The eastern Hebei Province of china is one of the major concentrating areas of gold mineralization in eastern china, which is an important part of the circum Pacific magmatic tectonic metallogenic belt. There are three types of gold deposits in terms of the characteristics of host rocks. Jinchangyu type gold deposit is situated in the Archean metamorphic basement. Yuerya type gold deposit occurs within the Yanshanian granite. Lengkou (or Wanzhuang ) type gold deposit is located within the covering strata of the Mesoproterozoic dolomitite. These 3 types of gold deposits are very similar in many respects. These deposits formed at Mesozoic and their spatial distribution is closely related to Yanshanian granite. The mineralization characteristics of these gold deposits are very similar. The characteristics of sulfur isotopic and lead isotopic compositions show that the gold deposits in this area are derived from the mantle and deep crust, and are related to Mesozoic magmatism. The gold deposits in this area are believed to be the products of crust mantle exchange and resulted from multistage gold mineralization. Finally a mineralization model of gold deposit in eastern Hebei of china is proposed.

Yanshanian igneous rocks in the East china, on an orogenic belt scale, are characterized by the continental marginal arc in petrology and geochemistry as Andes and West USA, except for the Hercyn type biotite two mica muscovite granite belt in the Nanling region. Three segments of the Yanshanian igneous rocks along the belt are recognized. In terms of magma tectonic event sequence, the north, middle and south segments have counter clockwise (ccw), clockwise (cw) and ccw+cw pTt paths of the orogenic process, respectively. A genetic model of the lithospheric delamination (loss of the lithospheric root in about 120 km) in combination with the oceanic subduction for the Yanshanian Andes like orogenic belt and both the crust and lithosphere thickening for the Yanshanian Hercyn type Nanling orogenic belt in the East china is suggested.

The Ordovician marine volcanic rocks in the north Qilian mountains are discussed in this paper. According to geology, petrotectonic assemblage and geochemistry, a new model about plate tectonic evolution of the north Qilian mountains is set up. The Ordovician marine volcanic rocks in the north Qilian mountains which characterized by the geological features of tectonic melange of continent to continent collision underwent complicated tectonic movement, and can be classified into three main kinds of petrotectonic assemblages. During Ordovician period, north Qilian area was a polyisland ocean which consisted of three ocean basins separated by the middle microcontinental blocks.

This paper emphasizes that the interactive constraints of geology and isotopic dating is the best approach to construct the geological event sequence, and has compiled 106 data of reasonable isotopic ages for the igneous rocks of the Yanshan belt. We propose a sequence of mgmatic-tectonic events in the Jurassic-Cretaceous Yanshan orogen of North china. Five orogenic episodes are divided, (1) pre-and initial orogenic episode (Early Jurassic); (2) early orogenic episode (Middle Jurassic); (3) peak orogenic episode (Late Jurassic); (4) late orogenic episode (early Early Cretaceous), and (5) post-orogenic episode. Each episode is a short cycle, all of the orogenic processes construct a longer cycle, and they, in general, followed a counter-clockwise (ccw) PTt path. Finally, it is suggested that the Yanshanian movement was so intensive that the magmatism and tectonic deformation had involved all the lithosphere thickness and the late-Achaean-formed cratonic lithosphere had been significantly reworked.

This paper discusses generahon of muscovite/ two-mica granite and their genetic relations to intracontinental subduchon. The major constraints of the formation of muscovite granite,taking Higher Himalaya for an example, are demostrated from multiple-aspects of geology,petrology, geochemistry, experimental petrology and geophysics .We suggest that the magma generates in the Main Central Thrust (Mad ) (30-35km ), and has higher temperature of 750-800℃, H2O-undersatorated and large capability to be emplacement into the sedimentary covers to form real igneous intrusion, rather than generster at the base of the thickened continental crust and has lower temperature of 600-650 ℃, H2O-saturated and less capability of emplacement to form intrusion in silo/semi-situ. A reasonable model of thermal structure of the intracontinental subduction zone is presented. Combining the possible material of magma source and the experimental phase relatioedps, we demonstrate in detail that the main magma source of the muscovite granitc is the pelitic rocks at top of the subduedon slab at the adjacent region of the subduction end. In addition, the H2O-saturate and wear saturated granitic magmas are formed at the wedge comer of the overlying slab. A new conclusion is reached that the generation Of muscovite granite is a result of the intracontinental subduction, in other words,the development of muscovite granite is a main signature to recognize the indacontinental subduction zone.

This paper shows that the catastrophe of lithosphere asthenosphere system (LAS) is developed for the Yanshanian metallogenic belt in the East china. Two types of Yanshanian disturbed LAS and metallogenesis in the East china are recognized: great lithosphere thinning and thickening in the compressional orogenic environment, and the related Andes type and Hercyn type metallogenesis, respectively. Great amount of the juvenile and hot mantle materials and the reactivated hot lower crustal materials replaced, heated and injected into the cold lithosphere and crust are believed to be a fundamental source and a basic deep environment for the Yanshanian metallogenic explosion. Reactivated and active discontinuities on the lithosphere scale are considered to be the main ore storing space of the metallogenic zone. Large magma tectonic metallogenic system is necessary for the formation of large cluster area of ore deposit. The eastern china is believed to have large potential for prospecting of ore deposits in terms of the metallogenic environment.

Geochemical Features and Tectonic Settings of Upper Ordovician Marine Volcanic Rocks on North Margin of Qaidam

The geochemical and petrological features show that the Upper Ordovician marine volcanic rocks on north margin of Qaidam can be classified into three main kinds of petrotectonic assemblages. The three assemblages exhibit features of tectonic melange. And they indicate that there exists an ancient ocean basin on north margin of Qaidam during Late Ordovician period. At the last stage of Ordovician period, the ocean basin on north margin of Qaidam closed gradually, then Qaidam continental block subducted continually and Qilian continental block thrusted onto Qaidam continental block in the direction from north to south, formed the orogenic belt of continent to continent collision type. As a result, a three unit tectonic model is proposed. The three units are: the overlying Qilian crustal wedge, the collision tectonic melange belt on the north margin of Qaidam and the Qaidam underthrusted wedge.

Intracontinental Orogenic Igneous Rocks and Orogenic Processes in Qinghai-Xizang-Himalaya

Based on the discussion on the intracontinental orogenic igneous rocks formed after India-Asia collision (40 or 45 Ma),the intracontinental orogenic processes of Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet )-Himalaya are traced . Muscovite/two mica granite is considered as a petrological record of intracontinental subduction. Volcanic rocks of shoshonite series are believed to be the products of the orogenic and outside cratonic lithosphere convergence . The intracontinental orogenic igneous rocks are developed only on the margins of the orogenic belt. The pairing phe nomenon of the igneous rock zones is regarded as one of the best signs to recognize the special range of orogenic belt . The stage of magmatic activity is a representation and indicator of orogenic episode . Three pairs of the igneous events in Oligocene , Miocene and Pleistocene and their space distribution indicate three corresponding orogenic episodes and the horizontal expansion across the orogenic belt , respectively . On the northern and southern margins of the orogenic belt are always developed the volcanic eruption of the shoshonite series and the muscovite two mica granite intrusion ,indicating the different nature of the margins .In the former case the colder crust and hotter mantle . as well as the double crust resulted from the horizontal shortening are developed , and in the latter case the hotter crust and colder mantle , the double crust by the overlapping of two crusts are formed . During the Pleistocene orogenic episode the interior of the orogenic belt , i. e. the Gandise - Qiangtang might be going to the stage of the orogenic collapse . and the compressional orogeny might occur only at both the mar gins . The orogenic processes mentioned above show that beneath the Qinghai - Xizang (Tibet ) Himalaya,the deeper mantle has been always undergoing a descending convergence , rather than the simple orogeny resulted from the underthrusting of the India continent only . Cenozoic Volcanism in South china Sea and Its Vicinity and South china Sea Spreading

The rock series, rock types and Sr-Nd isotopic dating of the Cenozoicvolcanic rocks in the South china Sea are similar to those in its vicinity. On the basis of thespreading age of the South china Sea, the Cenozoic volcanic rocks are divided into three stages: thepre-spreading stage, the spreading stage and the post-spreading stage. The deep processcharacteristics of the asthenosphere and lithosphere may be inferred from the study on primarybasaltic magma. The top layers of the asthenosphere both in the spreading stage and in thepre-spreading stage are closer to the earth surface than that in the post-spreading stage. From thepre-spreading stage to the spreading stage, the top layer of the asthenosphere decreased in depth,while the amount of interstitial partial melts increased. The evolution of the primary basalticmagma shows a progressive evolution sequence of the rifting volcanism and a faster lithosphericspreading velocity. From the spreading stage to the post-spreading stage, the top layer of theasthenosphere gradually increased in depth, but the amount of interstitial partial melts *** evolution of primary basaltic magma shows a retrogressive evolution sequence of the riftingvolcanism and a gradual decrease in the lithospheric spreading velocity. The depth recognized by thestudy on the Cenozoic volcanism demonstrates the deep environment for the formation and evolutionof the South china Sea.
