Coherent systems are very important in reliability, survival analysis and other life sciences. In this paper, we consider the number of failed components in an(n-k + 1)-out-of-n system, given that at least m(m < k ≤ n) components have failed before time t, and the system is still working at time t. In this case, we compute the probability that there are exactly i working components. First the reliability and several stochastic properties are obtained. Furthermore,we extend the results to general coherent systems with absolutely continuous and exchangeable components.

Influence of electric field on the quenched-in vacancy and solute clustering during early stage ageing of Al-Cu alloy

The effects of electric field on the evolution of excess quenched-in vacancy as well as solute clustering in Al-4wt%Cu alloy, and on the vacancy migration and formation enthalpy of pure aluminum were investigated, using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy, high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, hardness measurement and four-probe electrical resistivity measurement. The results showed that the electric field improved age hardening response obviously and postponed the decay of excess vacancies for 30rain during the early stage ageing of Al-4wt%Cu alloy. A large number of 2-4nm GP zones with dense distribution were observed after 1 min ageing with an electric field applied. The electric field-assisted-aged sample owned a lower coarsening rate of GP zone, which was about three fifths of that in the aged sample without an electric field, from 1 min to 120 rain ageing. The electric field contributed 8% increase of the vacancy migration enthalpy （0.663 ±0.021 eV） of pure Al, comparing with that （0.611 ±0.023 eV） of pure Al without an electric field. The increase of vacancy migration enthalpy, induced by the electric field, was responsible for the difference on evolution of quenched-in vacancy, rapid solute clustering and age hardening improvement during the early stage ageing of Al-4wt%Cu alloy.

Pyroptosis,an inflammatory caspase-dependent programmed cell death,plays a vital role in maintaining tissue homeostasis and activating inflammatory *** tooth movement(OTM)is an aseptic force-induced inflammatory bone remodeling process mediated by the activation of periodontal ligament(PDL)progenitor ***,whether and how force induces PDL progenitor cell pyroptosis,thereby influencing OTM and alveolar bone remodeling remains *** this study,we found that mechanical force induced the expression of pyroptosis-related markers in rat OTM and alveolar bone remodeling *** or enhancing pyroptosis level could suppress or promote OTM and alveolar bone remodeling *** Caspase-1^(−/−)mice,we further demonstrated that the functional role of the force-induced pyroptosis in PDL progenitor cells depended on ***,mechanical force could also induce pyroptosis in human ex-vivo force-treated PDL progenitor cells and in compressive force-loaded PDL progenitor cells in vitro,which influenced ***,transient receptor potential subfamily V member 4 signaling was involved in force-induced Caspase-1-dependent pyroptosis in PDL progenitor ***,this study suggested a novel mechanism contributing to the modulation of osteoclastogenesis and alveolar bone remodeling under mechanical stimuli,indicating a promising approach to accelerate OTM by targeting Caspase-1.

Mutations in long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4 (ACSL4) are associated with non-syndromic X-linked intellectual disability (ID). However, the neural functions of ACSL4 and how loss of ACSL4 leads to ID remain largely unexplored. We report here that mutations in Acsl, the Drosophila ortholog of human ACSL3 and ACSL4, result in developmental defects of the mushroom body (MB), the center of olfactory learning and memory. Specifically, Acsl mutants show fewer MB neuroblasts (Nbs) due to reduced proliferation activity and premature differentiation. Consistently, these surviving Nbs show reduced expression of cyclin E, a key regulator of the G1-to S-phase cell cycle transition, and nuclear mislocalization of the transcriptional factor Prospero, which is known to repress self-renewal genes and activate differentiating genes. Furthermore, RNA-seq analysis reveals downregulated Nb-and cell-cyclerelated genes and upregulated neuronal differentiation genes in Acsl mutant Nbs. As Drosophila Acsl and human ACSL4 are functionally conserved, our findings provide novel insights into a critical and previously unappreciated role of Acsl in neurogenesis and the pathogenesis of ACSL4-related ID.

Combined Cycle Fatigue Testing with Ultrasonic FrequencyComponent of S350 Steel Welded Joint

A combined cycle fatigue （CCF） testing system with ultrasonic frequency component was developed toevaluate the CCF properties of S350 steel welded joints in this study. The fatigue testing results indicated that the S-Ncurves of CCF did not have fatigue limit, which agreed with those of pure high frequency fatigue of welded joints. TheS-N curves showed that the CCF strength of welded joints dropped greatly with the increasing interaction between highand low frequency fatigue loading. An approximation design method of CCF was presented using amplitude envelopeas the stress range.

Carbon dioxide injection into deep saline aquifers results in a variety of strongly coupled physical and chemical processes. In this study, reactive transport simulations using a 2-D radial model were performed to investigate the fate of the injected CO2, the effect of CO2-water-rock interactions on mineral alteration, and the long-term CO2 sequestration mechanisms of the Liujiagou Formation sandstone at the Shenhua CCS（carbon capture and storage） pilot site of China. Carbon dioxide was injected at a constant rate of 0.1 Mt/year for 30 years, and the fluid flow and geochemical transport simulation was run for a period of 10 000 years by the TOUGHREACT code according to the underground conditions of the Liujiagou Formation. The results show that different trapping phases of CO2 vary with time. Sensitivity analyses indicate that plagioclase composition and chlorite presence are the most significant determinants of stable carbonate minerals and CO2 mineral trapping capacity. For arkosic arenite in the Liujiagou Formation, CO2 can be immobilized by precipitation of ankerite, magnesite, siderite, dawsonite, and calcite for different mineral compositions, with Ca（2＋）, Mg（2＋）, Fe（2＋） and Na＋ provided by dissolution of calcite, albite（or oligoclase） and chlorite. This study can provide useful insights into the geochemistry of CO2 storage in other arkosic arenite（feldspar rich sandstone） formations at other pilots or target sites.
