By colle.ting plant fossils from four re.ions in e.st Asia, we.have.e.tablishe. the.e.olutionary history of e.LFs. Through floral similarity analysis and pale.climatic re.onstruction, we.have.re.e.le. a dive.se.spatio-te.poral patte.n for the.occurre.ce.of e.LFs in e.st Asia. The.e.rlie.t occurre.ce.of e.LFs in southe.n China can be.trace. back to the.middle.e.ce.e. followe. by southwe.te.n China during the.late.e.ce.e.e.rly Oligoce.e. Subse.ue.tly, e.LFs e.e.ge. in Japan during the.e.rly Oligoce.e.and e.e.tually appe.re. in ce.tral-e.ste.n China around the.Mioce.e. Pale.climate.simulation re.ults sugge.t that the.pre.ipitation of we.te.t quarte.(PWe. Q, mm) e.ce.ding 600 mm is crucial for the.occurre.ce.of e.LFs.
