linked to cardiovascular disease.

Acousto-optically driven lensless single-shot ultrafast optical imaging

Driven by many applications in a wide span of scientifc fields,a myriad of advanced ultrafast imaging techniques have emerged in the last decade,featuring record-high imaging speeds above a trllion-frame-per-second with long sequence *** bringing remarkable insights into various ultrafast phenomena,their application out of a laboratory environment is however limited in most cases,either by the cost,complexity of the operation or by heavy data *** then report a versatile single-shot imaging technique combining sequentially timed lloptical mapping photography(STAMP)with acousto-optics programmable dispersive fhItering(AOPDF)and digital in-line holography(DIH).On the one hand,a high degree of simplicity is reached through the AOPDF,which enables full control over the acquisition parameters via an electrically driven phase and amplitude spectro-temporal tailoring of the imaging ***,contrary to most single-shot techniques,the frame rate,exposure time,and frame intensities can be independently adjusted in a wide range of pulse durations and chirp values without resorting to complex shaping stages,making the system remarkably agile and *** the other hand,the use of DIH,which does not require any reference beam,allows to achieve an even higher technical simplicity by allowing its lensless operation but also for reconstructing the object on a wide depth of field,contrary to classical techniques that only provide images in a single *** imaging speed of the system as well as its flexibility are demonstrated by visualizing ultrashort events on both the picosecond and nanosecond *** virtues and limitations as welll as the potential improvements of this on-demand ultrafast imaging method are critically discussed.

近来的研究表明,由于围术期神经肌肉阻滞管理不当,肌肉松弛药(肌松药)残留阻滞及其术后并发症的发生率居高不下。需要重视神经肌肉功能监测仪、肌松药及其拮抗剂的合理应用,以利于改善神经肌肉阻滞管理。欧洲麻醉和重症监护学会(European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care,ESAIC)首次发布围术期神经肌肉阻滞管理临床指南,旨在为临床医生提供最佳医疗管理的循证建议,以提高围术期患者安全。本指南主要聚焦在3个临床问题:肌松药是否有助于成人气管插管?神经肌肉阻滞深度是否影响腹部手术患者的预后?肌松药残留阻滞的诊断和治疗策略有哪些?根据PICO原则(患者、干预、对照、结局;patient,intervention,comparator,outcome;PICO)构建临床问题并进行文献检索。初始纳入的临床研究为24 000篇,采用逐步筛选策略,最终临床研究88篇纳入指南分析。应用GRADE方法学(Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development and Evaluation,GRADE)对结局指标证据、质量等级进行评价。运用两轮德尔菲法收集专家组建议并形成统一推荐:R1推荐应用肌松药辅助气管插管(1A)。R2推荐应用肌松药以减少气管插管导致的咽部和(或)喉部损伤(1C)。R3推荐在快速顺序诱导插管(rapid sequence induction intubation,RSII)时使用短效肌松药,例如琥珀胆碱1 mg/kg或罗库溴铵0.9~1.2 mg/kg(1B)。R4推荐在需要改善外科手术条件时,加深神经肌肉阻滞深度(1B)。R5尚无足够的证据推荐深度神经肌肉阻滞可减轻术后疼痛或降低围术期并发症的发生率(2C)。R6推荐在拇内收肌处刺激尺神经,定量监测神经肌肉阻滞深度以排除肌松药残留阻滞(1B)。R7推荐应用舒更葡糖钠逆转甾体类肌松药(罗库溴铵、维库溴铵)诱导的深、中及浅度神经肌肉阻滞(1A)。R8推荐在使用新斯的明前,TOFr自行恢复至>0.2,并继续定量监测神经肌肉功能,直至TOFr超过0.9(1C)。

More constructions of APN and differentially 4-uniform functions by concatenation

We study further the method of concatenating the outputs of two functions for designing an APN or a differentially 4-uniform (n, n)-function for every even n. We deduce several specific constructions of APN or differentially 4-uniform (n, n)-functions from APN and differentially 4-uniform (n/2, n/2)-functions. We also give a construction of quadratic APN functions which includes as particular cases a previous construction by the author and a more recent construction by Pott and Zhou.

Development of a Fast and Facile Analytical Approach to Quantify Radiometabolites in Human Plasma Samples Using Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Introduction: Conventional metabolite analyses often require manual sample preparation, generating variability of measurements. This study describes a new method to quantify radiometabolites in blood, combining ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) and turbulent flow chromatography, an alternative fully automated process allowing analyte’s extraction. Methods: A new radiotracer for dopamine transporter imaging, namely LBT-999, was used to demonstrate the method’s robustness. Matrix effect, Turboflow column loading, linearity, specificity and precision were evaluated with in vitro samples of LBT-999 in human plasma. Radiodetector sensitivity and preliminary evaluation were respectively determined by analysis of calibrated samples of [18F]LBT-999 and blood samples from 4 healthy subjects injected with [18F]LBT-999, withdrawn at 5, 15, 30 and 45 min pi. Results: With three sequential loadings (3 × 100 μL) of the Turboflow column, mean coefficients of variation were 1%, below 2%, 2% and 30.9% for matrix effect, specificity, repeatability and intermediate precision, respectively. Correlation coefficients for linearity were superior to 0.97. Limits of detection and quantification of the radiodetector were fixed at 3 and 9 c/s. Retention times for [18F]LBT-999 and the two radiometabolites detected by radio-UHPLC were 6.5, 4.8 and 9.6 min. Forty-five min after the injection, parent fraction was still predominant with 57.8% ± 25% of the total radioactivity. Conclusions: An innovative approach, allying UHPLC and Turboflow column, was developed and its sensitivity, linearity, specificity and repeatability validated. Preliminary results of the clinical trial are in accordance with literature data, demonstrating its efficiency in radiometabolites quantification.

Double ischemic ileal stenosis secondary to mesenteric injury after blunt abdominal trauma

The authors describe a rare case in which blunt abdominal trauma resulted in mesenteric injury with delayed double ischemic ileal stenosis. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated stenotic ileal loop with mural thickening. At surgery, a double stenotic bowel loop was found adjacent to a healed defect in the mesentery. Histological examination of the two resected segments showed fibrotic and ischemic lesions within the mesentery. Ischemic intestinal stenosis from mesenteric injury should be considered in the differential diagnosis in patients suffering from intestinal occlusion with a history of blunt abdominal ***.

Endovascular Repair of an Infected Broken Pseudoaneurysm of the Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery

The formation of pseudoaneurysms after carotid endarterectomy is extremely rare. Treating those pseudoaneuryms is necessary because of the risks for continued expansion, rupture and distal embolism. Traditional surgical repair of carotid artery pseudoaneurysms is associated with a high morbidity and mortality. An endovascular approach to these infected pseudoaneurysms limits the risk for operative damage to surrounding structures and potential blood loss.

Influence of Exogenous Auxins on Phenolic Compounds Contents and Polyphenol oxidasic and Peroxidasic Activities in Root Differentiation in <i>Gnetum</i>spp.

Root failure is a key limiting factor in Gnetum spp. domestication and production of plants materials for farming. To overcome, root failure in Gnetum spp. may depend on adequate strategies set up and understanding of biochemical markers controlling the rooting process. The present work is principally based on phenolic compounds contents, peroxidasic and polyphenol oxidasic activities during rooting of cuttings (pretreated with IBA, ANA and IAA) at induction, initiation and expression phases of roots formation in Gnetum africanum Welw. and G. buchholzianum Engl. The study revealed that cuttings pretreated with IBA (150 mg/l) were more effective than IAA and NAA. Phenolic compounds analysis revealed that cuttings pretreated with IBA exhibited high phenolic compound contents at initiation and expression phases for both Gnetum species. Indicating that IBA pretreatment promotes phenolic compounds synthesis and accumulation necessary for roots differentiation. Enzyme contents appear to be high during the initiation stage for both species when they are pretreated with IBA (150 mg/l). Peroxidasic and Polyphenol oxidasic activities evolved on the synchroneous maner. This allows us to know that the implication of these enzymes in the rooting process is fundamental makers.

The overall objective of this study was to assess the health risk of water in the Loutété River contaminated with heavy metals. Six surface water samples were collected during the dry season (October 2014). The physico-chemical parameters (pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved salts) were measured using a HANNA brand device. The values of these physico-chemical parameters are below the WHO standards. The concentrations of heavy metals Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb, Zn and Mn were determined by ICP-OES. These obtained in (μg/L) are in the range: Cr (0.08 - 5.8);Cu (0.6 - 14.5);Fe (0.2 - 386.05);Pb (1.02 - 370.09);Zn (8.02 - 248.7) and Mn (37.1 - 328.08). These concentrations are below the WHO drinking water guideline value in all samples for Cr, Cu, Mn and Zn, 50, 2000, 400 and 3000 μg/L respectively. Concentrations of As, Fe and Pb exceeded the WHO guideline value for drinking water at the following stations: S1 for arsenic, S4 for iron, and for Pb at all stations except S5. The health risk assessment for adults due to ingestion exposure gave HQing. values 1 for lead. In the case of ingestion, HQing. < 1 for the heavy metals Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn, with the exception of the following metals Arsenic, Lead and Iron.
