Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） exhibit appreciable potential in the domain of electrochemical energy ***,there are serious challenges for AZIBs,for instance zinc dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution reaction （HER）,and corrosion side ***,we propose a surface engineering modification strategy for coating the montmorillonite （MMT） layer onto the surface of the Zn anode to tackle these issues,thereby achieving high cycling stability for rechargeable *** results reveal that the MMT layer on the surface of the Zn anode is able to provide ordered zincophilic channels for zinc ions migration,facilitating the reaction kinetics of zinc *** functional theory（DFT） calculations and water contact angle （CA） tests prove that MMT@Zn anode exhibits superior adsorption capacity for Zn2+and better hydrophobicity than the bare Zn anode,thereby achieving excellent cycling ***,the MMT@Zn||MMT@Zn symmetric cell holds the stable cycling over 5600 h at 0.5 mA cm-2and 0.125 m A h cm-2,even exceeding 1800 h long cycling under harsh conditions of 5 m A cm-2and 1.25 m A h *** MMT@Zn||V2O5full cell reaches over 3000 cycles at 2 A g-1with excellent rate ***,this surface engineering modification strategy for enhancing the electrochemical performance of AZIBs represents a promising application.

Designing highly active and stable electrocata-lysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is a challenge for energy con-version and storage *** this work,a S and N co-doped graphene supported cobalt–nickel sulfide composite catalyst(rGO@SN-CoNi_(2)S_(4))was synthesized simply via a one-step hydrothermal *** as-synthesized CoNi_(2)S_(4)particles grew in a mosaic manner inside GO lamellae and were encapsulated with *** a bifunctional catalyst,the r GO@SN-CoNi_(2)S_(4)exhibits excellent electrocatalytic performance under alkaline con-ditions,which only required the overpotential of 142.6 mV(***)and 310 m V(***)to deliver a current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2) for HER and OER,*** good hydrophilicity of the r GO@SN,the pure phase of bimetallic structure,and the chemical coupling/interaction between the CoNi_(2)S_(4)and the rGO@SN are attributable to be the possible reasons responsible for the higher HER and OER catalytic ***,the rGO@SN-CoNi_(2)S_(4)also shows a great potential for serving as an excellent cathode and anode electrolyzer during the water splitting process.

Furfural is one of the most important biomass-based platform molecules as sustainable precursors for chemicals and fuels. The electrochemical hydrodimerization of furfural can generate hydrofuroin, which is a promising precursor for gasoline or jet ***, steering the selectivity toward hydrodimerization under near-neutral conditions that suppress polymerization and disproportionation of furfural remains challenging. Herein, we discovered that tuning the electrolyte cations could be an effective and alternative strategy for modulating furfural reduction to the traditional electrocatalyst design. Under the optimal Ca2+cations,hydrofuroin yield could be much improved from other cations with hydrofuroin selectivity of 95.5%. The systematic characterization of the ion-centered double layer reflected the suitable sizes and charges of hydrated Ca2+for suppressing the hydrogen evolution reaction from activation of surrounding water molecules as well as encouraging furfural accumulation via non-covalent interaction for directing the electron transfer to furfurals. Ions with smaller or larger sizes can either activate local water molecules or form a crowded ionic interface that casts an adverse effect on furfural enrichment. This work not only presents an effective strategy for facilitating biomass valorization via hydrodimerization but also emphasizes the essential role of the ion-centered microenvironment for steering the electrocatalytic pathways.

Solar-driven CO2conversion into value-added chemical provides an attractive strategy for sustainable development. However,the enhanced CO2photoreduction performance with target product selectivity remains a major challenge. Here, we develop a novel strategy involving Cu2O nanoparticles in situ grown on the surface of ZIF-67-derived Co@C-N nanocages （CC） to create abundant active sites and appropriate heterointerfaces. A remarkable CO selectivity of 95.7%with a yield of 117.39μmol g-1h-1and an apparent quantum efficiency as high as 1.88%at 420 nm was obtained over CC-60 catalyst in pure water, which was 87.6times higher than that of pure Cu2O. Theoretical calculations and experiments indicated that Co@C-N nanocages as charge mediator not only rapidly trap photogenerated electrons to promote charge separation efficiency, but also regulate the d-band center of Cu atoms to move to the Fermi energy level, thereby optimizing the reaction kinetics to facilitate the highly selective conversion of the key intermediate *CO desorption to CO.

Human primed pluripotent stem cells are capable of generating all the embryonic ***,their extraembryonic trophectoderm potentials are *** remains unclear how to expand their developmental potential to trophectoderm *** we show that transient treatment with a cocktail of small molecule epigenetic modulators imparts trophectoderm lineage potentials to human primed pluripotent stem cells while preserving their embryonic *** chemically treated cells can generate trophectoderm-like cells and downstream trophoblast stem cells,diverging into syncytiotrophoblast and extravillous trophoblast *** and CUT&Tag analyses reveal that these induced cells share transcriptional profiles with in vivo trophectoderm and cytotrophoblast,and exhibit reduced H3K27me3 modification at gene loci specific to trophoblast lineages compared with primed pluripotent *** exploration highlighted the critical roles of epigenetic modulators HDAC2,EZH1/2,and KDM5s in the activation of trophoblast lineage *** findings demonstrate that transient epigenetic resetting activates unrestricted lineage potential in human primed pluripotent stem cells,and offer new mechanistic insights into human trophoblast lineage specification and in vitro models for studying placental development and related disorders.

Conductive polymer foam(CPF)with excellent compressibility and variable resistance has promising applications in electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding and other integrated functions for wearable ***,its insufficient change amplitude of resistance with compressive strain generally leads to a degradation of shielding performance during ***,an innovative loading strategy of conductive materials on polymer foam is proposed to significantly increase the contact probability and contact area of conductive components under *** inter-skeleton conductive films are constructed by loading alginate-decorated magnetic liquid metal on the polymethacrylate films hanged between the foam skeleton(denoted as AMLM-PM foam).Traditional point contact between conductive skeletons under compression is upgraded to planar contact between conductive ***,the resistance change of AMLM-PM reaches four orders of magnitude under ***,the inter-skeleton conductive films can improve the mechanical strength of foam,prevent the leakage of liquid metal and increase the scattering area of EM ***-PM foam has strain-adaptive EMI shielding performance and shows compression-enhanced shielding effectiveness,solving the problem of traditional CPFs upon *** upgrade of resistance response also enables foam to achieve sensitive pressure sensing over a wide pressure range and compression-regulated Joule heating function.

The interaction between neon and x-ray free-electron lasers with different laser parameters is systematically studied by solving a set of coupled rate equations. As an example, the evolution of 1s^12 s^22 p^6 configuration is given under different incident photon numbers, pulse widths, and photon energies. We have also determined all of the charge-state populations as a function of three laser pulse parameters by averaging over time. The result shows that the variations of these charge-state populations demonstrate a pattern when the pulse width is shorter than 10 fs: some of the charge-states decrease rapidly,while the others rise but remain relatively constant for pulse width larger than 10 fs. The variation of the average charge with three parameters has also obtained. The average charge decreases for a pulse width shorter than 10 fs but remains basically unchanged for a pulse width longer than 10 fs.

Machine learning has achieved dramatic success in a broad spectrum of *** interplay with quantum physics may lead to unprecedented perspectives for both fundamental research and commercial applications,giving rise to an emergent research frontier of quantum machine *** this line,quantum classifiers,which are quantum devices that aim to solve classification problems in machine learning,have attracted tremendous attention *** this review,we give a relatively comprehensive overview for the studies of quantum classifiers,with a focus on recent ***,we will review a number of quantum classification algorithms,including quantum support vector machines,quantum kernel methods,quantum decision tree classifiers,quantum nearest neighbor algorithms,and quantum annealing based ***,we move on to introduce the variational quantum classifiers,which are essentially variational quantum circuits for *** will review different architectures for constructing variational quantum classifiers and introduce the barren plateau problem,where the training of quantum classifiers might be hindered by the exponentially vanishing *** addition,the vulnerability aspect of quantum classifiers in the setting of adversarial learning and the recent experimental progress on different quantum classifiers will also be discussed.

Quantum machine learning explores the interplay between machine learning and quantum physics, which may lead to unprecedented perspectives for both fields. In fact, recent works have shown strong evidence that quantum computers could outperform classical computers in solving certain notable machine learning tasks. Yet, quantum learning systems may also suffer from the vulnerability problem: adding a tiny carefully crafted perturbation to the legitimate input data would cause the systems to make incorrect predictions at a notably high confidence level. In this paper, we study the universality of adversarial examples and perturbations for quantum classifiers. Through concrete examples involving classifications of real-life images and quantum phases of matter, we show that there exist universal adversarial examples that can fool a set of different quantum classifiers. We prove that, for a set of k classifiers with each receiving input data of n qubits, an O(ln [k]/2~n) increase of the perturbation strength is enough to ensure a moderate universal adversarial risk. In addition, for a given quantum classifier, we show that there exist universal adversarial perturbations, which can be added to different legitimate samples to make them adversarial examples for the classifier. Our results reveal the universality perspective of adversarial attacks for quantum machine learning systems, which would be crucial for practical applications of both near-term and future quantum technologies in solving machine learning problems.
