Performance of Bt-susceptible and -heterozygous dual-gene resistant genotypes of Spodoptera frugiperda (***) (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae) in seed blends of non-Bt and pyramided Bt maize

A seed blend refuge has been implemented in the *** Belt for Bt maize resistance *** fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda(***),is a target pest of Bt maize in the *** larvae of this pest are mobile,which may affect the efficacy of seed blend *** this study,field and greenhouse trials were conducted to determine the performance of Bt-susceptible(aabb)and-heterozygous dual-gene-resistant(AaBb)genotypes of *** in seed blends of non-Bt and pyramided Bt *** field trials evaluated larval survival,larval growth,and plant injury with aabb in seed blends of Bt maize expressing Cry1A.105/Cry2Ab2/Vip3A with 0–30%non-Bt *** tests investigated the performance of aabb and AaBb in seed blends of Cry1A.105/Cry2Ab2 with 0–30% non-Bt *** pure non-Bt maize plots,after 9–13 d of neonates being released on the plants,0.39 and 0.65 larvae/plant survived with leaf injury ratings of 4.7 and 5.9(Davis's 1–9 scale)in the field and greenhouse,*** contrast,live larvae and plant injury were virtually not observed on Bt plants across all planting *** occurrence and plant injury by aabb on non-Bt plants were similar between seed blends and pure non-Bt plantings,suggesting that the blended refuges could provide an equivalent susceptible population as structured refuge under the test *** the greenhouse,the two insect genotypes in seed blends performed similarly,indicating that the seed blends did not provide more favorable conditions for AaBb over *** information generated from this study should be useful in managing *** and evaluating if send blends could be suitable refuge options for Bt resistance management in the regions where the insect is a primary target pest.

Colorectal cancer:Metastases to a single organ

Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a common malignancy worldwide. In CRC patients, metastases are the main cause of cancer-related mortality. In a group of metastatic CRC patients, the metastases are limited to a single site(solitary organ); the liver and lungs are the most commonly involved sites. When metastatic disease is limited to the liver and/or lungs, the resectability of the metastatic lesions will dictate the management approach and the outcome. Less commonly, the site of solitary organ CRC metastasis is the peritoneum. In these patients, cytoreduction followed by hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy may improve the outcome. Rarely, CRC involves other organs, such as the brain, bone, adrenals and spleen, as the only site of metastatic disease. There are limited data to guide clinical practice in these cases. Here, we have reviewed the disease characteristics, management approaches and prognosis based on the metastatic disease site in patients with CRC with metastases to a single organ.

The discovery of ubiquitous habitable extrasolar planets,combined with revolutionary advances in instrumentation and observational capabilities,has ushered in a renaissance in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence(SETI).Large scale SETI activities are now underway at numerous international *** Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)is the largest single-aperture radio telescope in the world,and is well positioned to conduct sensitive searches for radio emission indicative of *** is one of the five key science goals specified in the original FAST project plan.A collaboration with the Breakthrough Listen Initiative was initiated in 2016 with a joint statement signed both by *** Yan,the then director of National Astronomical Observatories,Chinese Academy of Sciences(NAOC),and *** Worden,Chairman of the Breakthrough Prize *** this paper,we highlight some of the unique features of FAST that will allow for novel SETI *** identify and describe three different signal types indicative of a technological source,namely,narrow band,wide-band artificially dispersed and modulated ***,we propose observations with FAST to achieve sensitivities never before *** nearby exoplanets,such as TESS targets,FAST will be sensitive to an EIRP of 1.9×1011 W,well within the reach of current human *** the Andromeda Galaxy,FAST will be able to detect any Kardashev type II or more advanced civilization there.

给出了一种模拟非线性流体-刚体结构相互作用问题的数值方法.文中假定结构承受大的刚体运动,流体流动受非线性有粘或无粘的场方程支配并满足自由表面和两相耦合界面上的非线性边界条件,利用任意拉氏-欧氏(ALE)网格系统构造了数值模型.采用所探讨的多块数值格式,允许可动重造网格间有独立的相对运动,从而克服了流体网格与固体大运动匹配的困难.通过数值离散化,导出了描述非线性流固耦合动力学的数值方程并应用耦合迭代过程对其作了求解.通过算例,说明了所提出数值模型的应用.

北苏格兰农学院兽医研究室,对一头患严重缺锌的黑白花母犊进行了检查和治疗试验。该犊曾在原农场大群饲养,喂以商品代乳品和不定量的干草(每公斤干物质分别含锌204.3和80.4毫克)。6周龄断奶后喂以商品精料(14.0毫克/公斤干物质),至8周龄时嘴眼四周、颔下、颈上出现不全角化病变。经检查,未见任何特定感染,血液学指数正常,血浆锌含量为0.14毫克/升(外观健康牛平均为1.44±0.44毫克/升),不全角化的损伤部位也未检出外寄生虫,腿部皮肤质脆,冠状带崩裂,唾液粘滞,牙龈溃疡,运动困难。

How to use magnetic resonance imaging following neoadjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer

Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) is highly sensitive in identifying residual breast cancer following neoadjuvant chemotherapy(NAC), and consequently is a commonly used imaging modality in locally advanced breast cancer patients. In these patients, tumor response is an important prognostic indicator. However, discrepancies between MRI findings and surgical pathology are well documented. Overestimation of residual disease by MRI may result in greater surgery than is actually required while underestimation may result in insufficient surgery. Thus, it is important to understand when MRI findings are reliable and when they are less accurate. MRI most accurately predicts pathology in triple negative, Her2 positive and hormone receptor negative tumors, especially if they are of a solid imaging phenotype. In these cases, post-NAC MRI is highly reliable for surgical planning. Hormone receptor positive cancers and those demonstrating non mass enhancement show lower concordance with surgical pathology, making surgical guidance more nebulous in these cases. Radiologists and surgeons must assess MRI response to NAC in the context of tumor subtype. Indiscriminate interpretations will prevent MRI from achieving its maximum potential in the pre-operative setting.
