The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(sARs-CovV-2)infection is associated with a hyperinflammatory state and lymphocytopenia,a hallmark that appears as both signature and prognosis of disease severity *** cytokine storm and a sustained inflammatory state are commonly associated with immune cell depletion,it is still unclear whether direct sARs-Cov-2 infection of immune cells could also play a role in this scenario by harboring viral *** found that monocytes,as well as both B and T lymphocytes,were susceptible to sARs-Cov-2 infection in vitro,accumulating double-stranded RNA consistent with viral RNA replication and ultimately leading to expressive T cell *** addition,flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analysis revealed that sARs-Cov-2 was frequently detected in monocytes and B lymphocytes from coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)*** rates of sARs-Cov-2-infected monocytes in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from CoVID-19 patients increased over time from symptom onset,with sARs-CoV-2-positive monocytes,B cells,and CD4+T lymphocytes also detected in postmortem lung *** results indicated that sARs-CoV-2 infection of blood-circulating leukocytes in covID-19 patients might have important implications for disease pathogenesis and progression,immune dysfunction,and virus spread within the host.

single-particle resonances in a deformed relativistic potential

The positive-parity single-neutron levels in an axially-deformed relativistic quadrupole Woods-saxon potential are analyzed. Neutron states are obtained as the solutions of the corresponding single-particle Dirac equation, using the coupled-channels method in the coordinate space. The evolution of the levels close to the continuum threshold and, in particular, the occurrence of singleneutron resonant states as the functions of the axial deformation parameter 0 β 0.5, are examined using the eigenphase representation. Calculations are performed for different values of the radius of the potential (R/r 0 ) 3 , corresponding to a variation of the mass number A.

A liver donor with double hepatic artery aneurysm: a saved graft

The shortage of organs and the increasing median age of deceased donors for orthotropic liver transplantation stimulate transplant centres to accept grafts that otherwise would have been discarded due to severe vascular abnormali- ties. We encountered a donor with two arterial aneurysms and a left accessory hepatic artery： an arterial aneurysm of the common hepatic artery and a left accessory hepatic artery arising from a second aneurysm of the left gastric artery （Mi- chels type V）. A complex reconstruction was created to trans- plant the liver. Multiple arterial anastomosis was made and the hepatic inflow of the transplanted liver restored. Although the procedure increased the risk of hepatic artery thrombosis, one more organ supposed to be discarded was saved.

Microscopic analysis of spherical to γ-soft shape transitions in Zn isotopes

The rapid transition between spherical and γ-soft shapes in Zn isotopes in the mass A 70 region,is analyzed using excitation spectra and collective wave functions obtained by diagonalization of a five-dimensional Hamiltonian for quadrupole vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom,with parameters determined by constrained self-consistent relativistic mean-field calculations for triaxial *** microscopic potential energy surfaces,together with the characteristic collective observables,illustrate a rapid transition from near spherical shape at the N = 40 subshell,to γ-soft deformed shapes for lighter *** calculated spectra display fingerprints of a second-order shape phase transition that can be approximately described by the E(5) analytic solution.

Experimental demonstration of tunable refractometer based on orbital angular momentum of longitudinally structured light

The index of refraction plays a decisive role in the design and classification of optical materials and devices;therefore,its proper and accurate determination is *** most refractive index(RI)sensing schemes,however,there is a trade-off between providing high-resolution measurements and covering a wide range of *** propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel mechanism for sensing the index of refraction of a medium by utilizing the orbital angular momentum(OAM)of structured *** a superposition of co-propagating monochromatic higher-order Bessel beams with equally spaced longitudinal wavenumbers,in a comb-like setting,we generate non-diffracting rotating light structures in which the orientation of the beam’s intensity profile is sensitive to the RI of the medium(here,a fluid).In principle,the sensitivity of this scheme can exceed~2700°/RI unit(RIU)with a resolution of~105 ***,we show how the unbounded degrees of freedom associated with OAM can be deployed to offer a wide dynamic range by generating structured light that evolves into different patterns based on the change in *** rotating light structures are generated by a programmable spatial light *** provides dynamic control over the sensitivity,which can be tuned to perform coarse or fine measurements of the RI in real ***,in turn,allows high sensitivity and resolution to be achieved simultaneously over a very wide dynamic range,which is a typical tradeoff in all RI sensing *** thus envision that this method will open new directions in refractometry and remote sensing.

On the genetic distinctiveness of tailorbirds(Cisticolidae:Orthotomus)from the south-east Asian mainland with the description of a new subspecies

Background: The Cambodian Tailorbird(Orthotomus chaktomuk) was one of the most recent major ornithological discoveries in south-east Asia as it originated from lowland seasonally flooded scrub within the densely inhabited floodplain around the Tonle sap, Mekong and Bassac rivers(Cambodia). The Cambodian Tailorbird is sister to the Dark-necked Tailorbird(O. atrogularis) with very limited genetics and biometric differentiation. Between 2004 and 2012, evidences of a new population of Ashy Tailorbird(O. ruficeps) in sE Cambodia/Vietnam accumulated but no museum specimens were ever reported. The Ashy Tailorbird currently consists of eight subspecies among which the closest geographical populations, O. r. cineraceus(sE Burma to Malay Peninsula, sumatra, Bangka and Belitung) and O. r. borneoensis(Borneo), are allopatric. subspecific identification of the Cambodian Ashy Tailorbirds individuals was not possible because of the limited differences in plumage among ***: We inspected the Orthotomus ruficeps specimens housed at the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle(Paris) and discovered five specimens of O. ruficeps collected by Louis Rodolphe Germain in ‘Cochinchina'(corresponding to southern Vietnam) during the nineteenth century. We sequenced one mitochondrial locus and gathered biometric data from these specimens and compared them with other Orthotomus ***: The Ashy Tailord population from sE Cambodia and Vietnam is distinct from the two geographically close subspecies O. r. borneoensis(1.7%) and O. r. cineraceus(1.3%). O. chaktomuk is nested within O. atrogularis in the mitochondrial gene tree. Parabolic Trough Collector and Central Receiver Coupled with Fresnel Lens:Experimental Tests

Renewable energies have a high impact on power energy production and reduction of environmental pollution worldwide,so high efforts have been made to improve renewable technologies and research about *** paper presents the thermal performance results obtained by simulation and experimental tests of a parabolic trough collector with central receiver coupled to Fresnel lens,under different configurations on the *** simulation method was computational fluid dynamics(CFD)analysis in solidWorks(R)soft-ware tool,which works with Naiver-stokes equations to converge on a *** tests were formed with all configurations proposed and three observations for each one,a total of 12 observations were performed in all *** a result,the best thermal performance in simulation was achieved with the Fresnel lens and black pipe collector,with a maximum temperature of 116℃under 1000 W/m^2 radiation,the same system achieved in experimental tests a maximum temperature of 96℃with a radiation of 983 W/m^2.

Learning the optimal state-feedback via supervised imitation learning

Imitation learning is a control design paradigm that seeks to learn a control policy reproducing demonstrations from expert *** substituting expert demonstrations for optimal behaviours,the same paradigm leads to the design of control policies closely approximating the optimal *** approach requires training a machine learning algorithm(in our case deep neural networks)directly on state-control pairs originating from optimal *** have shown in previous work that,when restricted to low-dimensional state and control spaces,this approach is very successful in several deterministic,non-linear problems in *** this work,we refine our previous studies using as a test case a simple quadcopter model with quadratic and time-optimal objective *** describe in detail the best learning pipeline we have developed,that is able to approximate via deep neural networks the state-feedback map to a very high *** introduce the use of the softplus activation function in the hidden units of neural networks showing that it results in a smoother control profile whilst retaining the benefits of *** show how to evaluate the optimality of the trained state-feedback,and find that already with two layers the objective function reached and its optimal value differ by less than one *** later consider also an additional metric linked to the system asymptotic behaviour-time taken to converge to the policy’s fixed *** respect to these metrics,we show that improvements in the mean absolute error do not necessarily correspond to better policies.

A Retrospective Review of Aluminamagnesia-carbon Refractories

The residual expansion of in-situ spinel formation in using of alumina-magnesia-carbon(AMC)bricks monolizes the lining of steel-making ladles with the closure of their joints,which has been an effective solution avoiding washing out of the joints in ladle lining by the reduction of the penetration of liquid slag and molten ***-magnesiacarbon refractories are overall reviewed,in terms of major raw materials,thermal evolution,corrosion and oxidation,and thermomechanical behavior,as well as type,addition and fraction of magnesia *** commercial products contain 5%-10%MgO and 5%-10%C with a certain amount of metallic aluminum powder,which is believed to facilitate spinel formation at early stage of heating-up,although high magnesia containing AMC bricks are studied and used *** low ratio of Al_(2)O_(3)/C=12.9 and the carbon content of 6.4%C,AMC brick exhibits the highest corrosion *** is important to determine the type,addition and fraction of magnesia used in AMC refractories for demonstrating high corrosion resistance and superior thermomechanical behavior.
