mitsugumin 29 (mG29) is a transmembrane protein that is normally found in the triad junction of skeletal muscle. Our previous studies have shown that targeted deletion of mg29 from the skeletal muscle resulted in abnormality of the triad junction structure, and also increased susceptibility to muscle fatigue. To elucidate the basis of these effects, we investigated the properties of Ca2+-uptake and -release in toxin-skinned Extensor Digitorium Longus (EDL) muscle fibers from control and mg29 knockout mice. Compared with the control muscle, submaximal Ca2+-uptake into the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) was slower and the storage of Ca2+ inside the SR was less in the mutant muscle, due to increased leakage process of Ca2+ movement across the SR. The leakage pathway is associated with the increased sensitivity of Ca2+/caffeine -induced Ca2+ release to myoplasmic Ca2+. Therefore, the increased fatigability of mutant EDL muscles can result from a combination of a slowing of Ca2+ uptake, modification of Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR), and a reduction in total SR Ca2+ content.

This paper discusses a contemporary design strategy to deal with urban *** 21st century architecture it is possible to recognize the existence of several projects that consist in doing almost nothing,carrying out only minimal modifications to their sites of *** present-day architecture,this approach is considered useful sometimes to respect the surroundings and sometimes to improve them through the smallest and tiniest *** almost nothing is a strategy that can unfold in many *** can mean opting for inaction and thus not modifying a place at all;or designing a temporary project intended to occupy it only for a limited period of time;or also carrying out a particularly small but permanent *** on the circumstances,it is an approach that can help architecture protecting a place,reclaiming it or reactivating its latent *** strategy can be implemented both through a single intervention on a specific place,or through a network of coordinated projects in different *** purpose of the paper is to present this approach in the context of 21st century urban architecture,through cases studied from the last two decades.

Transcriptomic studies are an important tool for understanding the molecular pathways underlying host plant use by agricultural pests,including vectors of damaging plant *** far,bulk RNA-Seq has been the main approach for non-model *** method relies on pooling large numbers of whole organisms or hundreds of individually dissected *** latter approach is logistically challenging,may introduce artifacts of handling and storage,and is not compatible with biological ***,we tested an approach to generate transcriptomes of individual salivary glands and other low-input body tissues from whiteflies(Bemisia tabaci mEAm1),which are major vectors of plant *** comparing our outputs to published bulk RNA-Seq datasets for whole whitefly bodies and pools of salivary glands,we demonstrate that this approach recovers similar numbers of transcripts relative to bulk RNA-Seq in a tissue-specific manner,and for some metrics,exceeds performance of bulk tissue *** generated from individual salivary glands also yielded additional novel transcripts not identified in pooled salivary gland datasets,and had hundreds of enriched transcripts when compared with whole head ***,our study demonstrates that it is feasible to produce high quality,replicated transcriptomes of whitefly salivary glands and other low-input *** anticipate that our approach will expand hypothesis-driven research on salivary glands of whiteflies and other Hemiptera,thus enabling novel control strategies to disrupt feeding and virus transmission.

One of the factors facilitating the expansion and proliferation of wild boar Sus scrofa is the plasticity of its reproductive ***,the real influence of maternal and environmental factors on number and sex of the offspring is stll *** the litter size was shown to be related with the maternal condition,the strength of this relation remains to be understood,together with the possible role played by environmental ***,it is unclear whether wild boar females can adjust their offspring *** investigated multiple aspects of wild boar maternal investment by means of a 10-year dataset of female reproductive traits and a set of biologically meaningful environmental *** maternal condition slightly affected the litter size but not the offspring sex,and environment did not affect the litter size or the offspring ***,mothers did not cope with the higher costs entailed by producing sons by placing them in the most advantageous intrauterine position,nor by allocating less resources on *** set of results showed that the female reproductive investment is quite rigid in comparison with other aspects of wild boar reproductive *** boar females seem to adopt a typical rstrategy,producing constantly large litters and allocating resources on both sexes regardless of internal and external *** strategy may be adaptive to cope with environmental unpredictability and an intense human harvest,contributing to explain the extreme success of wild boar within human-dominated landscapes.

To verify if the response by Eucalyptus clones in a single-tree plot is influenced by neighboring plants and to determine the effect of missing and/or dominated plants,seven eucalyptus trials in four Brazilian states were analyzed in a randomized complete block design with one plant/plot and 30 *** annual increment(mAI,m^(3)ha^(-1)per year)was determined for three-year-old *** influence of neighboring clones was estimated by a linear regression coefficient between the mAI of each clone/plot and the average of a clonal mAI and its eight *** determine the effect of missing and/or dominated trees,a correction between the mAI and the area available/plant was *** analysis considered unadjusted and adjusted data for missing and dominated *** of accuracy and index of coincidence were used to compare the *** single-tree plots,clone performances were not influenced by neighboring *** accuracy was not increased by any of the adjustments employed and the clone ranking was not altered,and therefore did not justify their use.
