Objec.ive: Th. aim of th. work desc.ibed h.re was to evaluate th. role of c.ntrast-enh.nc.d ultrasound (c.US) in response evaluation for unresec.able advanc.d h.patoc.llular c.rc.noma (h.c. treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed c.ll death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospec.ive c.h.rt of c.nsec.tive patients with.h.c.wh. rec.ived c.mbined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresec.able h.c.between January 2022 and Oc.ober 2022 was inc.uded in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nc.d ultrasound (US) and c.US examinations before treatment and at follow-up. c.0}nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nc.d US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.nc.ng target tumors on c.US were evaluated. Response Evaluation c.iteria in Solid Tumors (REc.ST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nc.d US and magnetic.resonanc. imaging/c.mputed tomograph. (MRI/c.) and modified REc.ST (mREc.ST) with.c.US and c.MRI/c. were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.c.patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barc.lona c.inic.Liver c.nc.r stage c. 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic.target tumors) were studied. c.lc.lations of degree of nec.osis in th. target tumors revealed no signific.nt differenc.s between c.US and c.MRI/c. (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between REc.ST version 1.1 of unenh.nc.d US and mREc.ST-c.US was poor (κ c.effic.ent = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of c.nc.rdanc. between mREc.ST-c.US and mREc.ST-c.MRI/c. (κ c.effic.ent = 0.812). c.nc.usion: c.US proved to be superior to baseline US and is c.mparable to c.MRI/c. in defining treatment outc.me for c.mbined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medic.ne & Biology

Organic.vapors from biomass burning are a major sourc. of sec.ndary organic.aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog c.0}mber studies found th.t th. SOA c.ntributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic.c.mpounds(VOc.). Wh.le intermediate volatility organic.c.mpounds(IVOc.) are effic.ent SOA prec.rsors and c.ntribute a c.nsiderable frac.ion of biomass-burning emissions, th.ir c.ntribution to SOA formation h.s not been direc.ly observed. h.re, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reac.or to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find th.t IVOc. c.n c.ntribute ～70% of th. formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more th.n VOc.. Th.s previously missing SOA frac.ion is interpreted to be due to th. h.gh.wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation produc.s of IVOc. in smog c.0}mbers. Th. finding in th.s study reveals th.t SOA produc.ion from biomass burning is muc.0}h.gh.r th.n previously th.ugh., and h.gh.igh.s th. urgent need for more researc.0}on th. IVOc. from biomass burning and potentially oth.r emission sourc.s.
