The role of nurses in the prevention of cervical cancer: cervical screening, an unkept promise by the majority of women in Nigeria

cervical cancer remains a major public health problem accounting for continuous female death in developing *** cancer is the second most common cancer in women globally with an estimated number of 500,000 new cases of cervical cancer and 273,000 mortalities *** screening is the best cancer screening test in the history of medicine and most cost-effective of all medical screening *** study review aimed to highlight methods of cervical cancer prevention,identify the uptake of cervical screening among women,and explain the role of nurses in uptake of cervical *** cancer is preventable and easily treatable if it is detected at early stages,but poor information on prevention and access to screening and treatment contributes to 90%of *** the developing countries such as Nigeria,a large proportion of cervical cancers are diagnosed in advanced stages,with poor rates of *** three main methods for preventing cervical cancer are through primary prevention(human papillomavirus vaccination and health education),secondary prevention(cervical screening,early detection of precancerous lesions,and treatment),and tertiary prevention(measures to slow the progression or recurrence,surgical removal,radiotherapy,and chemotherapy).Nurses can help improve the acceptability of this neglected promise by focusing on health education on cervical screening and vaccination in prenatal clinics and infant welfare clinics where there are more *** of cyberspace could also serve as a successful and popular platform for this health *** nurses/midwives must preach and fervently work toward the WHO 90–70–90 plan for eradicating cervical cancer.

Adenovirus induced acute hepatitis in non-human primates after liver-directed gene therapy

OBJEcTIVE: To define the mechanism of acute hepatitis in non-human primates after liver directed gene therapy. METHODS: Differences in immune response exhibited by 8 rhesus monkeys receiving adenovirus (Ad) or lipofectamine-mediated gene transfer by various routes, the time course, and the nature of the specific immune responses to both adenoviral vectors and transgene products were studied using HE staining (H&E) and immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: The monkeys developed mild to moderate acute hepatitis 1 to 3 weeks after intravenous or intrabiliary injection of first generation replication-defective adenoviruses carrying the Escherichia coli lacZ gene. This was accompanied by adenovirus-mediated T-cell proliferation and neutralizing antibodies to the adenovirus. Increased numbers of cD3(+), cD4(+) and cD8(+) T-lymphocytes were detected in the diseased livers, while B-lymphocytes were absent. Hepatocytes demonstrated increased expression of beta 2-microglobulins (beta 2-MG) and HLA-DR antigens in the plasma membranes. The development of acute hepatitis and the accompanying immune abnormalities were delayed in immunosuppressed monkeys until after the discontinuation of immunosuppressive therapy. The monkeys infused with Ad. cMVluc showed more significant and longer durations of hepatitis than the monkeys infused with adenoviruses carrying the lacZ gene. Lipofectamine-mediated gene transfer was inefficient. There was neither lacZ expression nor significant immune response in the liver of monkeys infused with lipofectamine via the portal vein or the common bile duct. cONcLUSION: Immune response to the hepatocytes in liver directed gene therapy is MHc class I restricted and T-cell mediated. Both adenoviral vectors and foreign genes are related to the liver damage. Mild to moderate hepatic inflammation seen with the E-1 deleted vector is reversible. Immunosuppression regimens may prolong transgene expression and delay the development of acute adenoviral hepatitis.

The interaction between free surface flow and structure is investigated using a new level set immersed boundary *** incorporation of an improved immersed boundary method with a free surface capture scheme implemented in a Navier-Stokes solver allows the interaction between fluid flow with free surface and moving body/bodies of almost arbitrary shape to be modelled.A new algorithm is proposed to locate exact forcing points near solid boundaries,which provides an accurate numerical *** discretized linear system of the Poisson pressure equation is solved using the Generalized Minimum Residual(GMRES)method with incomplete LU *** flow past a cylinder at Reynolds number Re=100 is modelled using the present model and results agree well with the experiment and numerical data in the *** exit and entry of a cylinder at the prescribed velocity is also *** predicted slamming coefficient is in good agreement with experimental data and previous numerical simulations using a comFlow *** vertical slamming force and pressure distribution for the free falling wedge is also studied by the present model and comparisons with available theoretical solutions and experimental data are made.

Ruinscapes in Modern chinese Literature and Visual culture

The ruin is one of the most evocative and complex representational themes in modern chinese literature and visual culture. From remnants of historical cities, to monuments that have suffered the ravages of war, city blocks under （re）construction due to urban renewal projects, half-finished and abandoned high rises and theme parks, and deserted factories in declining rustbelt cities, ruins are fascinating representational objects because they both recall past （or would-be） glory and are a sobering reminder of the impermanence of human endeavors. As embodiments of transience and decay, ruins provoke strong affective responses while inviting musings on the underlying historical, economic, and sociopolitical forces that have led to disuse, depopulation, or peripheralization. Ruins are also a rich reservoir of symbolic and allegorical possibilities, often mined by artists and writers to signify moral decay, the crumbling of value and belief systems, spiritual desolation, and nostalgia. Indeed, ruins, whether physical or metaphysical, are ubiquitous in modern chinese literary and visual representation. They are manifest in the writings of Lu Xun and Eileen chang, conspicuous in the dilapidated walls in Fei Mu＇s masterful Xiaocheng zhi chun （Spring in a Small Town）, epitomized by the derelict （post）industrial landscapes captured in Wang Bing＇s West of the Tracks, and embodied in the submerged riverside towns in Jia Zhangke＇s Still Life, to name just a few examples.

Lightweight concrete Using Local Industrial By-product

construction is one of the largest users of energy, material resources and water and it is a formidable polluter. One of the major materials used in construction is concrete and ordinary concrete contains about 12% cement which is a major producer of greenhouse gas in the world. The use of waste materials as partial replacement of cement in concrete reduces greenhouse gases, frees up land fill space, and reduces raw materials consumption. This contributes towards sustainable development, as in a sustainable society, nature is not subject to systematically increasing concentrations of substances extracted from the earth＇s crust. This research work explores the possibility of replacing some percentage of cement in concrete with marble sludge powder to produce lightweight concrete. This was achieved by determining the compressive strength and some hardened properties of concrete like sorptivity and carbonation with marble sludge. The results so far have been able to prove that lightweight concrete can be produced when some percentage of cement is replaced with this waste.

Perspectives for Energetic Destination of MSW （Municipal Solid Waste）

The correct individuation of the best final destination for MSW cannot ignore the option of thermal treatment, taking into account both the possibility of energy recovery and the capacity of the thermal process to destroy an important part of the pollutants that are originally present in the waste itself. In order to realize this operation, it is possible to use conventional incineration systems, but also to consider new innovative processes and technologies; among them, production of RDF （refuse derived fuel） is quite often used in process plants, and gasification of waste seems to be a promising solution. The aim of the present paper is a critical analysis of the above-mentioned solutions, not only from the operational point of view but also on the basis of the status of the art of practical applications and in consideration of the most significant results for the Italian and European situation. For the application of these technologies a specific Italian case has been considered： it consists of the correct individuation of waste management modality for final destination of wastes produced in a city located in Piedmont （north of Italy）. The results of the analysis highlight the environmental and economic convenience, for the specific considered case, of the direct combustion in incineration plant of the all amount of the wastes produced. From the considered specific example some more general conclusions can be drawn.
