Background:Tau vaccination and administration of anti-tau antibodies can prevent pathology and cognitive impairment in transgenic mouse models of tauopathy,suggesting that therapies which increase anti-tau antibodies might slow the development and/or progression of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).The extent to which individuals with no cognitive impairment(NCI)possess serum anti-tau antibodies,and whether their concentrations of these antibodies differ from anti-tau antibody levels in persons with mild cognitive impairment(MCI)or AD,are *** studies measuring these antibodies did not account for antibody polyvalent binding,which can be extensive,nor that antibody binding to phosphorylated tau peptides could be due to binding to non-phosphorylated epitopes on those ***:An ELISA controlling for these factors was used to measure the specific binding of serum IgG and IgM to phosphorylated(“pTau;”phosphorylated at Serine-199 and Serine-202)and non-phosphorylated(“non-pTau”)tau 196-207 in subjects with NCI,MCI,or AD(n=10/group).Between-group differences in these antibody levels were evaluated for statistical significance,and correlations were examined in pooled data from all subjects between these antibody levels and subject age,global cognitive functioning,and NFT ***:Specific IgG binding to pTau and non-pTau was detected in all subjects except for one NCI *** IgM binding was detected to pTau in all subjects except for two AD patients,and to non-pTau in all *** pTau IgG was increased in MCI subjects by 53% and 70% *** and NCI subjects respectively(both pps for non-pTau IgG(p=0.052),pTau IgM,or non-pTau ***-pTau IgG was negatively associated with global cognition(Spearman rho=−0.50).Conclusions:Specific binding of serum IgG and IgM to phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated tau may be present in older persons regardless of their cognitive *** IgG

The formation of axonal spheroid is a common feature following spinal cord *** further understand the source of Ca^(2+)that mediates axonal spheroid formation,we used our previously characterized ex vivo mouse spinal cord model that allows precise perturbation of extracellular Ca^(2+).We performed twophoton excitation imaging of spinal cords isolated from Thy1YFp+transgenic mice and applied the lipophilic dye,Nile red,to record dynamic changes in dorsal column axons and their myelin sheaths *** selectively released Ca^(2+)from internal stores using the Ca^(2+)ionophore ionomycin in the presence or absence of external Ca^(2+).We reported that ionomycin dose-dependently induces pathological changes in myelin and pronounced axonal spheroid formation in the presence of normal 2 m M Ca^(2+)artificial cerebrospinal *** contrast,removal of external Ca^(2+)significantly decreased ionomycin-induced myelin and axonal spheroid formation at 2 hours but not at 1 hour after *** mice that express a neuron-specific Ca^(2+)indicator in spinal cord axons,we confirmed that ionomycin induced significant increases in intra-axonal Ca^(2+),but not in the absence of external Ca^(2+).periaxonal swelling and the resultant disruption in the axo-myelinic interface often precedes and is negatively correlated with axonal spheroid *** with YM58483(500 n M),a well-established blocker of store-operated Ca^(2+)entry,significantly decreased myelin injury and axonal spheroid ***,these data reveal that ionomycin-induced depletion of internal Ca^(2+)stores and subsequent external Ca^(2+)entry through store-operated Ca^(2+)entry contributes to pathological changes in myelin and axonal spheroid formation,providing new targets to protect central myelinated fibers.

AIM：To define the financial and management conditions required to introduce a femtosecond laser system for cataract surgery in a clinic using a fuzzy logic ***：In the simulation performed in the current study,the costs associated to the acquisition and use of a commercially available femtosecond laser platform for cataract surgery（VICTUS,TECHNOLAS perfect Vision GmbH,Bausch ＆ Lomb,Munich,Germany） during a period of 5y were considered.A sensitivity analysis was performed considering such costs and the countable amortization of the system during this 5y ***,a fuzzy logic analysis was used to obtain an estimation of the money income associated to each femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery（G）. RESULTS：According to the sensitivity analysis,the femtosecond laser system under evaluation can be profitable if 1400 cataract surgeries are performed per year and if each surgery can be invoiced more than $*** contrast,the fuzzy logic analysis confirmed that the patient had to pay more per surgery,between $661.8 and $667.4 per surgery,without considering the cost of the intraocular lens（IOL）.CONCLUSION：A profitability of femtosecond laser systems for cataract surgery can be obtained after a detailed financial analysis,especially in those centers with large volumes of *** cost of the surgery for patients should be adapted to the real flow of patients with the ability of paying a reasonable range of cost.

Water electrolysis is a sustainable approach for hydrogen production by using electricity from clean energy ***,both the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)associated with water electrolysis are kinetically sluggish,leading to low efficiency in corresponding electrolysis *** addition,current electrocatalysts that can catalyze both HER and OER to practical rates require noble metals such as platinum that are low in abundance and high in price,severely limiting *** a result,the development of high-performance and cost-effective non-noble metal electrocatalysts to replace noble ones has *** on this,this review will comprehensively present recent research in the design,synthesis,characterization and performance validation/optimization of non-noble metal HER electrocatalysts and analyze corresponding catalytic ***,several important types of non-noble metal electrocatalysts including zero-dimensional,one-dimensional,two-dimensional and three-dimensional materials are presented with an emphasis on morphology/structure,synergetic interaction between metal and support,catalytic property and HER activity/***,existing technical challenges are summarized and corresponding research directions are proposed toward practical application.

Retinal degenerative diseases affecting the outer retina in its many forms(inherited,acquired or induced)are characterized by photoreceptor loss,and represent currently a leading cause of irreversible vision loss in the *** present,there are very few treatments capable of preventing,recovering or reversing photoreceptor degeneration or the secondary retinal remodeling,which follows photoreceptor loss and can also cause the death of other retinal ***,these diseases are nowadays one of the greatest challenges in the field of ophthalmological *** marrow derived-mononuclear stem cell transplantation has shown promising results for the treatment of photoreceptor *** cells may have the potential to slow down photoreceptor loss,and therefore should be applied in the early stages of photoreceptor ***,because of their possible paracrine effects,they may have a wide range of clinical applications,since they can potentially impact on several retinal cell types at once and photoreceptor degenerations can involve different cells and/or begin in one cell type and then affect adjacent *** intraocular injection of bone marrow derived-mononuclear stem cells also enhances the outcomes of other treatments aimed to protect ***,it is likely that future investigations may combine bone marrow derived-mononuclear stem cell therapy with other systemic or intraocular treatments to obtain greater therapeutic effects in degenerative retinal diseases.

Botryosphaeria panicle and shoot blight was considered as one of the single greatest threats to the California pistachio industry in the last two decades.A large number of fungi with typical morphological characteristics of Botryosphaeriaceae and Diaporthe were collected from pistachios in 18 counties in California and deposited in our culture *** aims of this study were to identify these isolates,recognize the distribution of these fungal species and test their pathogenicity to pistachio cultivars.A total of 304 California isolates were identified based on comparisons of DNA sequence data of the ITS,TEF-1α and β-tubulin gene regions,and combined with the morphological features of the cultures and *** results showed that California isolates represent eight species of Botryosphaeriaceae and one species of *** species include Botryosphaeria dothidea,Diplodia seriata,Dothiorella iberica,***,Lasiodiplodia citricola,***,Neofusicoccum mediterraneum,*** and Diaporthe *** the Botryosphaeriaceae,86% of the isolates were identified as ***,which distributed in all the sampled *** pistachio trees,in addition to isolates from California,*** from Arizona,*** from Australia,***,*** and *** from Greece were also *** of the California fungi on pistachio cultivars,Kerman(female)and peters(male),using a mycelium plug and conidial suspension inoculation methods showed that all these species are pathogenic to the two tested pistachio cultivars,with ***,*** being the most pathogenic species,followed by *** study represents the first comprehensive work on the species identification,distribution and pathogenicity of Botryosphaeriaceae and Diaporthe on pistachio in California.
