Prognostic value of a nomogram model for postoperative liver metastasis of colon cancer

BACKGROUND Colon cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive *** metastasis after colon cancer surgery is the primary cause of death in patients with colon *** To construct a novel nomogram model including various factors to predict liver metastasis after colon cancer *** We retrospectively analyzed 242 patients with colon cancer who were admitted and underwent radical resection for colon cancer in Zhejiang Provincial People’s Hospital from december 2019 to december *** were divided into liver metastasis and non-liver metastasis ***,age,and other general and clinicopathological data(preoperative blood routine and biochemical test indexes)were *** risk factors for liver metastasis were analyzed using singlefactor and multifactorial logistic regression.A predictive model was then constructed and evaluated for *** Systemic inflammatory index(SII),C-reactive protein/albumin ratio(CAR),red blood cell distribution width(RDW),alanine aminotransferase,preoperative carcinoembryonic antigen level,and lymphatic metastasis were different between groups(Pder the curve was 0.93 for the column-line diagram prediction model constructed based on these risk factors to distinguish whether liver metastasis occurred *** actual curve of the column-line diagram predicting the risk of postoperative liver metastasis was close to the ideal curve,with good *** prediction model curves in the decision curve analysis showed higher net benefits for a larger threshold range than those in extreme cases,indicating that the model is *** Liver metastases after colorectal cancer surgery could be well predicted by a nomogram based on the SII,CAR,and RDW.

Pose-invariant facial expression recognition(FER)is an active but challenging research topic in computer *** with the involvement of diverse observation angles,FER makes the training parameter models inconsistent from one view to *** study develops a deep global multiple-scale and local patches attention(GMS-LPA)dual-branch network for pose-invariant FER to weaken the influence of pose variation and selfocclusion on recognition *** this research,the designed GMS-LPA network contains four main parts,i.e.,the feature extraction module,the global multiple-scale(GMS)module,the local patches attention(LPA)module,and the model-level fusion *** feature extraction module is designed to extract and normalize texture information to the same *** GMS model can extract deep global features with different receptive fields,releasing the sensitivity of deeper convolution layers to pose-variant and *** LPA module is built to force the network to focus on local salient features,which can lower the effect of pose variation and self-occlusion on recognition ***,the extracted features are fused with a model-level strategy to improve recognition *** experimentswere conducted on four public databases,and the recognition results demonstrated the feasibility and validity of the proposed methods.

With our continuous endeavors in seeking potent anti-HIV-1 agents,we reported here the discovery,biological characterization,and druggability evaluation of a class of nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase *** fully explore the chemical space of the NNRTI-binding pocket,novel series of dihydrothiopyrano[3,2-d]pyrimidines were developed by employing the structure-based design *** of the derivatives were endowed with prominent antiviral activities against HIV-1 wild-type and resistant strains at nanomolar *** them,compound 23h featuring the aminopiperidine moiety was identified as the most potent inhibitor,with EC50values ranging from 3.43 to 21.4 nmol/***,for the challenging double-mutants F227L+V106A and K103N+Y181C,23h exhibited 2.3-to 14.5-fold more potent activity than the first-line drugs efavirenz and ***,the resistance profiles of 23h achieved remarkable improvement compared to efavirenz and *** binding target of 23h was further confirmed to be HIV-1 reverse *** modeling studies were also performed to elucidate the biological evaluation results and give guidance for the optimization ***,no apparent inhibition of the major CYP450 enzymes and hERG channel was observed for *** importantly,23h was characterized by good pharmacokinetic properties and excellent safety in ***,23h holds great promise as a potential candidate for its effective antiviral efficacy and favorable drug-like profiles.

Background Laparoscopic dismembered pyeloplasty with less trauma than open surgery is commonly performed for ureteropelvic junction obstruction despite a longer operating time and a long learning curve. We describe in this paper a new technique, which combines laparoscopic and open procedure in dismembered pyeloplasty, that we have developed in 51 patients and achieved excellent results.

Rockburst proneness considering energy characteristics and sample shape effects

Accurate prediction of rockburst proneness is one of challenges for assessing the rockburst risk and selecting effective control *** study aims to assess rockburst proneness by considering the energy characteristics and qualitative information during rock *** representative rock types in cylindrical and cuboidal sample shapes were tested under uniaxial compression conditions and the failure progress was detected by a high-speed *** far-field ejection mass ratio(FEMR)was determined considering the qualitative failure information of the rock *** peak-strength energy impact index and the residual elastic energy index were used to quantitatively evaluate the rockburst proneness of both cylindrical and cuboidal ***,the performance of these two indices was analyzed by comparing their estimates with the *** results show that the accuracy of the residual elastic energy index is significantly higher than that of the peak-strength energy impact *** residual elastic energy index and the FEMR are in good agreement for both cylindrical and cuboidal rock *** is because these two indices can essentially reflect the common energy release mechanism characterized by the mass,ejection velocity,and ejection distance of rock *** suggests that both the FEMR and the residual elastic energy index can be used to accurately measure the rockburst proneness of cylindrical and cuboidal samples based on uniaxial compression test.

Evolution of molecular structure of TATB under shock loading from transient Raman spectroscopic technique

By combination of the transient Raman spectroscopic measurement and the density functional theoretical calculations,the structural evolution and stability of TATB under shock compression was *** to the improvement in synchronization control between two-stage light gas gun and the transient Raman spectra acquisition,as well as the sample preparation,the Raman peak of the N-O mode of TATB was firstly observed under shock pressure up to 13.6 GPa,noticeably higher than the upper limit of 8.5 GPa reported in available *** taking into account of the continuous shift of the main peak and other observed Raman peaks,we did not distinguish any structural transition or any new ***,both the present Raman spectra and the time-resolved radiation of TATB during shock loading showed that TATB exhibits higher chemical stability than previous *** reveal the detailed structural response and evolution of TATB under compression,the density functional theoretical calculations were conducted,and it was found that the pressure make N-O bond lengths shorter,nitro bond angles larger,and intermolecular and intra-molecular hydrogen bond interactions *** observed red shift of Raman peak was ascribed to the abnormal enhancement of H-bound effect on the scissor vibration mode of the nitro group.

A survey of energy-efficient strategies for federated learning in mobile edge computing

With the booming development of fifth-generation network technology and Internet of Things,the number of end-user devices(EDs)and diverse applications is surging,resulting in massive data generated at the edge of *** process these data eficiently,the innovative mobile edge computing(MEC)framework has emerged to guarantee low latency and enable eficient computing close to the user ***,federated learning(FL)has demonstrated its empirical success in edge computing due to its privacy-preserving ***,it becomes a promising solution for analyzing and processing distributed data on EDs in various machine learning tasks,which are the major workloads in ***,EDs are typically powered by batteries with limited capacity,which brings challenges when performing energy-intensive FL *** address these challenges,many strategies have been proposed to save energy in *** the absence of a survey that thoroughly summarizes and classifies these strategies,in this paper,we provide a comprehensive survey of recent advances in energy-efficient strategies for FL in ***,we first introduce the system model and energy consumption models in FL,in terms of computation and *** we analyze the challenges regarding improving energy efficiency and summarize the energy-efficient strategies from three perspectives:learning-based,resource allocation,and client *** conduct a detailed analysis of these strategies,comparing their advantages and ***,we visually illustrate the impact of these strategies on the performance of FL by showcasing experimental ***,several potential future research directions for energy-efficient FL are discussed.

Experimental investigation on fluid-induced slip behavior of fault filled with fault gouge

Fault zones are usually filled with fault gouge and accompanied by fault water. The coupled effect of fault gouge and water significantly impacts the slip behavior of the fault, which may weaken the fault structure and further induce rupture propagation and earthquakes. In this study, we carried out a laboratory experiment to investigate the fluid-induced slip behavior of fault filled with gouge. The friction evolution characteristic associated with fluid pressure and effective stress was investigated during the slip process. In addition, the role transformation process of the gouge on the slip behavior of fault was revealed. The experimental result indicates that the friction on the filled fault surface is significantly affected by fault gouge. The rupture of the gouge promotes fault slip and the fluid pressure plays a vital role in the initiation of fault slip. The fault gouge enhances the shearing strength of the fault and acts as a barrier before the initial slip under fluid injection. Nevertheless, the fault gouge would accelerate the fault slip and transform into lubricant after the initial slip. (c) 2024 Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Achieving Negatively Charged Pt Single Atoms on Amorphous Ni(OH)_(2)Nanosheets with Promoted Hydrogen Absorption in Hydrogen Evolution

Single-atom(SA)catalysts with nearly 100%atom utilization have been widely employed in electrolysis for decades,due to the outperforming catalytic activity and ***,most of the reported SA catalysts are fixed through the strong bonding between the dispersed single metallic atoms with nonmetallic atoms of the substrates,which greatly limits the controllable regulation of electrocatalytic activity of SA *** this work,Pt-Ni bonded Pt SA catalyst with adjustable electronic states was successfully constructed through a controllable electrochemical reduction on the coordination unsaturated amorphous Ni(OH)_(2)nanosheet *** on the X-ray absorption fine structure analysis and first-principles calculations,Pt SA was bonded with Ni sites of amorphous Ni(OH)_(2),rather than conventional O sites,resulting in negatively charged Pt^(δ-).In situ Raman spectroscopy revealed that the changed configuration and electronic states greatly enhanced absorbability for activated hydrogen atoms,which were the essential intermediate for alkaline hydrogen evolution *** hydrogen spillover process was revealed from amorphous Ni(OH)_(2)that effectively cleave the H-O-H bond of H_(2)O and produce H atom to the Pt SA sites,leading to a low overpotential of 48 mV in alkaline electrolyte at-1000 mA cm^(-2)mg^(-1)_(Pt),evidently better than commercial Pt/C *** work provided new strategy for the control-lable modulation of the local structure of SA catalysts and the systematic regulation of the electronic states.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Increased Downstroke Duration for an FWAV with Morphing-coupled Wing Flapping Configuration

This paper is based on a previously developed bio-inspired Flapping Wing Aerial Vehicle(FWAV),RoboFalcon,which can fly with a morphing-coupled flapping *** this paper,a simple flapping stroke control system based on Hall effect sensors is designed and applied,which is capable of assigning different up-and down-stroke speeds for the RoboFalcon platform to achieve an adjustable downstroke *** aerodynamic and power characteristics of the morphing-coupled flapping pattern and the conventional flapping pattern with varying downstroke ratios are measured through a wind tunnel experiment,and the corresponding aerodynamic models are developed and analyzed by the nonlinear least squares *** relatively low power consumption of the slow-downstroke mode of this vehicle is verified through outdoor flight *** results of wind tunnel experiments and flight tests indicate that increased downstroke duration can improve aerodynamic and power performance for the RoboFalcon platform.
