Influence of biological maturation on cardiac autonomic recovery in female volleyball players during&after repeated sprin.s.training:An experimental trial

Previously,it was suggested that biological maturation(BM)could be linked to cardiac autonomic recovery(CAR)in the pediatric ***,this influence hasn’t been confirmed *** aim was to investigate the impact of BM on CAR in female volleyball *** study with a sample of 38 volleyball players,comprising 20 girls(age:[11.62.1]years)and 18 women(age:[24.55.5]years),we analyzed BM,comparing maturing subjects(girls)with mature subjects(women).Additionally,we assessed peak height velocity(PHV)in *** conducted a training session involving repeated sprin.s.3 roun.s.of 6 sprin.s.interspersed by 5 min[min]of passive rest).Using short-range radio telemetry,we analyzed CAR during(at the end of the 1st and 2nd roun.s.and after(following the 3rd round)the training session of repeated sprin.s.by applying the 60-s to 300-s heart rate recovery index(HRR-Index).Girls exhibited superior CAR compared to women(round 2:60-s,120-s,240-s,and 300-s,psubgroup analyses of BM indicated that individuals in the Late-PHV stage demonstrated superior CAR compared to those in the Early-PHV and During-PHV groups.(60-s to 300-s,η2p>0.4,psubjects in the During-PHV stage were superior to those in the Early-PHV stage(240-sa 300-s,η2 p>0.4,pncluded that biological maturation has a significant impact on cardiac autonomic recovery.

The present study aims to demonstrate the chemical composition of the ethanolic extract of sarcomphalus joazeiro bark and to evaluate its antibacterial and antibiofilm *** that,the ethanolic extract of the stem bark was prepared,and chemical characterization was carried out in *** inhibitory concentration and antibiotic modification test were performed by the microdilution *** and antiformation assays were evaluated by the crystal violet *** the chemical characterization,the presence of 24 peaks was *** activity showed minimum inhibitory concentration≥2048μg/*** the evaluations of the potentiating activity,synergism was the most *** the formation analysis,it was observed that most strains showed moderate biofilm *** was concluded that saponin derivatives are the major secondary metabolites in the analyzed extract and that it presen.s.relevant synergism with the antibiotics studied and a significant ability to inhibit bacterial biofilm formation.

EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE On THE deVELOPMEnT AnD REPRODUCTIOn OF BEMIsIA TABACI B BIOTYPE (HOMOPTERA:ALEYRODIDAE)

The development, survivorship and reproduction of Bemisia tabaci B bi otype on eggplant at seven constant temperatures (17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32 and 35℃) were studied. The developmental periods from egg to adult varied from 48.7 days at 17℃ to 13.9 days at 29℃ and the develo pmental threshold estimated for a generation by linear regression was 12.4℃. The optimum temperature for B. tabaci population growth was 26℃, both extremely low (nd high temperature (>32℃) delayed the de velopment. survivorships from egg to adult was 67.3 % at 26℃, 27.6 % and 29.0 % at 35℃ and 17℃ resp ectively. The average longevity of females ranged from 39.6 days at 20℃ to 12.8 days at 35℃. Ovipo sition per female varied from 164.8 eggs at 20℃ to 78.5 eggs at 32℃. Both the longevity and oviposition of B. tabaci females at different temperatures were significantly different ( P nd the intrinsic rate of natural increase ( r m ) for B. tabaci at 29℃ was the highest.

<i>Kappaphycus alvarezii</i>(Rhodophyta): new Record of an Exotic species for the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica

Kappaphycus alvarezii, a red macroalgal species native to south-East Asia, has been introduced for commercial purposes to more than 20 tropical countries. In 2000, Panama became the first Central American country to develop its cultivation following a pilot-commercial approach. Twelve years after his introduction to Panama, the species was found to the south Caribbean coast. In the present study, we report the first record of K. alvarezii collected in Costa Rican waters. Genetic identification of the sample was performed with the mitochondrial marker cox2-cox3 intergenic spacer, and phylogenetic analyses showed that the sample collected grouped into a monophyletic clade with GenBank sequences from Vietnam, Indon.s.a, the Philippin.s. Brazil and Venezuela. Here we provide further description of its position with respect to other strains of K. alvarezii collected globally. Its possible route of entry to the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is discussed. To date, it is possible to locate K. alvarezii in different areas away from the production fields which show its dispersion, and that the species is expanding;but more studies are needed to know the phase of colonization in which it is located because it is a combination of natural factors and human exploitation that determin.s.the invasive potential of the species.

Contraception Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Adolescen.s.at Risk of Pregnancy in northeastern Brazil

Background: Contraceptive methods (CM) are important resources in the prevention of adolescent pregnancy. This study aimed to investigate adolescent knowledge, attitudes and practices related to contraception. study design: A cross-sectional and exploratory study was conducted with 7th to 9th grade adolescen.s.in northeastern Brazil. Their knowledge, attitudes, and contraceptive method use were analysed by gender, age and sexual initiation groups. Results: A sexual debut had been experienced by 21% (n = 120) of all responden.s.(n = 570). The majority of the responden.s.who had experienced a sexual debut were male (73.3%, n = 88), their mean age was 15 years (sD = 1.46), and 49.3% (n = 59) never used any CM. The participan.s.displayed low knowledge and unfavourable and ambivalent attitudes concerning contraception. Conclusion: Adolescen.s.initiate sexual intercourse with knowledge and attitudes that limit the use of CM, which makes them more at risk of pregnancy. Further research that will be representative of the specific population in need of interventions is necessary.

Context： An.s.hetic tubes are always on the surgical table, for this reason, it＇s necessary to perform its disinfection, generally by chemicals. Aim： Was to analyze the effectiven.s. of tubes decontamination made by disinfectant substances used in a clinical setting and to identify the microorgan.s.s found on their surface. Materials and Methods： 14 an.s.hetic tubes were collected from dental clinic, on 5 groups. 01 plastic and 01 glass tubes that were not submitted to any disinfection process composed the control group and they had been.s.wn in Agar Blood. Experimental groups underwent immersion and fixation with the proposed chemicals for 1 minute, laminar flow hood was used to seed it in Agar Blood and then it was transferred to incubator for 24 hours at 37℃. Tests were used to identify the main Gram positive pathogenic genera. Gram-negative pathogenic colonies isolated were seeded in biochemical means of identification. Results： It was possible to identify the presence of staphylococcus coagulase negative, staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus viridans, staphylococcus saprophyticus, Escherichia coli and Acinetobacter spp, as well as the effectiven.s. of chemical solutions proposed in this study. Conclusions： All chemical solutions proposed in this study were effective for the surface disinfection process of an.s.hetic tubes.
